Inappropriate Shows For Your Age

Are there any shows that you watched when you were young that looking back you feel were inappropriate for the age you were?

I watched X-files from when I was about 10, and yeah, that show totally gave me nightmares. 😀 I convinced my mum I could handle it though and never told her I was scared, so I was able to keep watching! 🙂

Yup. Same here with X-files. So so many nightmares. Was afraid of the shower at one point. lol

A lot of shows to be honest, but it didn't do me any harm. Things like Buffy, Roswell, X Files, Veronica Mars and some other shows.

I just watched my sister did when she was a teenager, even though I was about 9 or 10 at the time.

No, when I was a kid I thought the coolest thing was to watch TV shows the grown ups were watching. I didn't care if they were appropriate or not lol

I watched The Sopranos when I was like 10 or 11 I dont think it really did any damage. But its definitely not something I think a 10 year old should be watching.

And as far back as I can remember my dad and I would watch those Unsolved Mysteries shows about real murdered people and kids. Definitely would not let my kids watch stuff like that.

I watched 90210 from like the age of 6, then melrose. Though the most inappropriate looking back was probably silk stkings.

I was always able to watch whatever and most of the movies/shows I watched were always intended for adults I guess. I don't believe in restricting kids either unless its pornographic or something...I rather talk with them about it then keep them in some shell. However, I come from a different background then most of you i'm sure. Anything on film isn't anything worse then I watched in the world for the most part.

I was 6 when Buffy first aired and the show used to scare me. I also used to watch Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond. They were inappropriate since I was like toddler age but I didn't understand what was going on in the show.

Totally! That's what I was thinking too! Like, oh god, I probably am too old to be so obsessed with buffy and all the other fluff stuff that I love.... I probably should be just listening to public radio and doing crossword puzzles.

My dad showed me tons of movies that scared the hell out of me and things I had trouble watching, but I never though of it as "inappropriate". I know I got nightmares from X-Files, Twilight Zone, and Unsolved Mysteries. I think that's where my fear of aliens and ghosts came from. I am and always have been more scared of ghosts and aliens than "monsters". Extreme violence and "adult" language was normal to me. Sexual things not so much.

Anyway The most inappropriate thing I remember seeing was South Park when it first aired. There was huge controversy about it... and my mom didn't want me watching it. But my aunt taped the first episode and I remember watching it "in secret" with my dad, my aunt, my brother and my cousin. I loved it right away. After that my mom couldn't stop me from watching it so she gave up! ::evil::

My parents were very strict, and we didn't have cable growing up (in fact, they didn't have it at all until 10 years ago). But my friends and I definitely tried to sneak Rated R movies. And (this is going to date me!) I remember watching Three's Company when I was young and now looking back it was probably inappropriate. Back then there wasn't a lot of explicit stuff on regular broadcasting, just a lot of sexual innuendo. And I was too young for even some of that stuff.

LOL, yes! I sometimes feel silly watching Buffy due to my age, but a lot of those actors are my age (David Boreanaz is my age!!).

Besides bits and pieces, this never happened to me... my mom had a lot of TV bans. No Ed, Edd, and Eddy... no Pokemon... no All That... definitely no The Simpsons.

Might have been because watching Spy Kids when I was seven gave me nightmares. I always was a strange child.

I used to watch Are You Afraid of the Dark until my mom came in and told me never to watch it. Same with S Club 7.

I was pretty young too. Perhaps some sort of channel blocker would have been a good thought for my parents 😀

Well I have always been aloud to watch whatever I want except some things like scary movie and raunchy movies when younger but like some of you I remember X-files creeping me out haha I can watch horror but yeah X-Files did the job.

I watched a lot of horror movies ever since I was little I think Dateline is worse though. Inappropriate shows I watched before age were Dexter and shows like that but I mean I don't find them to be that inappropriate but since they are rated TV-MA I guess they can be considered inappropriate so maybe that.

I was really, really young when I started watching those shows. When I was the same age I watched shows like 90210 and Dawson's Creek, but those were not so inappropriate.. although I was way too young for them.

Nope. In fact, when I was growing up, my dad was so strict that in my early high school years when a lot of my classmates were watching shows like "Boy Meets World", "Step by Step" or "My So Called Life", I was still watching reruns of "Mary Tyler Moore", "Dick Van Dyke", and "The Monkees" on Nick at Nite. LMFAO
It wasn't until I rebelled and moved in with my mom in the later part of my junior year of high school that I started discovering shows that were actually meant for kids my age. I started watching the WB when it came out, with BtVS, "Dawson's Creek", "Roswell", etc. and that kinda showed me that my dad was really being too picky with what I was allowed to watch.
