I have to disagree here. I think Angel would be better for sure. I imagine him being a tender lovemaker 🙂 Plus he is taller, I like my men all tall and broody.

Haha. Me too. I see Spike like someone who is rough in the bed, but how they captured Bangel first time.. it was beautiful. And gentle 😀 Tall and broody or nothing 😀

Angel was 26 when he got sired. Buffy turns 17 in that episode.

what always occurs to me is Angel standing confusedly in the middle of a stage kitchen while Chris Hansen goes "why don't you have a seat?"

Maybe with Buffy, but I doubt it with anyone else. 😀 It seemed to me like he was just being gentle with her because she was still young and he knew it was her first time. If it was Angelus, I'm sure it'd be different. Or with Darla for that matter.

I have to admit that I also dislike Innocence simply because it seems unrealistic. Most 16 year olds [yes, I know she was 17, but since she was 17 for around 6 hours I think that she still counts as 16] DON'T go have sex with their 26 year boyfriends. Yes, Buffy isn't exactly average, but I still don't see it.

Haha yeah, just gave me a flashback to good ol' season6 and 4. It always seemed odd to me though, that Dru, as Angel said, never was truly satisfied.

^agreed!i have also heard many stories about younger girls and their older boyfriends...and they have nothing to do with the great love between Angel and Buffy...or Angel's character...it is more than obvious that In surprise Angel doesn't force her...and he tries to avoid it...but he loves her too much and Buffy seems to want only him in the whole world...and it happened!Angel was very gentle and romantic and that's why they didn't show much of the scene...they wanted to make this romantic and loving...just as it was!


PS:And i am sure Angel has a lot of experience on that area...but i think compared to Spike is more romantic and gentle...IMO...and yeah tall and broody...my kind of thing also!!!
 
Again, I disagree about the 17-year-olds having not sex with their 26-year-old boyfriends. I'm not supporting it nor condoning it, but it definitely happens often. Teenagers have sex anyway, and though the age of their partner may come into play, it still occurs.

Anyway, when I first saw this episode, I loved it -- I was not yet a Spuffy fan (I mean, I had the idea in passing but never thought it would be acted upon) -- and I definitely got a little emotional. I mean, it took the standard cliche of "Oh hey, I had sex with my boyfriend and now he's not a good person" and added the "and by he's not a good person, I mean he's an evil vampire now." In a smaller and less specific sense, it can be relate-able to a lot of girls (and boys, I'm sure.)

And as for a comparison between the Spike vs. Angel sex scene, I can honestly say I prefer Spike. As much as I like the lovey-dovey romance of Bangel, I love the rough and raw relationship of Spuffy -- be it devoid of "love" at all (though this can be argued, I guess.)

It depends on the relationships between the two people involved, if it's serious age should not make too much of a difference, there are 9 years between my wife and myself. But if it's just purely a sex thing, then I think that is where we get the problems.

I think that Spike was a better lover and person for Buffy, he always appeared more positive and realistic about their relationship, he could have been a little more sensitive at times.
 
I am certain Angel was being very gentle with Buffy cause she was young and it was her first time in Innocence...but still i see him as a very romantic person in general!I think Angel manages to combine passion and romance(In IWRY he finally finds happiness with the person he really loves...great scenes really!🙂)...Angelus doesn't count IMO...he's all about the pleasure and he is violent and sadistic...
Angel and Darla were different because Angel was one step before darkness...so he wanted just sex...and losing his soul through it,plus he didn't love Darla...but the dream scene with Cordy...he is very romantic there IMO...I love the man...i mean the vampire!!!

Whenever i see Spike...on action...he is rough...well i guess that's according to people's taste,so i don't have to comment any further
 
I agree. When I see Spike, I see a rough man. Maybe he is gentle from the inside, good with words, but everytime he touched Buffy in the sexual speeking he left marks there. Angel was so gentle. He was perfect with her. Like he knew what she wants, what she needs, he just knew how to touch a girl (Like the song goes ^^).
 
exactly...i always have the feeling that Angel knows what a woman wants!and he is definitely my soul mate!hahaha!!!i plan to propose him to marry me!:lmao:

While Buffy was crying, the only thing I could think was "girl, you brought this upon yourself." 🙂 I know, I'm evil, but I think that Buffy had acted really rashly so her feeling sorry for herself was super annoying to me.

This was such a disappointing episode to me. I had expected something better. Instead, Angel's loss of soul and Buffy's reaction to it were mere anticlimatic moments, instead of something memorable.

Innocence is brilliant. My favorite episode next to Becoming Part 2. Easily. As much as I love Bangel, I love seeing Angelus and I thought this episode was great.
