ILLYRIAN
Druish Pervonian Wizard
In the depths of Spike’s crypt.
A search that found only a greater question for him, he had wanted to have a sexual relationship with Buffy yet he only wanted to be a friend with Buffy’s mother. What caused him the greatest anguish was the depth of feeling he had for the young girl Buffy saw as her sister. He did not want to have that friendship become physical.
He was able to tell Dawn how he felt without feeling the need or want to kiss or notify her friends of a will to promote a need to touch her. He slowly turned to face Dawn in his chair how she faced the television and how happy she seemed, Spike was unsure what program she was watching though it became apparent to him that it did not matter.
It was at that point that Spike understood what it was that he saw in Dawn, it was then that he saw a wondrous sight, though it was not a refection he saw himself stood a foot or two beyond his crypt. Spike saw himself point towards Dawn, it was when he looked at her he did understand the words it is better to have loved and lost.
Spike looked to Dawn knowing he did not love Dawn yet he knew her as a friend, a friend whose want to have him be a friend to her. That saying was true for them though if he changed the wording from love to friendship; he knew in that instance that he had truly found the wonders of being a true friend to, and from.
Spike leant back on his crypt and looked at Dawn as she smiled to the television. Even though she was not thinking of him Spike knew a great happiness, he was glad that he could see within her a the same happiness. He knew as he looked to Dawn, to see her curled up on the chair and be so happy he realised he was bereft of all words.
Though the words he longed to hear from Dawn would speak directly to him, to the breath in the lungs within his chest, he was glad she could know peace within the confines of his home. In that moment he realised their time spent together gave him hours, minutes or mere seconds to be treasured within times passing of sweet and of a fullness.
Spike was glad for in that second there was no allowance give or projected from the green-eyed monster, that no canker could deem to separate what they knew as the joy to be a friend with the other. Spike walked to be near the chair where Dawn watched the television, he moved a stool to be next to the chair – he was content to be near her.
