Had a quick look, and I don't see mention of it..

I've always wondered, the power that Wesley drew out from Illyria and into that machine, is it, or do you think it is possible to insert the power into another being?

I mean, Fred's body wasn't strong enough to contain Illyria's power, but she was a skinny little nerd. Do you think Angel could, for example, have that power without imploding like a nuke and taking out half of America?(which, doesn't seem too bad a thing.. 😀).

no but he could of used it to get back at Giles and Andrew *laughs evilly*
ooh Angel with that power now there's a thought....Please note i wasn't serious..
I trullt think the power went when Wes zapped her with that device..but i am only speculating.

I don't know the answer, but I can think of a couple of things to consider.

It took the followers of Illyria thousands of years to identify the correct time for the tranference, and subject in which to engrain the essence of Illyria.

The essence of Illyria is so deeply engrained in the body of Fred it destroyed (or at least corrupted) the soul of Fred.

As far as the excess power of Illyria goes I can't help thinking of what Willow says in Get It Done, when she says something like, you can't destroy energy only transfer it. So theoretically if you could identify that energy, perhaps you could transfer it to someone else, but doesn't it say in Angel 5 somewhere the energy is inextricably bound to Illyria in some way? I can't remember.

I don't remember them saying that, but, Wes draws the excess power out of Illyria as she's about to chernobyl. If they can extract the power, surely they can do the reverse?

Makes sense to me.

Hey, switching quickly into fanfic mode...I just remembered this other recent thread where someone was pointing out how Connor was inexplicably stricken by pain as Wolfram & Hart came down around his ears.

What a nifty way to get Angel & co. out of the Alley. As W&H is being destroyed the stored excess essence of Illyria is released from it's containment and finds a suitable receptacle in Connor. Connor, already pretty tough, becomes kind of a mega-Connor. Remember the original power of Illyria was something even the Senior Partners seemed to fear.

Yeah, but the twist should be, he can only access the power when he is Angry, and he could...i don't know. 'hulk up'...if season 4 is indication, he could be the 'Incredible Sulk'

Didn't Wesley send the exra power off to some other dimension? Or am I going crazy...?
MentPatient agrees: Didn't Wesley send the exra power off to some other dimension? Or am I going crazy...?

Well, there's this -

WESLEY
No one is murdering you. This device won't kill you.

ANGEL
What? You said"”

WESLEY
I lied. Illyria, this device will draw the energy away from you safely. It will allow you to live.

and here's the way it's described in the transcript.

The weapon shoots out a beam of light, hitting Illyria in her stomach. It draws the blue light energy from her into the weapon. Spike watches in shock. Lorne grimaces, pained, as he steps away from the ordeal. Angel watches intently. Wesley continues using the weapon on Illyria until all the fractures in her body re-seal themselves. When he turns off the weapon, Illyria collapses to the floor, convulsing for a moment.

You know what Mentpatient? I think you're getting confused by that fanfic I wrote one time. I remember you read it, and were commenting. In that one Illyria got the energy back, because she could handle the excess in another dimension. It's kind of flattering really, I mean, if you confused my fanfic with the original series. 🙂

In fact...ever the self-ingratiating, advertising hound, it's here -

and that bit goes like this -

Vrill did not move. His attention melted into the approaching Illyria, motionless like a Mantis. Black drool dribbled down his red neck.

"Fools" continued Illyria, "you thought to rob Illyria of her inborn power. Such power is bound eternally to it's source. On earth the receptacle could not contain such energy, but here...here..."

She smiled broader and looked directly at Vrill, "it can."

Yeah.. That's similar to the original idea I had for a fanfic, but it was more by design than accident, plus it required Wesley.

The thing about the senior partners fearing Illyria. I don't think they do, I think that was just the mislead for that episode. They were in fact bothered about Illyria blowing up and taking out half their client base and screwing with their apocolyptic plans.

Oh hell. I think we've got a money making machine on our hands. The 'Incredible Sulk', The NEXT BIG THING!

Except the Sulk would be Illyria's blue, not green, and instead of saying "Hulk stomp", he would say stuff like, "Sulk pout". Speaking of fanfic, can I steal this idea Dia de la Muerte? 😉
