I have finally had the time to sit down and order the season 8 comics, #1-19, and i can't wait till they ge there. But i'm curios, am i really going to enjoy this season? Is there the same feeling to them as the series had? And will it shock me with secrets?

Thanks,
BL

They dont really feel like the series to me; there are brief moments that do seem like the series but I feel overall the whole thing is far too 'comicy'

funny that :P *hugs*
I'm going to be reading issues #1-19, I hope they're not a disappointment.. I'm looking forward to it.

Yes they do have a different feel to a certain degree. You can tell what they would do and wouldnt do if it had been on tv. But its still great.

best sig ever, loveee that issue. cordy *sniffle*
A Beautiful Sunset feels the same as an episode of the tv program. The rest....

Does it have the same feeling the TV series had? No, not really. It's much more fantasy-based than the show...there's a lot more action, mystical happenings and creatures, etc. Really, they couldn't have made it like another season of the show. There's a good chance that it would be boring in comic book form, and even if it wasn't, they'd only be able to put a very finite amount of dialogue in each issue and you'd have to wait a month or more to see what happens next.

So basically, if you're expecting another season of the show that's just on paper, you're definitely going to be disappointed. If you're looking for an enjoyable comic with some witty, Jossian dialogue thrown in the mix, you'll like it.

I love them! I've only got the 1st 5 though (Long Way Home) I loved 'em, I've re-read them a couple times. all though everytime i'm like "this lint is so scottish?" WHAT?!

Well, I read the first two volumes that they had at Barnes & Noble. (Yes, I treat B&N like a library ^_^) In my opinion, they weren't that great. I felt thrown into the story without knowing what was going on. Also, the story seemed far-fetched and unbelievable at times... well, a lot of times. There were some good bits of dialogue, and I enjoyed some of the drawings, but overall... I wasn't impressed. It did not have a real "Buffy" feel to it. Of course, that's all subjective, so... 😉

I have tremendously enjoyed Season 8 so far.

But it's entirely a matter of individual taste. You can't know whether you'll like it or not until you get into it.

Content-wise, it's not a lot like the TV series. How could it be, after all? Sunnydale is gone and there are hundreds of Slayers now. Things have moved on to another level.

But thus far, I love the directions Joss and his fellow writers have taken the stories, and the characters, in.

I'm enjoying it so far. It's really well written and personally way more enjoyable than S7. However, we're still in the middle of the season, there are still 21 issues until the season's final, so you have to be patient.

already got The Long Way Home Part 1, which is weird, cause i ordered it Friday, but here are my thoughts:

-I kind of like the idea of all the squads, but there has to be more than a couple thousand slayers activated.
-I hate the idea of Dawn being a giant
-I like the idea of Amy being back
-I hate that Warren is back
-I like that Rona and Vi, two of the greatest potential-turned slayers are leading
-I hate the Buffy/Satsu relationship, while i love how Willow is now hiding her relationship with Kennedy.

Overall i give this first issue, 6/10...maybe a 7.

I hope the others are better :/

I must respectfully disagree! I think that every dollar I've spent has been worth it. Now that we are nearing the halfway point of the season, I hope the pace will pick up and be able to change everyone's minds.
People who love the comics are a strange breed to me...there obviously must be different kinds of pollution you're inhaling where you live...😀

Ease down Johnny, I wasn't attempting to ruffle your undergarments...made an innocent joke...deep breaths.

The first fifteen issues I bought with a gift card that I won in a singing contest, so I didn't waste any money. But lemme tell you this...
If I didn't have the gift card, I would have tried to find another way to buy them, because their just THAT awesome. ^_^

Eh, I have read some summaries about the season 8 comics, but it just seems so wrong to me. Who ARE these people? I just don't want to kill my whole approach to buffyverse by confusing myself with this stuff.

What do you guys think....did you enjoy the continuation in season 8 series or was it disappointing? Would you recomment them or no?

Enjoyed them. Not disappointed. Do recommend them.

It's not a lot like seasons 1-7, but it's Whedon... it's canon... and it's good.

I just ordered the three trade paperbacks from Amazon today so I don't have to keep sifting through a growing stack of floppy comics.
