Buffy had always wanted a normal life. Life without vampires, demons, life and death matters.... But she didn't really have a choice because she was the chosen one.

But as the show ended, girls from all around the world got activated as Slayers. And now they have a choice. They can fight evil, and they can choose to live as normal girls.

My question is, if you got activated as a Slayer and you were given that choice, what would you choose?

I'd totally go be a slayer. It'd be like in a dorm. Wouldn't have to have a lame boring job and I'd get fed.

Plus, working with Buffy . . . awesome . . .working with Andrew . . . also awesome!

I'd want to be a slayer but I wouldn't want to team up with other slayers. I think I'd probably end up wanting to beat the crap out of the other slayers if I was with them for too long, I'd much rather do my own thing and fight evil my own way.

Well the thing is once your Chosen the choice of a normal life is off the cards completely. You don't have that choice at all. Ultimately your choice is narrowed down to using your powers for good or for personal gain.

If I was Chosen I would most likely go be a slayer but not because that is want I truly wanted but more because I think I would feel duty bound to use the Slayer power as it was meant to be used. Plus, once I knew what went bump in the night, I wouldn't be able to ignore it.

On one hand: This. On the other hand, I have two small children. To accept the slayer responsibilities would in effect be to put them in second place. Is the mission what matters?

I think when you are Chosen it takes that choice away from you. (Which is why I now loathe that whole part of that ep).

The second you are called your "normal" life ends. If you chose not to get involved in slaying officially I am almost certain that world would find a way to impinge on you anyway. I think even if you tried to avoid or reject that world it would force you into it.

I actually think a normal life would be possible. If you want it enough, and aren't greedy and try to use the powers for personal gain, or filled with guilt for not using your powers, I think it could work.

It would he harder to say not to fighting evil if you're the only one Chosen one, but otherwise I think it's possible. Hard, if you got the instinct for killing, but doable.

I think I would use it for personal gain in life, but patrol from time to time to feel like I made a difference. And God help any human evil doer I meet in the dark.

Maybe try the slayer army thing for a while.

i would be a slayer. i would keep my family and friends around me, as buffy did, but i wouldn't try to escape the calling.

i think it would be bordering on irresponsible to know you have that kind of power and ability to make change, and not do something with it. i think my conscience would bother me if i didn't use the power.

i also know that i would relish the sense of purpose it gave me. feeling directionless and useless is horrible.

If I was chosen, I'd like to say I'd want to be a slayer immediately... but honestly, I'd have to do a lot of thinking about it. I'd probably end up with "sign me up" but it would take some thought.

I am pretty sure it was said that the Slayer actually attracts evil - much like the Hellmouth - so yes, the world would find a way to either make you do your job or die.

I think a "normal" life wouldn't be possible or very short.

I agree with Kean... Once a Slayer is Chosen, she doesn't have the choice to ignore her calling. Look at Faith. She tried to run from it and eventually realized she couldn't run anymore.

If I were Chosen, I would feel awed that someone in the universe wanted me to be the one to fight for the forces of good. It would definitely be hard at times, but I'd feel honored to have been Chosen for something so incredibly important.

If I did have a choice... Then I would jump at the chance to be one of the Chosen. It's like being pulled out of anonymity, and you finally can do something to change the world. Who wouldn't want to? Because now you're someone special, someone who matters. Plus, I'd get to meet Buffy and Giles and (depending on the circumstances) Spike.

I'd probably be crushed by the burden. To me the concept of being made physically stronger against my will is the opposite of empowerment. I suppose I'd try to use my power for others but most likely, if I'm honest with myself, I'd crumble, I'd fall.

It does raise the moral question (and this extends to Angel after he was re ensoulled), if we have the power are we morally obligated to help others and if we are and we do, can really be called heroes?

I would have to be a slayer because I wouldn't be able to live the rest of my life knowing that I had a bigger purpose to do something right to help people & I chose not to.

This bigger purpose thing you guys are talking about, I used to agree on. But now, seeing people in commercials begging people to give money to starving children and hearing about other unjustices, I realize that there's always a higher purpose for anyone who wants it. I just don't know if I would feel much more obliged to help people with or without superpowers.

Somewhat probably, since it would be easier and I would have the hunting instinct. The ability to literally kick bad guyss asses would be tempting to, from a therapeutic perspective. I would see the results of my efforsts right in front of me.

I'm not sure if there are any other kind of hero. Saving people for other reasons, for example, so we can get praise and kick som ass, which Spike was into for a while, isn't that heroic to me.

No, feeling that you have to, or should save people, and then doing it, is what makes a hero a hero.
