There's an lj icontest up at the moment with "icon your favourite non human characters from TV and film". It's quite interesting seeing what people come up with.

So what/who are yours?

I think I mostly like human characters...I usually don't watch supernatural/fantasy movies and Buffy/Angel are kind of the only fantasy shows I watch. For example, I've seen True Blood but I don't love it anymore.

Regardless, none of it matters because my favorite character ever is Angel and the guy's a vampire 🙂 I also think Darla is an exceptional vampiric character, completely original within the genre, and Illyria is, likewise, an amazing non-human character, far beyond most characters.

The only non-human movie I watched recently and remember loving is Only Lovers Left Alive, with Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton. I love their sweet, quiet, eternal love and how the vampires were just a metaphor for the themes of the movie - history and the human evolution (very different from Btvs). The movie was just gorgeous, but the characters aren't favorites at all.
 
Favourite non-human characters? I have sooo many, but I'll list the top ones:

Hmm I actually had to think about this one.
Going to the "Alien" franchise I'd say the Xenomorph is terrifying, I like all of the androids too, Ash, Bishop and David.
I do enjoy the Buffybot. lol. I also like D'Hoffryn. lol. (and of course the vampire whirlwind) There's a lot of non-human characters in Buffy and Angel that are great, I love Lorne! And Illyria!

I love the Alien movies and xenomorphs lol and the android characters are really interesting with Bishop being my favorite among them.

I must confess, the first "Alien" movie I saw was Prometheus. Then I went and watched Alien and Aliens after that. Not seen 3 or 4 though, I hear they are not good. But I do have a soft spot for Michael Fassbender's David. I'm excited to see the new movie, Alien: Covenant.

In the Marvel movies, I'm going with Thor and Drax. And of course Groot! lol.
 
Any of the Guardians Of The Galaxy really but especially Rocket Racoon! Awesome character with a bit of pathos thrown in.

I liked the cool alien who helped 'Montgomery Scottie' from Star Trek: Beyond as well, but can't remember her name.

That is just so wrong. *shakes head*

But my characters would be Chucky, Gizmo, Xenomorph, T-1000, Lestat, Mimic, Silver Surfer (just looks so shiny and chrome), Michael Corvin and Marcus Corvinus in their hybrid forms, Rocket Racoon and not that I'm biased or anything but BABY GROOT.

I'm sure I could think of more but there are really too many to name.

lol. Well Hey I liked Prometheus and it got me interested in watching the first 2 movies. I think I like Alien the best, though.

Also forgot my favorite "alien" on TV, Supergirl! Lol. And Marian Manhunter J'on J'onz! Lol

That's alright at least it got you interested in seeing the other Alien films. 🙂 Alien and Aliens are the best ones and yeah you heard right 4 is pretty terrible lol but there are some good things about the 3rd one in my opinion but it's definitely lacking a lot in quality compared to the first two films. Michael Fassbender is a really good actor I pretty much like him in every role I've seen him in and he did a great job with that role. I can't wait for the new Alien film also I hope it's good and since Ridley Scott is directing it I have high hopes for it lol.
