I was in another forum and there was a thread about this guy who's in love with his sister... ::huh1:: ::uh::

Anyway... here's what he said...

Yet again, I must bring myself to ask of people, why do you discriminate against me for the way I love? I am not a pervert, or a monster. I do not molest anyone, nor do I ask that you must partake of the same sexual practices. I only ask that you leave me and my adult sister be in love, and affirm that love with marriage.

No bigoted laws against "incestuous marriage" will change our deep love for each other, nor keep us from being together however we see fit. Why should we be persecuted for our love? If we were to homosexuals, we would be protected from discrimination.

Please understand, our love is only sick by the backward standards of the same bigots who think homosexuality is a "disease."

All my sister and I seek is a little understanding, and legal recognition of our love.

I can't seem to get my head around this... does anyone else think this is sick!? Does anyone think they should be given the same acceptance as homosexuals should...?

Views people please...

Yeah, I think it's sick. The homosexual part makes me think so. I mean, having sex with the same gender and having sex with your sister is two different things. And this guy wants to get married to his sister? I don't think they should be accepted like homosexuals. I mean, you aren't putting anyone in harms way if you're homosexual, but then again if you and your sister have sex, and she gets pregnant, I heard that they baby will come out mentally challenged. I think that anything that could put someone in harms way should be illegal.

That's a good point. I think you're right. Not all babies will come out that way but the possibility is there and that's enough to be able to say that they are putting people in danger! Anyone else!?

I can't say that I think it's actually 'sick' but I just find it hard to understand how an actual sexual relationship between siblings begins. What makes a brother and sister feel sexually attracted to each other in the first place? Why do they not just feel the love that a brother and sister should feel for each other?

I cannot comment on someone I do not know as being sick or perverted because they have fallen in love with their sibling, that would be unfair as I don't know the circumstances and the individuals involved.

I do understand however that there are genetical reasons why they should never obviously have children as chances are the children would suffer some degree of disability or deformity etc

You have to wonder how much does this actually go on in society? It's not something that you hear about much to be honest. Alot of people are gay and I see nothing wrong with that as they are not related but incest is really a different matter as it is close relatives having sexual relationships. Homsexuality is just two people of the same sex having sexual relationships - they are not the same thing.

I try to be as open minded as I can but I do find it very hard to comprehend an incestuous relationship between brother and sister. If society accepts a relationship between brother and sister, then in the same light they would therefore have to accept sexual relationships between mother/son or father/daughter too as basically incest would be deemed to be ok.

I don't think incest will ever be accepted by society, or really understood but I guess if those two siblings choose to live their lives together then they have a very hard life in front of them, with no children and never being accepted by anyone that knows they are brother and sister. Their only chance at a 'normal' life would be to move to somewhere where they are not known and just to live together as man and wife.

I don't envy them because they probably see nothing wrong with the fact that they love each other.

I don't think they will ever be accepted.

I get what you're saying Cordy! I feel guilty now for commenting on them but I can't help how i feel! I don't agree with incest because, as you said, society would have to accept Father/Daughter relationships or Mother/Son relationships... and I just cannot fathom something like that! I have my reasons.

Anyway, I have to say that I accepted homosexuality because you can't help who you fall in love with. Perhaps this is the same as that on some level!

I don't think that they should be able to get married.. don't get sth like this..I just can't picture a situationlike the one mentioned above...

All i can say is have you seen the film Wrong Turn...that is the outcome of having an child through incest!!

But i do agree that it is wrong...i personally have been told by my half brother that he fancies me...i now no longer speak to him..as cordelia said how can you have feelings of that type towards any of your close family...i mean third cousins etc i can understand because there not close relatives and plenty of people have relationships with cousins..dont they?? im not speaking from experience here!!

i am a firm believer in you cant control who you fall in love with. as long as neither of the people in the relationship is being taken advantage of(IE: under age, abuse) then i cant bring my self to condemn them.

the only thing i can say against it would be, i would discourage them from having children because the risk of birth defects is there(maybe they can adopt)

I'm sure I read somewhere that there is more chance that a baby will be born with deformities if the parents are second cousins rather than first cousins.

Anyway, I can't make my mind up on this subject. I, personally, couldn't see myself falling in love with my younger brother, whereas with homosexuality, yeah, I can see other women as attractive. (I'm not saying I love other women, but I can appreciate it) Because on some level I understand women being attracted to other women I can understand it, so I accept it.

But maybe falling in love with a sibling is just something that happens to certain people and who am I to put restrictions on love.

Even though I don't think Incest is necessarily right, I think they shoud be able to live with each other but not to have children as I agreed about what previous posters have said about the whole 'them turning out to have a deformity' or what not 🙂

You dont choose who you love....If he really loves his sister then its not wrong he can't help where his heart guides him nor can she we have no power over these things...And the law shouldn't stand between them.... nothing should cause everyone should have the right to be happy and in love and if you find someone you can love and cherrish for the rest of you life then why stop that? Even if its with family....

Well, I suppose that's fair. If you love someone, then what should it matter who they are? But, how could someone fall in love with a sibling, and that person fall in love back. Like Akasha said, her half-brother fancied her, but she didn't feel the same way. I don't understand how both of them could have had that same feeling to initiate such a thing!

I don't think there's anything wrong with it, I mean they're both adults, right? No one is being forced to? If they like it, then why not, as long as I don't have to, they're not bothering me. Having children is a second thing, for their children's sake, they should either adopt them, or have sperm/egg donors.

It could be that they were brought up in an atmosphere where that kinda thing is normal.. a lot of people are very openminded nowdays and as many of you have said if they are both consenting adults and dont have children..then its ok as no you cant help who you fall in love with..i could just never imagine having a relationship with a sibling and definately not with my mum or dad ewwww *have a horrible visual now*

But going back to my brother there is a lot more to that story it happened when i was 6 yrs old and he was 13...we both have the same mum but different dads...he kinda did things to me that he shouldnt have..i didnt tell anyone till i was about 12..but nobody believed me untill i confronted him about it in front of my parents and he just said oh it was just mucking about as kids do..anyway i never really saw him much but when i was 18 he came to stay at our house at christmas and everybody was drunk and he tried coming on to me and told me he was in love with me and wanted to have a relationship with me...i got so freaked out and it affected me really badly that a week later i started taking heroin to block everything out...i was on it for 4 yrs and been off it for 4yrs now...but the thing that hurts the most is that my family just kinda shrugged off what happened and i do still have to see and speak to him just to keep the peace as i dont want to upset my mum.
So i cant really understand how a brother and sister can be in love that way and want to have sex...but i do understand that you cant help who you fall in love with.

I hope this makes sense as im crying my bloody eyes out now and cant see what im typing ::crying::

You're right Allycat! They aren't bothering anyone. I feel slightly more guilty. But I just thought it was a very interesting topic. I'm not really sure how I feel about it any more.

I'm glad there are so many open minded people on this forum. I agree with Jules that it seems easier to fall in love with a person of the same sex than that of the same blood. I could be attracted to other women. But I couldn't be attracted to someone who's in my family.

I'm sorry Akasha, I didn't mean to make you cry. I just read what you posted. I hope you're ok! 🙁 I'm sorry about your brother. He should never have done any of that, and your family should have done something about it. I've had the same kinda thing. But it was my dad. He raped me when I was 7. It went on for 4 years til i spoke up. This is the reason why i couldn't get my head around it before. But then, you and I were forced into stuff, and these two are both consenting. So i guess there's a difference.

Oh, I don't know what I'm on about now. ::huh1::

Poor you Akasha..If you ever wanted to talk juts pm me or come on msn..I'm glad you're better now tho..

Elmo same goes for you..It must have been horrible for you ::uh::

Awww im sorry hun yeah the thing with my brother went on for a few years..at the time i knew it was wrong but he used to threaten me too so couldnt say anything. But your dad thats gotta be bad...do you still see him?

ana8 thanks hun im ok though it would be good to talk on msn soon though and catch up 😀

No, when I spoke up about it, I got whisked away by Social Services. He used to threaten me too and I was too scared to tell anyone. My Mum didn't believe me so she still lives with him. The last time I saw any of them was 2 years ago. I had to confront him about why he did what he did. He told me he couldn't remember doing it. He said he's not denying it cos he can't deny doing something he doesn't remember. I told him that he could write to me if he wanted and that was 2 years ago. Neither of them have so I've decided to have nothing to do with them.
