"I'm old enough to BE a babysitter" How would Buffy react to that line?

How do you think Buffy (or Joyce) would react if Dawn wanted to babysit, just put that picture in my head... Dawn wouldnt be my first choice by a longshot and I dont think its something she'd want to do, unless she REALLY wanted money...

Babysit at other peoples houses? Sure, I can't see why that would be a problem. Dawn could've gotten to learn to be a bit independent and earned some pocket money. Though once they know she's the Key they might have been more reluctant to let her go out on her own.

Babysit kids at the Summer's house? No... I think both Buffy and Joyce would have known that too much stuff happens around there for it to be a safe place for kids.

Dawn couldn't be trusted to not go out with vampire boys on blind dates, she couldn't be trusted to not hang out at other vampire's (chipped or not) crypts, she couldn't be trusted to not shoot holes in the walls with crossbows. She couldn't even be trusted to not order pizza for dinner, and Buffy or Joyce would be even the least bit apprehensive about her taking care of someone else's children?

I don't know, that's a hard one.

How much is she gonna get paid?

I think Buffy would be nervous, just a little, but could probaly be talked into allowing it.

As Even at another house its STILL on the hellmouth.

I don't think Buffy would allow it. Too many dangers of demons and vamps trying to get to her if they learn she's the slayer's sister. Dawn wouldn't be happy about that of course.

Maybe in S7 and beyond but before that? I don't think so, Dawn could be too irresponsible at times. She was too bratty in S5 and Buffy woudn't have allowed it anyway. I suppose she could've gotten a couple of babysitting jobs in S6 .

Come to think of it that might've made for a pretty decent idea for a Dawn-centric episode- I'm thinking like 'House Of The Devil' here or something. Either the parents are evil (cultists? We don't see enough adult cultists on Buffy, they're all in LA) or the child is possessed by a demon or is supposed to be a sacrifice or something.
Certainly would've been better than 'All The Way'.

Agree that it could've been a good idea for a Dawn episode, though All the Way could have been kept as well 🙂
I'm sure there would've been a way to do it without it being too similar to the possessed child on Angel (s.1)

Actually, the more I think about it the more I'm like - why didn't Dawn get to do something like that around season 6 when money was obviously tight? Season 5 I get it, but season 6-7 Dawn was obviously more responsible and they didn't really have a lot to do with that character. Giving her something to do would only have been good for her as well as the viewer, even if it was only for one episode.

The script writers were so busy setting shipping wars in motion

Playing with Anya/Xander shippers feelings by letting the wedding Day arrive, then Xander leaves Anya at the Alter...

I Want Xander flogged for that scene, personally.

And "Hmmmn lets screw around with Buffy/Spike shippers, and give the Bangel shipepers something o screech about?"

They may not have thought of a plot like this, just pointing it out

Sorry for the rant, just your right it seems very obvious, and would have been better to see Dawn babysitting, then to see spike doing his ... Exercises.

Aside from the cult idea?

Maybe some Vampire approaches one of the Tykes windows and gets out A bunch of flashy and yummy Candy?... all he wants is to be invited in..

so many ways to do things.

I think Dawn was right to say she didn't need a babysitter and could have been one herself, and had she been given the opportunity it would have been good for her, gave her responsibilities and money so we didn't have the stealing storyline.
