If that kind of time lapsed then minutes should at least equal some extended period. It'd be kind of interesting if Buffy was only gone a week or two her time and the brief period she was in the alternate dimension burned through the rest of the summer for her. It'd give her less time to emotionally recover

I have a feeling that was not how it worked. That a day on the outside was decades on the inside. So, if she had been gone the entire summer on the outside, she would have died of old age.

Right, the time moved more quickly on the inside compared to the outside. If Buffy was there for a whole day, only a few seconds would have passed on the outside when she came out again.

She was not in there long, otherwise she would have come out years older. The time that should have passed was probably a few hours inside the realm and a few minutes if not seconds outside. So, there would be no time to ignore outside.

Rickie was gone for less than a day and was nearly dead of old age from being a teen when Buffy found him.

A scenario with the reverse would make for an interesting fan-fic; Buffy is in the alternate dimension and time passes much quicker on the outside; she escapes, rescues people and heads back to Sunnydale only to find that many more months have passed.
Faith has arrived and is already established helping out in Sunnydale with Giles and the Scoobs bonded with her and having helped her defeat Kakistos, Angel has already returned from (a) Hell, still savage and roaming the hills, maybe Joyce has closed up shop and moved away from town for a while...

Given the Ricky and Buffy were roughly about the same age going in I would suggest that Buffy should have gained about eight years of age. Even if it was calculated as being only a five year gain why did none of the scooby's notice how she had aged.

Because she was not in the dimension long enough to age.

Her time spent in the dimension was only a few hours of dimension-time. Given that a day of real world time equalled maybe 70 years of dimension time, then a few hours of dimension time is too short a time to notice in the real world and being three hours older means you are only three hours older.

We know she did not spend eight years inside the dimension in dimension time.

Yeah, time is relative to the dimension the person is in; so Buffy was in the hell dimension for the amount of time that she perceives, and we know how much (or how little) time passed on Earth because of what happened to Ricky; a lifetime of hard labor happened for him, he was used up, and then dumped out on the street the very 'next' day.

In the episode, it seemed she spent hours or days there, at most. That wasn't much time in our time.. moments at most.

I read a fic where she'd spent several years there and came back with the emotional toughness and age of an adult.. still not having been missed b/c it was far less than a day -- but it was several years in the demon world, and lots of fighting and toughening -- and that showed even though she wasn't old. I think it was on bloodshedverse, EF or another Spuffy site.

As i recall, she came out and went straight back to Sunnydale, not feeling afraid or conflicted at all... because she was literally a different person... it was a long time ago so i don't recall the outcome or the name of the story, but it was an interesting idea.
