I'll Never Tell

I've always been confused with a certain lyric in I'll Never Tell (from OMWF, obviously.)

Is the lyric
"She doesn't know what please is"
OR
"She doesn't know what pleases"

because both have extremely different meanings.

I've tried googling it really quickly and actually the questions comes up a lot. I've seen both versions be indicated on different sites. We would need the script to know for sure.

Wow I always thought he said "she doesn't know what pleases" but now that you mention it the other thing makes more sense with Anya lol

There was lots of sexual innuendo in that song, so I think the second choice makes more sense. Or that's what I've always assumed.

I always assumed it was "she doesn't know what please is". Because Anya is not the type who says either 'please' or 'thank you' (which we all know is annoying... it's nice when people are polite 😉) and from all the innuendo on the show I kind of was lead to believe that their sex-life was dynamo! Meaning she certainly knew what pleased Xander physically but not necessarily mentally.

It's always been made clear that Xander and Anya's sex life is beyond great, so it doesn't make sense that Xander would be complaining that Anya doesn't know how to please him.

Anya lacks tact in the worst way, she doesn't understand the concept of manners or politeness, so it's obvious to me that this is what Xander is referring to, the fact that Anya doesn't know that it's polite to say 'please' and 'thank you' when she's asking for something.
