In the ep. Who are you when buffy and faith are switched....Faith goes and sees riley...they end up sleeping together.... willow and tara do the nether realm spell, in the scene after that, buffy freaks when she's with riley....she then says something like

Who are you? What do you want from h-her?

Who's saying this? Is it Faith and she just forgot everything or willow seeing through buffy or what?

um in my opinion faith has never had any kind of true unconditional love given to her. after she said that she also said something like 'this is meaningless' and probably associated it with something like i dunno seducing xander the season before.

to me it really showed that faith obviously still cared about buffy and she was taken back by what riley said after they slept together. she might have felt bad about it or something.

Reilly also says he loves Buffy for the first time to Faith and, Faith, who views sex as a purely physical thing and as a way to express and assert her power can't understand the love and intimacy that Reilly feels for Buffy. To Faith Sex is meaningless, she thinks that Reilly must want something from Buffy, have some ulterioir motive for being physical with her. I think this is where Faith is really confronted with the differences between herself and Buffy and the deficencies in the way she lives her life which ultimately makes her receptiove to Angel's advise when she high-tails it to LA. Love this ep!

yeah! exactly. just the words i was trying to find lol
Thanks for the explanations! I actually never understood that scene either. I too thought it might have something to do with Willow and Tara casting that spell but it makes so much more sense now when I rewatch it that Faith truely didn't understand Riley loving Buffy and them having a sex because they were in love.

Wow! I totally forgot that scene until I read these replies.

I was kind of confused when she said that and now I kind of know what she meant! I have to see these episodes again because they are some of my favorites. (Also because I understand it a little more, thanks to you guys!:tongue2🙂

thats actually an interesting take on the scene; i never thought of it that way. what i figured was that through the spell, willow was somehow taking over buffy's body too or something, and trying to figure out who was in it, and thats why she was asking who it was. that, or the reverse, and faith was trying to figure out what willow was doing. i think what you guys are saying kind of makes more sense though. BB teaches me so much 😀.

I think it is worded so that it can be understood in the context of the scene it is in. However, my belief is that since we see the spell just before it, Willow has entered the Nether Realm (perhaps the realm of the Auras that Tara can see) and has made some contact with "Buffy" spiritually. Faith feels the presence (possibly subconciously) and asks who it is and what they want with Buffy. She appears confused - a reaction due to the combination of Willow's contact and having "made love" for the first time.

Another thing that - I feel -supports this is the actual spell Willow and Tara use. It consists of Willow's spirit partially leaving her body, presumably to make contact with Buffy. Also: I know that magic is clearly being used to symbolise sexual relations or feelings between W & T, but Willow's...moan....seems to occur at the same time as Faith and Riley orgasm. It seems she made contact at a sligtly inapropriate time!

yeah me neather, nicely thought
great epsisode! I also agree with some of you. Faith started freaking out because Riley said he loved her.
well, not her of course, but Buffy.
That's why she's sometimes jealous of Buffy. I mean, she has an amizing group of friends who are there for her whenever she needs them and then she had Angel (which, let's face it, Faith was atracted to) and then she has this new boyfriend who cares for her. It's too much for Faith, she's not used to people caring about her and when she was on Buffy body she got to experience all that.
