I'm confused on the whole Connor thing.....

Ok so I am a huge fanatic of Buffy and just decided to watch the spin-off Angel. I just finished with teh episode where Holtz kidnapps baby connor and takes him to a hell dimesion.

I am loveing Angel so far. The action and drama is addicting. I'm really confused on the connor thing though. It just all seems to unreal. Darla and Angel are both vamps meaning they're DEAD, so tell me how can they create a human, soul filled life with two dead bodies. It just doesn't make sense. Not saying I hate the show now that's in it. They show still rocks, and the baby thing makes it that more addicting. I'm just saying it's confusing and makes no since.

If someone could explain the whole connor's exsistence a little more that'd be great, or tell me if it will be explained more!
 
Connor's birth was part of a prophecy and the doing of a higher being, you find out a lot more about how Connor is possible in Season 4. So It's hard to explain without spoiling you for season 4. I suggest finishing Season 4 first.

Yeah they give a very specific reason for how little Connor came to be.

Angel completed the trials successfully was owed a life..being Connor.

I thought using that as the reason for Connor's existence wasn't thought through from the beginning, but I liked that they did. Pretty cool callback.

ok so I couldn't help myself I had to check out the spoiler's, lol.
That makes alot of since about how connor got to be.
Thanks not so confusing anymore, maybe i can warm up to his character now.
I'm just finished the episode where he's back as like a teenager now(which makes since being in a hell dimension) and tries to kill Angel.

Anyway thank you for the clearing up on that confusion 🙂

Connor will become one of those characters that you're probably meant to hate because he's such a pain in everyone's side but if you look beyond that to just why he is the way he is, you might not change your opinion and still hate him but more for what he does out of ignorance (not knowing the facts) and not willing to listen to reason, instead of hating him because he's just annoying, or whiny, or something superficial.

Dawn is the same way.

No, Dawn actually cares about others way more than Connor ever has. Dawn comes back in season 7 to fight beside her sister, she helps a potentional in season 7, she helps Xander, tries to help Willow in season 6, and she generally has a good heart. Dawn may be annoying at times but she a much better person than Connor. Dawn who has no superpowers wants to help people, and Connor who does have superpowers uses them to hurt people when its convient for him, he treated Angel like crap and blamed everyone else for his own problems, Dawn was never like that she truly cares about Buffy and the others.

Well, Dawn didn't grow up in a hell dimension. Technically, Dawn didn't grow up at all LOL. But when she came into the world, it was into a loving supportive family, with friends & a sister that protects her. All Connor had was Holtz, and yes, he protected him, but he also taught him to hate. Wow, I can't believe I'm defending Connor!! Has hell frozen over? 😀

So just because Connor had a tough life, I had to suffer through 22 episodes of Season 4 with him? Connor only had to life in a hell dimension. That's no excuse for ruining a perfectly good season of Angel. lol

I have no idea how anyone can complain about Dawn after having to put up with Connor. Clearly my least favorite character in the Buffyverse.

Right there with you. At least Dawn never killed anyone. And she sometimes took the right decisions. Connor seemed to fall for every deception possible and believe everything except the truth. And the idea that the writers expected me to believe the a non-superpowered guy and a freaking baby could have survived in the worst of all hell dimensions really makes me wonder what they were smoking.
 
I'm not saying I like Connor more than Dawn, not at all. But after watching the entire series the 2nd time, I kind of "got" Connor more, and I had empathy for his situation. He really did not have a chance. It was tragic. The whole
Connor & Cordy
thing though, gross, I could've lived without that.
