Who would it be and why? Not going to count Fred since it didn't stick.

- Joyce's death was one of the most heartbreaking scenes of the show; beautifully executed, can't undo that.
- Wesley got a fitting sendoff. Tragic, yes, but also a brilliant end to his journey.
- Jenny's death was also too good to pass up.
- I wish Doyle had been around longer but I think his death was necessary for everything to move forward.
- If Cordelia had died at the end of S4, then it would be her in a heartbeat, but she got a great final episode that thankfully undid her character assasination and helped get Angel back on track.
- Anya is sorely needed nowadays, but she'd been so underdeveloped towards the end of S7, I don't know what they'd do with her now.
- I always thought it sucked that Jonathan didn't get to live while Andrew did, and even went on to join the Scooby Gang! He's my 2nd place choice, but ultimately, I'll say Tara. A genuinely good person who died a meaningless death at the hands of a wannabe supervillian and left us with Kennedy. Tara gets to live.

Great question, and a tough one. I'd like to bring three or four of those characters back. But I am going to to for Cordelia. I just love her characters honesty and forth-rightness and I think she'd definitely add something to the comics.

I would bring Jonathan back, but only if we could swap him with Andrew.

This is tough but I think I would bring back Anya. Her death wasn't at all needed for the show, and she's a great character. The others death scenes were too important to give up. Except for maybe Cordelia, but I enjoyed ats 5 without her anyways. My second choice would be Jenny because I want Giles to be happy, but Passion is amazing.

I miss most of the characters listed but I have to follow my heart and say Cordelia. She grew so much throughout both shows and was such a vibrant and dynamic character.

I watched The Body last night so would have to have Joyce as my second choice as she was such a big part of the Scoobies' lives and it was never quite the same without her (and despite having seen the episode numerous times I am still feeling emotional about it today 🙁)

I was reading an article about when it's right to kill off characters. I think that it should have used Joss as a guide. 🙂

For most of these it's hard to imagine what road the show would have taken if these characters had lived. Or how the characters left would have turned out.

That said, after much deliberation, I think I'd want to bring Tara back. She added a quietness and a peace to the group that was very nice.

Close runner up: Jenny. Because Giles deserves a little happiness.

Probably Tara. Her death, whilst it served a purpose for the narrative and for Willow's arc, was just so heartbreaking, for a young innocent woman to be gunned down like that. Other deaths were just as sad, if not more so (e.g. Joyce), but they were either organic or there was some sort of just cause.

If I think about that too much I might disagree with myself actually!

Anya wasn't served by her death either, but being a thousand year old ex ex vengeance demon, she did have it coming.

This is hard, for me it is between Jenny and Joyce. I'm going with Jenny because it wouldn't have changed any of the story lines had she lived and it would have been nice for Giles to have a contemporary to share his life with.

Of the choices listed I would choose Cordelia. I found that entire arc to be ridiculous and a disservice to Cordelia, Charisma and fans of the show. Now, there are two ways I look at this. Firstly, if we were to discuss changing the death then I would completely rewrite Season 4. I don’t know exactly what storyline I would have liked as a major arc, but I feel like anything would have been preferential. However, if we are discussing bringing a character back I would have bought Cordelia back for the entire second half of Season 5 to save the character. I would have liked to have seen Cordelia return to her old self, discuss with Angel what happened and feel (unwarranted) guilt over what Jasmine did to her body.

The other character that I would have bought back would be Lilah. I would have kept her on as a ‘ghost’ link to the Senior Partners, making Eve’s character null and void. I think Lilah would have been an interesting addition to Season 5 in many facets. We could have seen her and Lindsay interact again; bickering and bantering like old times. We could have seen how she would have interacted with Spike. And we could have seen her further humanised when she feels heartbreak over Wesley and Fred getting together. Potentially I would have seen her ending the series in a similar way to Eve, at W&H, where her soul will eternally be.

Tara because her and Willow had a beautiful relationship which could have blossimed into something special. Also Tara was just so likeable. Fred too for those reasons.

I would say Tara ( for the many reasons already mentioned) as first choice, because I think, as character, she, only, started to show her best (except the resurrection part to bring back Buffy) and different personality traits in season six: we see a Tara very confident, very strong, brave and able to stand up against the magic abuse of Willlow but at the same time Tara was great to defend her love against the requests to use magic.... So I would have like to see more new aspects of the personality of Tara....
Who can image that (inappearance) this underestimated and marginalized character ( in season four a most of season five) can be a strong and reassuring confident and friend? I'm so sad🙁

My second choice, instead of Tara, is Kendra: she was useful only for Faith arc.... She helped Buffy to understand (in my opinion) that being a slayer is not "something" from which to escape and how sad is to die alone in no bigger fight as "the Gift" where Buffy could say goodbye to her sister ( and somehow also her friends) 🙁

I'm going with Tara because I feel like we lost way more than we gained. Willow could have gone dark and come back as the result of a different catalyst. Tara would have been great in S7, a huge asset. (in my opinion)

I voted for Cordy ('You're Welcome' is pretty great, but to erase the stain of the Jasmine arc, you need a lot more than one episode), but my real answer is Lilah. Her death was totally lame, and we know that she can still be used by W&H because she appeared in the season 4 finale, so bringing her back as a major character would be very easy. It wouldn't even have the "making death in the Buffyverse feel cheap" problem.

Aww man, I forgot Lilah! Yeah, she was awesome and her death was lame. Why on earth they brought in Eve as Senior Partners liaison in S5 instead of Lilah, I'll never know.... 🙄

Tara - no question. I still think that they should do this in the comics. I mean it's comics, anything is pretty much possible there. 😉
