I'm disappointed...

Tara is what made the series uber-fabulous for me ...i don't know if your question is rethorical but if you want to know pm me and ask and i will tell

I'm not sure if I want to really know yet, does it get explained later on in the series?

Yeah, it's explained in season five, to be honest, it'll probably spoil the episode 'Family' if you find out now 🙂

You'll find out later. I also found that I liked Tara's character and her relationship with Willow a lot more on re-viewings.

I don't dislike Tara, but I really liked Oz and the Willow/Oz relationship, so I have to get used to Tara with Willow.

yeah, i gotta agree with most ppl on this season... overall it wasnt so good, but a few of the episodes were an exception. i also couldnt get into the whole initiative thing... i dunno, it just seemed to fake for me lol. season 5 is better, but i personally didnt view buffy the same way after season 3, it was still a good show, just that, i didnt have that feeling i had had when i first starting watching buffy.

I agree, seaseon 4 wasn't the best. I like Spike but I think he didn't really fit in. There should have been more of Xander and Anya who are hilarious. I didn't like the whole Riley and initiative thing, it was all a bit OTT. There were some really good episodes though like, Restless,Hush, Who are you and A new man.

I loved this season, i think its in the top 3, the Initiative wasnt as good as Angelus or faith but its still good.
But the stand alones(along with s3) are the best in the buffyverse ever. And i think this was one of the best seasons(like s2) for
the characters and their performances

I think I agree with the general opinion of the majority of the posters here. There were some really awesome episodes (even the "Beer Bad" which I heard from my friends when I was watching before I joined this board is loathed among Buffy fans because of douchey Parker... mostly because I love that Willow didn't fall for his crap), but I didn't dig the Initiative as a whole. "Hush" gave me some nightmares the night after I first saw it. Yeesh. I think I'd go with my favourite being either 5 or 6 (I dig them both a lot) and then 2 or 3. Not really sure what order I'd put 1, 4, and 7 in, but it looks like they're the bottom of the sack by default.

I really wonder why season 4 is everyones least favorite season! It's by far my favorite. I think most people don't like Riley.. I liked him though, and I love the season because it's alot less gloomy than any of the others!

The first time I saw it, it was mu least favorite but when I rewatch it, it became better for some reason. Its not the best but I'd say its in the middle

i love season 4, it had too many hilarious episodes to not like. you have to understand they were also trying to get out of a high school oriented environment.

I really enjoyed season four. I liked the lack of structure compared to other seasons where the villain can sometimes get a bit boring. I love Tara but The Oz/ Willow relationship was brilliant! I also really missed Oz as I thought his humour worked really well against Xander's.

The problem with s4, to me anyway, is that, even though it has quite a lot of memorable episodes (from Beer Bad to Wild at Heart) the Initiative arc just seems to lack some kind of urgency, and that makes it a lot less compelling than for example s3.

I mean, it seems all a bit rushed. It's like the writers though halfway through, 'Oh yeah, we need a Big Bad', and came up with some modern crossover between Frankenstein's monster and the Terminator. Which is a shame, because like I said, the individual episodes are almost all really good. There are some great character developments, there is Spike..

Beer Bad karma. the ep gets dissed so much! :)
Well maybe that season was made mostly to be a character-development season? I mean, we did get a LOT of that in Season 4. Willow turns gay, Oz leaves/comes back cured/leaves again, Giles has a mid-life crisis, Buffy "gets over" her whole bad-boy phase and whatnot, Xander is forced to grow up (even though he IS stuck in his parents' basement), Spike isnt able to kill anyone, but in my opinion he's at the TOP of his evil game, so ya know, that did it for me. haha.

And of course, it has "Hush", "Something Blue", and "Restless".

season 4 was alright, not my fav season, although it did have funny episodes,
something blue,
beer bad
a new man

I liked season 4 a lot, but I thought that Adam was just so/so as a "big bad". In fact, I would say that he was my least favorite villain, with the exception of the Master. Also, I didn't like the Initiative very much, Riley was annoying, I didn't like how easily Xander and Willow were willing to squabble with Buffy...

Actually, I'm making some pretty good points here. I guess I don't like season 4 as much as I thought. 🙂
