If you had to explain Spuffy to others not familiar with the ship

Mistakes were made.

My grandson knows I'm a huge Buffy fan. He also knows I'm a Spuffy shipper. So this has come up and basically there is no explanation other than "it's fun to watch". Not unlike his own parents, no explaining that relationship yet here he is, proof that indeed...mistakes were made.

Similar to Edward and Bella with less romance and more overt violence instead of implied.

you cannot deny they are very similar, thematically.
@Mr. Pole: you cannot deny they are very similar, thematically.

Actually, Twilight started it's life as a Bangel fanfic. Then it was taken down and reworked. Look at Angel in Lie To Me and tell me he wasn't the vamp model used for Edward Cullen.

Twilight can be read as a Bangel parody. A bit longer version of the Cordy/Wes performance.
Also Robert Pattison's intonations and manner of speaking when he plays Edward resemble DB's delivery as Angel when he is in broody mode.

Let's keep this Spuffy shall we?

For my answer, I think bespangeled had a pretty good one, but as for me I only need one word;
Fire.

🙂

@ Taake, you're no fun 🙂
Oh, fine.

Was trapped in this boring conference all day thinking about one sentence but couldnt come up with anything good, so here is an immitation of William's bad poetry:

In my eternal darkness
she was just a spark,
but so bright
I burned to ashes,
reaching for her light.

(Bangel would be easier, I'd chose
'love will tear us apart' by Joy Division, my alltime fav.)

Athena
Athena
So basically, she was effulgent?
In my eternal darkness
she was just a spark,
but so bright
I burned to ashes,
reaching for her light.
But see to me that is about Spike and not Spuffy. That poem is about Spike and his heroism. Especially in retrospect. The 'her' was his true heroic nature. How his heroic spark in season seven was the thing that lifted him from his darkness. As a result he, literally, burnt to ashes from becoming a hero. Becoming effulgent.

Season 5:One sided fixation from Stalky the clown's side on The Slayer.

Season 6:Toxic, Kinky and Steamy.

Season 7:Friendship.

Has your grandson ever watched Buffy ?

@athena
Sure, Spike may have found his ultimative effulgent goddess who with one flicker of her dainty fingers can cause exothermic reaction in every vamp she touches.

@Mr pole
Nice, but what if the true muse for the poem was my veteran coworker (he)
who suffers from dyspepsia
and who, bathing in the light and glory of our company's (she) recent success ate too much food in the celebratory dinner and practically burned alive from stomachache cos he forgot to bring with him his medication...? You never know with graphomans. They're crazy folk.

He very occasionally will watch a little with me. He's six and a half. I want to sit down with him and start him at the beginning. In the meantime when he catches me watching it while I do the dishes (yey kindle) he will ask if I'm watching Buffy, or Spuffy because he knows sometimes I just need to get my Spuffy fix and I'm either watching only particular episodes or particular scenes.

Spike said this to Buffy and Angel but I think it describes Spike and Buffy better. Turn the periods into commas and you have my run on sentence 🙂
