A new four issue mini-series centering on, you guessed it, Illyria, has been announced. It's written by Scott Tipton and Mariah Huehner, with art by Elena Casagrande. The first issue is due to be released in November. Infos have been pretty scarce, but here's the solicit for the first issue:

Re-born out of tragedy, older than time, Illyria has been one of the most mysterious and alien members of Team Angel since her resurrection. Infected with the memories of those who loved Fred, Illyria now struggles with the burden of her guilt. Seeking out help from Angel and Spike, Illyria begins a quest that will take her back into her past, and face the consequences of being made whole again in a world she does not belong in.

I almost forgot about this! I knew from somewhere there's gonna be Illyria comics and I forgot! So thanks for posting, Mummy. 🙂

And I'll definitely buy it if I see it being sold somewhere.

Edit: I'm quite sure the first cover is inspired by a God of Hindu.
 
Oh this is going to be so good. Can't believe there wasn't a thread for this already. It's suppose to have Illyria and Spike in it (hoping for more Spillyria) and it's going to coincide with the final arc of IDW's Angel, the Wolf, Ram and Hart.
 
We have release dates for the first two issues now, which are, apparently, November 10 and December 15.

Oh more Illyria, good times. Exciting stuff, I'm really undecided whether to give these a read, and these goes for all the comics since Buffy and Angel finished.
 
I thought this totally nailed Illyria's character. The first several pages where the bad guys were taunting and she said nothing back, right on target. Anyone else have thoughts?
 
I just read Haunted. Parts of it was pure poetry.

The beginning, the pages where Illyria retold who she used to be, how she took over Fred? Beautiful. A much nicer set up/"previously on" function than what comics usually have. The panels were beautiful as well, poetry in itself. The parst where Illyria jumps in front of a moon? I wanted that panel as a tattoo.

And it actually sounded like her. She sounded like she did in season 5(then changed into a more warm voice in the last issue, after she "changed"), like the real her, something many writers didn't quite get.

I love the Spike moment when he talks about a love th<t can make you save the world. Very nice Spuffy moment. Too bad it came after he was a complete douche to that innocent demon in the bar, but it was still nice (and after all, it's realistic of Spike to be rude).

You know, I usually hate when people are evil and all of a sudden change and their heart grows three sizes or whatever, but this time it felt right. I've been very "Why did illyria do that? That's almost nice!" when reading most comics about her, but this time it felt right. Could be because it's the last IDW arc I had left to read, so I'm forgiving. Now only the comic book adaptations remains to read.

But I still want to call this arc poetry. It's one of my new favorite comics.
