Improving Connor

If Whedon doesn't continue to utilize Connor's character after he re-acquires the series, I'll be majorly disappointed.

I very much agree. Although I stopped reading the comics sometime ago, I have sort of kept up with what's going on, and I will be majorly disappointed if they don't continue with Connor. One of my biggest wishes for the characters is to find out how Buffy would react to Connor. Willow already knew about him, but whether she chose to keep that from Buffy or not, we'll never know. I think Connor and Buffy's interaction would be quite a thing to see, especially when she finds out that Darla is his mother, the only woman she thought of as her rival for Angel's affections.

I'm so excited to see what they do with him now that both shows are under the same umbrella.

As far as Connor is concerned, I think that it would be best for all involved if he and Dawn hook up right after Xander leaves Dawn for Faith.

Connor is one of the main reasons I'm a follower of the ANGEL series. He's become such a large part of the story now especially issues 28 on. I was genuinely saddened with news of Dark Horse taking the title away from IDW who had been doing such a good job of telling Angel and Connor's story. And I'm afraid Joss won't choose to continue with Connor's story or won't even acknowledge what IDW had already done with his character.

I've talked with friends about that very thing Lyri and I'd love to see Buffy's reaction to Connor. Being the 'evil' Dangel 'shipper that I am, I'd relish seeing the jealousy that would overcome Buffy over the fact she couldn't bear Angel's offspring. It would be delicious. But more importantly, it would make for a very entertaining story arc. The meeting I'm more interested in is the littlest Summers' woman meeting Connor. I'd love to see the star crossed romance those two could make (secret Dawnnor 'shipper too).

All in all, there's a lot they have left to do with Connor in both BtVS and Angel & Faith titles. I can only hope Whedon doesn't ignore his character and the potential arcs he could bring to the table. In my perfect world, he'd be a permanent character on Angel & Faith's title - Angel, Faith, and Connor... oh my!

Although I'm happy shipping Dander right now, and I have done since S7, I wouldn't be adverse to a Dawnnor ship. The idea has crossed my mind in the past, but seeing as how I never thought it would ever be an option, I never really gave it much thought. However, in saying that, I think they will have to be VERY careful with how they do it, if they do it. Throwing Connor and Dawn together just because they both happen to be people who popped up fully formed one day could get really old, really fast. The set up would have to be perfect for me to buy it and shy away from Dander.

As we don't know what they're planning for the Angel & Faith series (and GOD, could they please get a better title?!) I can't imagine being able to sustain an ongoing series with just those two characters, as awesome as I think they are. They're going to need support, and right now, I don't think any of the Sunnydale crew would want much to do with Angel after what he did, so I think that support will have to be in the form of Connor and the rest of the LA team, and if it isn't Joss is going to get a very strongly worded letter from me, lol.

I actually like Connor but they could have done more with the character. First of all Cordy and Connor shouldn't have slept together (If they wanted to give Connor a love interest, then they should have paired him up with Gwen or Dawn). Maybe Connor and Angel should have bonded and Connor getting along with other members of AI.

Connor sleeping with Cordelia wasn't about giving him a love interest. As much as it squicks us all to hell, Connor NEEDED to sleep with Cordelia in order for them to conceive Jasmine. Cordelia, the real Cordelia, never wanted Connor like that, and Jasmine merely used him to bring about her own birth.

I actually liked Connor's character a lot. I wasn't crazy about the actor, but he did an OK job. Yes, he was a bit annoying at times and could be difficult but the kid was put through hell, literally! The only thing I didn't like about his character what the Cordy bit; and not so much the fact that they got together (don't get me wrong it was still a bit creepy) but more so the fact that he knew about his fathers feelings towards Cordy and he still pursued her. It felt somewhat incestuous and malicious.

Also I must admit, I am eagerly awaiting the day when Buffy and Connor meet face to face. That will be all kinds of goodness.

I don't mind Connor. I felt really bad for him most of the time, actually. The actor isn't a bad actor or anything, I just don't know if he really fits the role.

Now I'm a little curious about the Connor/Cordelia thing. I know that Joss's initial plan was to have Cordelia become insane from her time as a Higher Being and then she'd be the Big Bad of Season 4 (so to speak, AtS's Big Bads are different from BtVS's) and have some big showdown with Angel. So what would Connor's role have been in Season 4, if not the Connor/Cordelia/Jasmine thing? I'd love to see more of his interaction with Angel...it'd be awesome if by the end of it in Season 4, he and Angel were fighting side by side.

I do have to admit that Conner in season 5 is much better then he was previously, though my favorite Conner moments are when Faith is beating the snot out of him. In all honesty what he really needed was a good swift kick in a**, and he really seems to like Faith even more after she beats him up.

I think Conner would have worked better for me if he had hated Angel but been more of a worthy rival to him. Kind of a "Spike" "Lindsey" or "Jayne" character. He doesn't have to get along with Angel he just needs to stop making horrible decisions for me to like him (lying to Fred and Gunn and being so ungrateful/hateful to them, sleeping with Cordy, killing the innocent girl against his mother's pleas for Jasmine etc).

Conner had (and has) the potential to be an awesome lone wolf/hero character on his own (kind of like Wesley became in Season 4) he's just too easily duped/manipulated by the bad guys for me to respect him much.

Except it is actually your boy who wears the lifts, and has openly said so! And he admitted that he wore them because he thought his girlfriend liked DB and he was jealous.

I do think having Connor hating is father was the best way to go. It was annoying, yes. But living happily after in the Buffyverse is not only impossible, but also boring. So I don't think the writers should have written him differently. It is annoying, he is annoying, but that's a good thing. If he wouldn't have hated his father, what would have been the point of him being in the show, and Angel's son?

I don't like Connor as Angel's adversary at all. That's what made me hate the character. He didn't become likeable at all to me until Season 5 of Angel, when he was playing a well-adjusted kid.

My problem with Conner isn't so much that he hates Angel, it's that he's hateful and mean to every single member AtS (except Cordelia and I think his kindness to her stems from less than selfless intentions) even after these people showed him kindness and genuine concern for months. This constant attitude of "me against the world" when he has Fred, Gunn, Wesley, Lorne, Cordelia, Angel even Faith for a short period treating him like family makes him extremely unlikable.

I could understand his "lone wolf" attitude if he were alone like Wesley was for a while or Lindsey, Faith etc, but he continues to accept everyone's hospitality and unconditional love, patience and forgiveness while treating them all like they are unintelligent enemies.

I'm not even getting into the fact that he helped murder an innocent against the pleading of his mother and attempted to murder Cordelia and many others in the bomb scare.

To me, Conner is the single most unlikable, unforgivable character in the Whedonverse. I agree that Season 5 Conner is likable but I'm not sure I can trust that Conner since I know that all it took was a rough breaks for him to turn into a raging, murderous, whiny psychopath. Wesley, Liam/Angel, Fred, Faith, Lorne (most everyone) went through horrible tribulation and they didn't all turn into psychos (Faith did but she genuinely repented something Conner never does).

This Willow quote from Choices pretty much sums up how I feel about him "It's way too late. You know, it didn't have to be this way. But you made your choice. I know you had a tough life. I know that some people think you had a lot of bad breaks. Well, boo hoo! Poor you. You know, you had a lot more in your life than some people. I mean, you had friends in your life like Buffy. Now you have no one. You were a Slayer and now you're nothing. You're just a big selfish, worthless waste."

Sorry to all the Conner fans I've offended, I just finished rewatching Angel Season 4 and I'm always really riled up against Conner after viewing it.
