Right now, I am on my fourth BtVS re-watch. I'm on season 2 at the moment. Finished Halloween last night. It's great re-watching because you get to catch all those "little" things that make that season soooooooo good!

BUT

I find myself itching and urging to just skip everything and go straight to season 4. I hate season 4 with a fiery passion (not as much as s7 though). The main reason I want to skip to s4, is because of my OTP Tillow. And even after that I tend to just skip episodes where they aren't being cutesy together. Then when I do get to their scenes I just jump with glee and then it's over, and then I re-wind. This completely throws me off of my re-watching game and I realize I fail at life lol.

I finally decide to continue with the re-watch, skipping a few boring episodes here and there, until I get to s5 and s6. I LOVE THESE TWO EPISODES MORE THAN I LOVE KITTENS! Anyways, I always watch every single episode of these two. Well, I won't watch after Tara dies. I absolutely just can't watch it unless I need a good cry. When I do decide to watch it, I'm already really pissed off that ALL of my favorite characters have been killed off and what not.

Then I get to s7. Absolutely HATE this episode. I hate almost everything about it. Especially Willow and Kennedy. That right there makes it painful to watch (exceped Touched. That episode is too hot NOT to watch (sw) ) To be honest, I've only seen all of s7 once. I just can't do it.

On this re-watch, I'm trying to watch everything, actually make it a real re-watch lol. No skipping of episodes I hate and I 'm going to watch s7 even if my eyes bleed.

My question to you guys is, do you guys feel the same way. Do you get itchy to get to a certain season or episode? Have you ever skipped episodes? Do you let ships get in the way of watching or not watching certain episodes?

Has anyone actually done a full-rewatch with a fresh mindset?

I do not understand if you are going to rewatch the series, why you would skip episodes. It's only through rewatching and seeing all of the bad episodes and all of the plot holes and Jossups (where he bungles his way through plots and rather than saying he messed-up left it) do you begin to realize that it was not the series you thought it was when it was on the air. There were many more 'throw-away' episodes than I thought.

I get what you're saying. I just begin by saying "I'm going to do a -re-watch" and then it all goes down hill from there. But this time, I'm determined to watch it all 😉

Sometimes I do, but since I'm a completionist, I will always watch everything in the right order. This is why I've only seen the series once in all its entirety. I do rewatch certain episodes, but I won't, for example, watch all of season 4 except "Beer Bad" (even though I'd like to). I've just started a Faith-centric rewatch though. Maybe you could do something like that, too, so you won't feel bad for skipping so many eps? 😉

Oh more Merrick banners I love. :)
I feel the same way. I've watched all seasons twice from start to finish without skipping. However now I can only watch my favourite episodes which also happen to be Tillow ones 🙂 I keep trying to start a full rewatch but just can't bring myself to when I want to just hurry up and start on Hush.

I just started a re-watch myself. I've only skipped two episodes, but mostly because I had watched them by themselves recently (Inca Mummy Girl and Halloween). I'm on season 3 right now, which is the awesomeness... I'm not too excited for season 4, but I am excited to start watching Angel S1 along with Buffy S4! 😀 I've never done that before, and I'm all excited!

In my first two re-watches I didn't skip any episodes... Now I only watch my faves, mostly located in S1-3, 5 and 6.

S4 is my least favorite season, closely followed by S6 and 7. There are just a few episodes I really like and do re-watch occasionally.

I do the same thing except I skip all the Tillow episodes since they're boring 😛 lmao calm down and just watch each episode...the only ep I actually skip is OMWF

Luis, I almost hired a hit man -____-
I get really impatient when I do re-watches. in season 1 I'm just waiting for season 2. In season 2 I'm just waiting for Angelus to come. in season 3 I have a tendency to watch Lovers Walk and Band Candy.. MAYBE Gingerbread and Graduation Day parts one and two and say I've re-watched it. in season I'm just waiting for season 5. in season 5 I'm just waiting for Riley to go away. I love season 6. I love season 7.

That's my huge problem, I know all the awesomeness that awaits me so I get impatient, I can't wait to arrive to the next great moment! :D

But if the show's not as good as you thought, why would you even be on this board? I'm just asking out of curiosity... I know if I rewatched a show and found myself not loving it as much as I did back then, I wouldn't continue posting about it. But that's just me... Seriously, I'm not trying to run you off or anything Sco. LOL I just don't understand why you seem so bitter over the show?

Personally? YES there are always episodes I want to skip, in every season. For instance, episodes like "Killed by Death" and "Restless" are stupid to me, so I don't like watching them, but if you skip episodes you miss cute little interactions between the characters, or getting to bask in the randomness in some of the humor on the show. So I try really hard NOT to skip, although I do admit that I might get up and clean house or something while certain episodes play in the background. 😉

The interactions are my number 1 motivation to not skip an episode :D

I am not bitter, I just find alot of things wrong with it.. more than before each time I watch an additional episode. That has been going on since BBTV started and started watching again in order.

This. But - *gasp* you don't like Restless? That ep would make my top ten, lol.

I've been re-watching the whole series. I'm on Season Six at the moment, and loving it. Anyway, I skipped most of Seasons 1, 2 and 5, just because I've seen most of the episodes anyway. I also skipped Gingerbread and New Moon Rising, since I'd watched them only a few weeks before.

Basically, I just watched the 'main' episodes from Season 1, 2 and 5.

I try not to but I do skip episodes. It's hard not to, especially since I already know what is going to happen. During re-watches I tend to find myself flipping through a magazine or on my laptop during episodes I don't enjoy as much.

I do this too.

* Loving a show less doesn't mean you hate it. And there's still a lof of things you can discuss.
* The wonderful people on this board can make you stay you know that.
* It's Sco. Isn't that enough? 😉

To get back to on topic. Yes I can become incredibly impatient but I don't skip episodes. I've been known to fast forward from time to time though.

Yes, that is pretty much it..
I tend to skip a few episodes that really don't interest me so I can quicker go to the episodes I like.

When I' can't wait to see great moments but don't have the patience to rewatch the seven season, I just watch the seasons episode by episode, going straight to the scenes I really love or that are important to me. I was once naive enough to think I'd be done in one night. It took me a week to rewatch my favourites moment in each episodes of the seven season 😀

It's like a quick almost full rewatch, it allows me to go through important plot lines, funny quotes, beautiful speeches, awesome fight scenes, sad scenes, without losing anything. It's really like watching a Buffy best-of!

When I do full rewatches I never skip any episodes, well except sometimes I do skip 'I will Remember You' and 'I Only Have Eyes For You'. But then again it takes me MONTHS to do a rewatch lol cause I get distracted. Like right now I'm doing a rewatch of Charmed which I've been doing since like October? November? I don't remember and I only have 4 left and still haven't finished lol.

More often though when I'm not doing a rewatch I just watch random episodes that I love. Like I'll do what Mumrik said and do 'Faith rewatches' or 'Cangel rewatches' and just watch episodes surrounding them. I think I've seen "Faith, Hope, and Trick' about 100 times just by itself.

But yeah when I'm watching Buffy I always want to skip season 2 cause I hate season 2 and I want to get to season 3 because I love season 3 so much and then I blow through season 3 and I'm all sad 🙁 And on Angel I love the first three seasons but I'm always anxious to get to s3 and Baby Connor but then its over and I don't want to continue or just skip to You're Welcome lol.

I'm rewatching the show right now and there are some episodes I'd love to skip (Killed by Death, urgh) but I don't. Even watching the episodes I don't really like, I always catch a funny line or something that I didn't get before. 😀 I'm definitely impatient, but it's usually worth the wait.

On my last rewatch we got up to the end of season four (which reminds me, I really need to finish...) and didn't skip any episodes.

But I definitely get where you're coming from. I found myself wanting to skip certain episodes to get to the good ones.

I found myself doing other things during the episodes that I'm not particularly fond of; going online and having the ep in the background, for example. Amends sticks out particularly for this - I think I ended up having a conversation with my sister during this one, lol. It's just so boring.

I don't skip episodes when I'm doing a rewatch, I find it weird to do cos there's always wee tiny details you miss. I love the details.

Some episodes though, my mind will wander. Like I Robot, You Jane. That one is torture to sit through. Realised on my last rewatch that it was definitely my least favourite Buffy ep.

Honestly, re-watching episodes that you know you won't like and that you already know the ending (and the entire plot) of just seems like a colossal waste of time that could be spent watching good episodes.
