Taking away Political allegience, today is a massive day in Amerian History.
As little as 8 years ago, did you think it possible within a decade a man of any colour other than White would hold the highest office in the US?

I really didn't care 8 years ago. I was 10. However, I do think that it didn't matter if he was black, mixed, or white, I still wouldn't like him. I believe it doesn't matter a guy's color of skin if he can win the votes. And I think, yes, any black guy could have won the election, not just Obama.

I'll tell you something though, you're very ignorant of your countries internal issues with the fact you're not able to understand how significant this is.

Also, your comment about your belief, well to be quite honest is bull.
In this very election you had people from your own country making comments saying 'There is a reason the White house is white'.

This is about equality, something you are completely disregarding by saying what you're saying.

It is still an issue on alot of differing things.
Only 2 months ago Prop 8 was voted on in California that restricted a group of people in your home country, something that is completely wrong.

This is a step forward but the road is still long.

I find this all kind of embarrassing myself.

You know those contestants that get up in front of the judges and claim they are the next American idol? They start talking about how they're the total package, and such, then they sing, and they're clearly not. That's what this reminds me of. Only it's like all of America is that contestant, and Obama is their fantasy talent, and me being Canadian, I feel like the little brother who's the only one in the family who gets the fact Big Sis can't actually sing.

Realistically what you've got here is a guy who's never shown any ability of getting anything done being thrust into a period of American history where the country can easily find itself joining the ranks of the third world. Realistically Americans should be shivering in their boots right now, crossing their fingers, and hoping he doesn't screw up too bad, not chanting and singing about the greatness of "the one". Let him actually do something great (or at least good) first. Personally I think the only election promise you can expect this guy to come through on is driving up the cost of electricity per home.

Yet you have this kind of religious affirmation of faith flying in the face of what the facts would seem to suggest.

Did you see This One, where the celebrities pledge to be good Obamatons? As I said...embarrassing (moreso, because Michelle Trachtenberg is among the celebs).

My statement was right. He got the votes. He won. It didn't matter that he was half-black. He used that to his advantage. He campaigned well. And he won. Despite the fact that there are people out there who continue the notion of assassinating the president based solely on the fact that he's black.

There will always be racists in this world. That's one factor in why he won. But the other major factor was the people who aren't. The people who saw past his skin color and voted for him because they believed in him.

Though I see that the issue of racism has gotten a LOT better in the past 40 years, I don't see the issue of homosexuality getting better, at least for a while. Mainly because there are still WAY too many people out there in America thinking homosexuality is wrong.

of Bush & McCain.. if Bush had not have totally screwed the pooch and the Repubs had someone with a friggin pulse (mccain is a good man but come on) it would have been a much different election. Timing played the largest part in his election.

But really, I do support Obama as our president. I don't support all the "Black Power!" that has emerged since he got elected. And I find it incredibly tacky for kids to go around screaming "Black Power!" in the halls the day after Obama is elected. And if I hear it tomorrow when I go back to school, I may have to risk my scholarships and acceptance to college.

And, unfortunately, Black History Month begins in 12 days. I won't be hearing the end of it for another month.

And the only reason I say these things is because it HAS been overplayed. Especially among the black people. And yes, I get tired of hearing it day in and day out.

And I'd much rather have David Palmer as president. 🙂

All those centuries of subjugation, slavery, lack of equality and down right appalling behaviour that still hasn't exactly left them, how dare they spend a few months celebrating a turning point in history.
