This thread was kinda inspired by Hostile 17's Champions one 🙂

In your opnion, who is the real champion between Spike and Angel and why??

I would say Angel because he has been through much more than Spike has and has saved the world many times. Also he is much more selfless than Spike is...*whispers* and better looking!

Does that make me shallow ???
 
I agree. Angel is the real champion. Spike is just a good guy.
 
I believe that both are equal in their own rights, but Angel has been doing the champion thing a whole lot longer than Spike has. But Spike has done a few selfless acts (at least towards the end of season 7), I just think both are equaled as the way it should be.
 
I think that if there's a choice of one or the other it will be Angel...but only because it's his show. I don't think that just because he's been doing it longer should mean that he's better. He was also MORE evil and probably took a lot more lives then Spike. Not to mention he was cursed he didn't CHOOSE to be good. I think that when all facts are considered they are equal. Not that I care really...I just wanna see 'em both do their naked dance!
 
Has to be Angel. The guy has been fighting a lot longer and he also doe's it because he wants to. In Hellbound they say:

Spike: Then why even bother? (scoffs) Try to do the right thing, make a difference...

Angel: What else are we gonna do?

Angel doesn't believe he is ever going to be forgiven but he still does it because he cares. The only reason Spike got a soul was because he wanted to get into Buffy's pants. You all talk about how Spike gave his life to save the world but he didn't know the amulet would kill him. As he said himself:

Spike: Didn't do much, really. I just stood there... let the fire come. Nothin' real heroic about that.

Don't get me wrong I love Spike. But I think people like Gunn and Wesley are more champions than him.
 
I think Angel is the Champion. Angel didn't ask for his soul but he has been trying to make amends for all the horrible things he's done. Its true that Buffy offered him insperation but in the end Angel does what he does because he wants to stop evil. For Spike its all about Buffy. He got his soul for her and he fights for her. Its just a bonus for him that while he fights for her he is getting redemption.

Thats why I think Angel is the Champion.
 
I think there's not a real champion,...they both are real champions,...maybe Angel is better than Spike cuz he really cares about people and saved the world more times...but they both deserve to be called Champions.

And,one more thing...you guys are saying Angel didn't get his soul...I think you should watch I Will Remember You one more time...
 
Angel...i no he didnt want his soul..but he fights for the world not just for buffy...like Spike dus/did..
 
I say Angel becasue i still think the reason he was sent back from hell was becasue he is the champion.
 
Well. Considering that the show is not over... I am not able to make a decision. When the final line is said and the show ends... only then can a decision be made.

I'm sure all of you know which way I am leaning towards though. Considering all of the things that Spike did (number one big important: he died to save the world. Even though Angel was sacrificed to save the world, i think there is a difference.)

But with the most recent decision by Angel in the latest episode (I don't want to say what cuz I don't want to spoil people, but if you've watched then you know), I find it hard to find a champion in Angel right now. I know he was thinking logically, but still...
 
I'd consider Angel the champion. He had his soul forced on him, yet he always continue to try to make amends.
 
I chose Spike because he wasnt cursed he chose to have a soul. he also sacrificed himself to save the world and i dont think that angel has sacrificed himself to save the world has he.

I agree with Jules 100%, to me Angel is the champion whereas Spike only got his soul and did most of the good things he did for Buffy.

Angel has saved the world a lot more times then Spike. The difference is that Angel didn't get killed while doing it. Spike never really sacraficed himself. He had no idea that the amulet would do that and it didn't look like he could take it off when it started glowing. Sacrificing yourself is like what Buffy did in season 5.
 
I don't believe that there can only be one "true" champion. I think both Angel and Spike (and maybe even some others!) deserve the title.
 
Spike did NOT get his soul back to "get in buffys pants" I totally disagree, he was in love, thats why he spent 3 years following her, thats why he nearly let Glory kill him for her, thats why he went all the way to africa (I think?) to get his soul back. Some people might think that there relationship was just fake and meaningless. It was meaningless, Spike loved buffy with all of his heart, but buffy didnt love spike back.

Anyways, back on topic, I think this is a hard chioce, I mean you can say Angel because hes spent the last what 5 or 6 yrs saving people for his redemption, but then Spike had a chance to excape from the hellmout, but he wanted all the demons to die, so he should get it aswell. I could go on like this for ages say something good about spike, then angel, but they both have done remarkable things for the world, I'm just gonna agree to disagree here....
