I'm really liking Season 7 :)

It all comes down to who's judgement you trust. 😉 Some think the comics are even better than the show, some think they're absolutely rubbish and destroy the story and then you have all the people in between. No matter what someone tell you, you can't know until you've read them yourself. So if you can't find them somewhere to read for free I recommend that you wish for the two first TPB (collection of each arc + stand alones), The long way home and No future for you to see how you feel about them.

Personally it felt strange to just read a comic here and there (that's how I started) but I'm liking it much more when I read arcs in full. Not every story is great but as I whole I wouldn't want to miss them.

I agree with Washburne. Buy The Long Way Home TPB (the first one) and also No Future For You TPB (the second arc) and then see what you think. Some arcs are great and some aren't just like the TV episodes, some episodes are great and some aren't.

Personally, I think they're worth it. I'm enjoying S8 a lot.

Aw, you should've been watching Angel all along, with the corresponding Buffy seasons, to get the full effect of the crossovers. I'm such a geek! :embarrassed:

I agree, but I'm finding that I have to read them more than once. They're so short, they just didn't have the impact the first time. I'm picking up the storyline a lot better the second time around. It's just a shift to move from the medium we know into the graphic novel medium, esp for someone (like me) who doesn't typically read graphic novels.

Season 7 is way the best beside season 6.
"Never leave me", "Showtime" and "Chosen" are the best episodes in that season.
I think, season 7 with the story around the first evil made it to the most serious season of all. Defo, FE was the hardest enemy to beat and at some points of the season, it seemed to be a hopeless fight, so it was so cool to watch, that they manage it. The best end for such a great series....

Dawn, to me, is the best character in S7 -along with Anya- they're funny, they're adorable, they're improving. Xander and Willow disappointed me because they seemed to have lost their spirits and became lifeless shells of themselves. 🙁 I like Buffy and Spike -along with the Spuffy story - but the writers seemed to push them to be the coolest, awesomest, wisest characters on expense of the others, and that's why I lost the love.

Good points. I loved the Spuffyness of S7. But my favorite character, Willow, really wasn't there. But Buffy/SMG was so amazing that it made up for it. Although I agree with what you're saying, I have lots of love for S7. I thought it was amazing.

Some good points here, particularly in relation to Xander and Willow. I think the problem for them in series 7 is that their stories came to a natural conclusion in series 6, so they didn't have much left to give. They were the heart of the scooby gang and the show definitely lost something as season 7 developed because of this. The development of the characters of Dawn, Anya and Andrew is the highlight of this series. Along with the big bad characters of the first evil and Caleb. It's definitely enough to keep you watching, but for me the finale of season 6 was the ultimate BTVS moment 🙂

I watched Him a few days ago, it's so much funnier than most sitcoms on tv!
whenever that music comes up the theme from a summer place I always think about old man Jasper and a hilarious scene with him from The Simpsons 😛.
but anyway, I understand the reasons for not liking this season very much, I would have wanted some more 'scooby core' stuff, maybe a little less Spuffy and a lot less of kennedy, but I still love it. 😉 Selfless, Him and Storyteller are amazing episodes.

I cannot stand season 7. It had a couple of good episodes, Selfless, Storyteller, Same Time, Same Place and Him. Him doesn't have much of a plot and its worth the last five minutes. So funny.

I liked the character driven stuff before it all got pushed out of the way when the Potentials arrived. God, talk about worst characters ever and Killow. I hate it when every episode someone says " From Beneath you, it devours" we know the Big Bad is coming. Do we need reminding every episode?

I like it too and it contains some good episodes.. First time I watched "Chosen" I cried hysterically because of Spike's death.. But my favorite episode is a s7 episode. (Lies My Parents Told Me).

Bringing up Spike's semi coherent state for a minute. "Him" points out at the beginning that the first tormenting him in the basement was doing a fair job of driving him batsy. When Angel was first cursed he was still mostly sane. That's why when Spike leaves the basement he just becomes Sir Broodsalot Jr.

i mean, The First was the worst bad guy in the history of Buffy, good idea but could have been executed a hell of a lot better...

SO happy your liking it. I loved Anya, but there are always casualties in war, and if anyone has to die, i'm happy it's Anya over any other character.

It's funny, I really didn't like season 7 when I watched it the first time. I just felt like the spirit of the show was gone or something. It wasn't until the last 5 episodes that I really got sucked in again, and even then I found the potentials infuriating and was kind of hoping the first would just annihilate them so they wouldn't clog up anymore screen time.

Upon re-watch though, I'm pleasantly surprised to find how many of the episodes are a lot better than I remembered. Still not a fan of Him, Same Time, Same Place or Conversations with Dead People, but the heart of what the show was is still there. And, you know, Spuffy. As a fan, It's really cathartic to finally see Buffy genuinely care about Spike because their emotional connection is worth so much more to me than just a long string of booty calls. I feel like he finally deserves her love. (Wow, I so did not mean to post a romance novel in response to this thread. Shutting up now.)

It used to be my least favourite season, but I think it just got bumped up the list and instead replaced by season 4 (I love the stand-alone's but they're not enough to make up for the hulking mass of pointlessness that is riley. See, i don't like him so much I'm not even going to bother capitalizing his name.)
