Has anyone seen this article on the Dawn Character's role in Season 7

Dawn

It kind of choked me up.

I offer the link above to the article in the hope it will lead the Dawn-Haters out there into the light.

Just because Dawn does have a whiny attitude, she's like, sixteen! That's the way she's supposed to act.

Dawn is not a bad character... give her time. She'll be useful somehow.

Okay, so that article was a great read, and it had some great reasons/ideas as to why Dawn acts the way she does. I especially liked reading how the author said Buffy does seem to ignore Dawn because she isn't "special". And as I was reading, I was realizing a bunch of things I hadn't seen before. Great article, thanks for sharing it. As a suddenly new Dawn fan, I enjoyed reading it; especially since it focused on the episode that turned me into a Dawn-liker.🙂

i hate dawn...but i feel like she's been neglected by the writers... they havent had an entire plot devoted to dawn...falkin kennedy gets one in less than 8 eps...why the falk not for dawn when she's been on for countless eps already...

i love Dawn these days, in fact i dont think i ever hated her, ive often questioned why they even brought her in if all they were gonna do was try and make her a one dimensional whiner in people eyes, but shes getting better and mroe people are seeing that which is YAY good!

im unhappy though about how shes been 'forgotten' about, can anyone else say big fat plot hole, shes still the key
i have plenty of keys that have no locks/keyholes, and surely she can still open some other portals etc. shes a great big ball of energy for crying out loud

I never had any real problems with Dawn, though she was never my favorite character. She was supposed to be an adolescent, and all things considered, she was a lot less tiresome than many real-life teenagers her (supposed) age. (Like, with 20/20 hindsight, me and about half the kids I went to junior high and high school with.)

I just thought of something.

Isn't there a bit in that article about how Dawn seeks closesness with Buffy, but it isn't there so she finds it elsewhere. He mentions how her and Tara had a bond.

Well...Tara's dead. Doesn't it seem like Dawn is developing a similar bond with Anya?

Anya always seemed to have a warm spot for Dawn. You would have expected her to get angry at Dawn and go all vengence demon on her when she caught her stealing from the Magic Box. She didn't. She forgave her. Forgiveness is contrary to Anya's character.

In Potential you can see Anya dancing around in exitement in the background when the scoobs think Dawn is a Potential.

Also in Potential there's a scene where Dawn and Anya are sitting next to each other on the couch. There sharing a blanket draped across both their laps.

I'm thinking maybe Anya is Dawn's new surrogate Buffy.
