Illyria v (Dark) Willow

Having just posted on the Illyeria v Glory thread I thought it would be interesting to get people's thought's on a Illyeria v Willow or Dark Willow fight.

As much as I like both Illyeria and Willow I have to think that Dark Willow would kick Illyeria's behind from now till breakfast without breaking a sweat - until that is she run's out of steam - then, Illyeria would beat Dark Willow into a bloody pulp.

Your thoughts?

Dark Willow could hold her own against Illyria for awhile. Like maybe for two seconds. Then it would be Blue Thunder all the way.

It would be almost impossible for Illyria to win, apart from the lame ending of season 6 when DWillow was 'defeated' by Xanders 'love', i cant see how anyone could beat DWillow, she just had too much power. Lets imagine they fight, Willow simply has to hover 30ft above the ground and shoot lightning bolts at Illyria, and im sure Willow could stop Illyrias time-slow thingy. Also, i hate both these characters, id wish they killed each other.

but by that time Illyria would be dead. If DWillow has the power to destroy the earth, then im pretty sure she could beat some little 'old one'.

Dark Willow would...lose very fast. She did not have power to destroy the earth, that is like calling Angelus capable of destroying the force. I could theoretically do that if i had button with enough nukes to launch from pressing it.

Dark Willow magic would be rather useless against Illyria time control, she would not even know what hit her.

I have to agree with Atren. It just doesn't seem likely to me that Willow would ultimately win. She was just a human who packed herself with power... and her crazy power didn't come till Giles dosed her and that was trick power anyway, it made her way stronger for a minute but it ultimately was her downfall. Illyria was a demon god, Willow might hold her own for a while but ultimately Illyria would kick her ass.

I haven't seen much of Angel, I did see most of the episodes with Illyria, and ALL where she had her full powers. The fight would definitely be interesting and fantastic; Illyria would be using powers that come naturally to her, and Dark Willow would be in the opposite corner, vengeance-fueled with the magicks. I'll look at the fight as if it'd been Illyria who had killed Tara.

Ultimately, the victor in my eyes.. would (I'll admit) doubtfully be Dark Willow. I say this because Illyria was very unstable, and in a different demeanor than Willow was. She didn't control her powers as well as she thought she had, even Angel slipped through the time ripple and she let most of her energy be absorbed by that Power-Ranger ray wannabe. Who isn't to say that Willow would not be able to absorb Illyria's power? I know that's a common opposition standpoint, but it's true. And Willow also portrayed examples of time manipulation (I think), when she froze Warren's mystical grenade. My point is, Dark Willow believed she had nothing left.. she was fueled by grief and the loss of a true love, I think she would have gone to the end of the world to defeat Tara's killer. That is if it had been Illyria, I just see the motive card being a bigger factor in this fight.. as I only relate to Dark Willow from Tara's death.

It's a very interesting concept to think of.

EmptyColours has a point, with Illyria not being her old demon self Dark Willow owuld probably be able to find a way in, so to say. But still, in the end, I think Illyria would beat Willow. The Magics Dark Willow was tapped into seemed to be a heavy load for her to handle, whereas Illyria's only issue would be how to handle Fred's body, which wasn't exactly un-useful for being fast and fighting and stuff. Illyria would need some time to figure out how to handle Willow, so in the beginning it would seem like DWillow was winning, but then Willow would get tired, without being able to destroy Illyria, and then.. Poof.

It's been quite some time since I've seen the Angel episodes, but wasn't it possible for Illyria to be extracted from Fred's body? I don't remember how, but I believe I remember that bit; correct me if I'm wrong. Yes, essentially that was Illyria's only weakness, however, one thing I do give to Dark Willow slash Willow.. is that she was very good in battle tactics. Obviously deriving it from her genius self, I mean when Andrew/Jonathan/Buffy were protected by her magic.. what did she do? She used her magic on herself, I wouldn't undermine Will's intelligence at any moment.

It's funny - most people call Willow a parasitic witch, but honestly, Ilyria was by far more of a parasite. And, if Willow was capable of reversing the magic keeping Dawn human at that moment in time.. who is to say she wouldn't have been able to send Illyria back to her dusty sarcophagus?

Call me kinky, but I'd love to see them fight each other to a draw, bringing a city block or five down in the process, and then going "end of Smashed, with superpowers". ^^
