Innocence vs Surprise

I haft to say that Suprise is better. Although I totally adore the both episodes... I think that Suprise is soo... beautiful 😛 and Innocence is soo sad 😛
 
innocence was more powerful, more intense. until today i try to avoid watching this episode. but surprise... it was one of the best of b/a and the slayerverse storyline. it gets my vote. a beautiful television hour in all aspects.
 
I find it hard to seperate these two because more often than not i watch them as one complete episode. However if i had to choose which 42 minutes i preferred, first or last, i'd say the last.

Surprise was definately a fantastic set up but the payoff was in Innocence, not to mention all the best lines.
 
surprise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is my fave ep of all time i hate Innocence due to the fact that i hate angelus and surprise had lots of happy b/a moments
 
I think that everybody is missing the most important part of Innocence that makes it a great episode...

hello, ROCKET LAUNCHER. say it with me. 🙂

I prefer Innocence to Surprise, mainly because of the rocket launcher, but also because of the heavy emotional aspect. I think it is one of the most emotional moments in Buffy... and it hits hard because it is so realistic... everybody goes through it.
 
Joy of the Rocket Launcher aside, the last few moments of Innocence are just stunning. Giles' speech sort of feels like he's speaking on Joss' behalf - "I'm not going to judge you, and you aren't being punished. You did nothing to be blamed for." And the scene with Joyce is just beautiful. Painful and horrible, but at the same time... Joyce doesn't know what's happened, she can't, but on some level she certainly understands.

Innocence for me, it's just so much more, so much more complicated feelings. And the acting is just beyond great; Willow after seeing Xander and Cordelia kissing - the things she can do with her face, and also from the way she runs you can tell that she's hurt. Buffy and Angel in his apartment before she realized he'd gone evil, and Buffys crying in her bed.. And the rocket launcher, it must be mentioned, man I wanna do that too!

Yea, that was just what I was thinking too, that he "used" Giles to explain, I just watched the commentary where he talked about not wanting to punish Buffy, but that he had to do that storyline so that the show wouldn't get boring.
 
Innocence all the way! Grenade launcher wahahay! Just totally awsume! And Angel what a Bad boy :fighting1
 
Yah I liked Innocence better cause Angelus came back.

I thought it was sooooooo cool how he bit the prostitute and then exhaled her cigarette smoke. That was so hot. LOL
 
WOW!! Tough decision, but all things considered I would have to go with Inocence. Its very hard to choose, though. Largely because I do consider them one episode. Its really the only 2-parter that has 2 different names, but that's because things change so drastically from on episode to the next.

Now, Surprise was a wonderful episode, oz finding out whats really going on in Sunny-D, and not being shocked at all. And what he says to Willow after she asks if he wants to make out with her (Freeze Frame), the beautiful B/A moments. and of course Xander and Cordy, and its when you find out about Jenny's role in all this. Surprise has a lot of significance, but Innocence wrapped the whole thing up.

Innocence was when we really started to get an idea about what Angel was like pre-soul, and we didn't even really get the whole effect until Passion, but that's a different thread. Angelus is so evil, so mean, and the way he didn't want to kill her, that he wanted to hurt her, REALLY hurt her. He blamed her because she made Angel feel like a man, and Angelus hates that. It was also really heartbreaking the way Giles reacted to Jenny after he found out who she really was.

Surprise had a lot of emotion in it, but so did Innocence, and no one seems to have mentioned that yet. There was a lot of emotion with Xander/Cordy/Willow, not to mention that Buffy's heart was broken, more than broken. And the way that Giles reacted to Buffy at the end was very touching, and Joyce too. And you can still tell that Buffy is haveing such a hard time, she is struggling so much with it, she knows she has to kill him, but she can't bring herself to do it, because he still has the face of the man she loves. Both episodes are very touching, but I have to say Innocence makes for the better ep. Like Joss said- "Buffy sad, show good, Buffy happy, show not as good."


And we all know that Angelus is just cool, and ohhhhh those leather pants, "Hello Salty Goodness,"
 
As it has been said above, i pretty much view them as one episode, suprise comprising of the buildup and innocence dealing with the actual event of Angels transformation. Personally because of that reason, I cannot decide between them but thing there are brilliant moments from each episode and of course these episodes both set up the rest of the season.
 
Both episodes really disappointed me - especially "Innocence". Angel's transformation and Buffy's realization of that act had been soooo anti-climatic. Very disappointing.
 
Innocence it show's you the love Angel and Buffy had and I think it's important to see that before he goes and kills Buffy's friends.
 
I just watched the two episodes tonight after dinner. And let me tell you, Innocence wins hands down!

I just love all the drama between evil Angel and Buffy. That is was really, really hooked me in the show. I like the chemistry between Xander/Cordy/Willow. And come on, rocket launcher!! Of course Innocence is better!
 
I'm going to say I preferred: Innocence.

The reason why I liked it better is because Buffy gets to meet Angelus. The emotions of everyone were clearly running high and I loved the scene when Willow found out about Xander and Cordy, I loved how she poured out her emotions, it was truly amazing.

I also loved the fight near the end of the episode, while it's raining because she exploded The Judge. It was cool how Angelus broke through the glass and how Buffy got the umph she needed to smack Angelus around some. Then at the end, I loved this part:

"You can't do it...You can't kill me."
*Buffy kick Angelus and starts to walk away as he falls to the ground*
"Give me time."
