if a friend of yours was like "ugh buffys stupid!" and then you convinced them to watch an ep to convince them that buffy is sad funny and has excellent acting which ep which you tell them to watch? it doesnt exactly have to be your fave ep just one that you think could change a buffy hater
i would choose "the body"

Well, while I think that it would be difficult to appreciate the emotional aspects of the show without having watched it from the start ( There would be no personal connections to the characters, etc.), I think that I would have to either go with Prophecy Girl, or agree with Magui and say Innocence.

Prophecy Girl really throes the viewer into Buffy's world. One get's to experience to pure hell of high school and growing up, having to take reponsibility for one's self and ations. Then also there's the sentimental friendship aspect. There are some nice scenes between Buffy and Willow, Buffy and Xander and WIllow and Xander. I think that this is the first episode of the show to really illustrate how amazing it is. (aside from the horrid use of the theme song).

Innocence has all the drama and heartache of adolescence and love. Love is that one universal thing, everyone can relate to and sympathize with it. No matter what your culture and the way things are done, there's always love. It also has all the trappings of high school, friendship and growing up and facing the not always plesant reality... Also, this episode completely sucks the viewer in.

I would go with "The Gift". It's the one that moves me the most and if I only had one shot to make a convert that's where I'd go. Like Kindred mentioned it would be very hard to get someone to fully appreciate the show without any backstory and connection to the characters. For me, the characters and their relationships were the key to the show, not the monsters and the fight scenes. Buffy pulled me in like no show has ever done before, to the point that the characters are like part of my family and what happens to them can really affect me.

I too would go for The Body. It displays all the characters acting skills excelently, especailly Emma's.

Thats hrd choice, I mean if they liked crying shows id show 'The Body' if they liked olden ones id do 'Fool for love' if they liked funny ones id show 'something blue' if they like romance id show 'innocence' and so on, it depends on the type of person they are.

But what id most probely do (if it was half way throuh a season) is tape it, lock them in a room with the VCR, TV and me and then id show her/him it and she could like pause it every now and then so I could explain.

I made my best friend sit down and watch "The Body" thinking it would change their attitude towards Buffy, but it turns out that son of a BEEP just talked about how bad the acting was. Arrrrrrgh, I wanted to punch him!

Hmm, I'm not sure. It's a hard one as they wouldn't know the characters. An Angel ep may work better. In The Dark wouldn't be bad. Sleep Tight maybe?
Buffy eps - Fool For Love, Passion or Hush?

If I wanted to turn a friend of mine into an Angel lover then I'd just make them watch Apocalypse, Nowish. The fight scene near the end alone would turn them.

I think I'd make them watch Innocence because its such an emotional episode and it makes you feel for Buffy. It also pretty much explains each character. From watching this you can tell that Willow is in love with Xander but he just wants them to be friends. Both Willow and Xander had a dislike of Cordy but now he's dating her. It explains about Angel's curse and the people he has hurt. And the end scenes are excellent when Buffy can't kill Angel, when Giles is saying he is proud of Buffy (that shows their close father/daughter relationship) and when Buffy doesn't confided in her mum and tell her whats happened!

The Body might make them watch other Buffy eps, but they might not like the ideas of vampires and such.

I love Hush! I would show them that to. But, I lost my season 4 disc with that espoide! 🙁 It is somewhere.

This has actually happened with a couple of my friends. One I got into it by Grave, one by Hush, and one by Passion. There are some others I don't remeber too. I have gotten many of my firends into the show, most of them thought it was stupid before they actually watched it.

Not to go too OT, but people who think "Buffy's stupid" don't deserve to be introduced at all. I always wish all my friends were into it, but I only show eps to my friends who express a real desire and intrest in watching.

I would have to say...maybe...you know I don't know. Prolly, Something Blue or Hush.
