EJ and I were just sitting around together laughing about stupid things we thought were true or misunderstood as children...for example...when I was little I used to wonder...when you're sick, and you take a pill, how does it know where to go? 😛 Or when we were taught in school about drinking and driving and I fliped out when my mom was taking me to school and she was drinking a soda...lol...it's a wonder how I made it at all in this world...and who hasn't been plegued with the fear that if you swallow watermellon seeds one will grow in your tummy...lmfao...

So, I want to know any of the silly things that you maybe misunderstood or just took too litterally...whatever...share with me your sweet, innocent ignorance! 😀

hmm...

a biggie...i use to think that screaming out obscenities was really cool...so one night at a family gathering i said s h i t loud...lol...that was dumb...

lol...i guess i still think using lude language is funny lol...falk...lo

I used to think that there were little ladies and men in the Radios and TV's and everytime you turned it on they start talking again!
I also thought that once you posted into the mail, they go in a tunnel and pops up in your mailbox.
what else? hmmm oh yea my sister told me if you press the "Record" button the the VCR spiders come out, she also told me that if you told Keema (our dog at the time) to lay, shed lay an egg!
ah we were so gulable at those times...

I remeber when i was little in my primary school we used to have this poster about the digestive system with little penguins jumping on all of the stuff in your tummy so i used to think that was what happened LOL that there were these little penguins in your tummy that jumped up and down on all of the food that you had just eaten. 🙂

lol i thougth if you ate the pips from any fruit you would have a tree grow in your tummy and need to go to the hospital🙂

also that father xmas was real but because we had no fire place he used fairy dust to squeze through the letter box!!

Smurfs really exist in the woods but cause they are small and know when were coming they run away🙂

and of course demaons and vampires are real just on a different plain of existance to us🙂

now the question is how many of these do you still think of when you cross these situations in life now?

and how many do you wish you still believed?

everyine used to tell me that everytime that you bang your head you lose brain cells and i thought that you only had likle 10 of them so i would always try not to bang my head LOL

I'll probably disappear from this board forever because I'm so embarrased telling this story. LoL. Prepare yourselves....

Ok, well, when I was 4-years-old I was playing around with some of my friends, who happened to be girls. And at that age I knew that males have a penis but I never heard the word for what females have, so I never knew. So, I thought "how do they go to the bathroom?" I went up to one of my friends and asked them if they pee'd out of their butts because that was the only other hole I could think of. I look back at it now and laugh... mostly at my self and that I have to kill the people who know this story...

I lived in a small town for all of 4 years as a kid. When we moved to the city, I thought for the life of me we were going to live under a very tall brick wall. See, we moved to Calgary, which historicaly used to be Fort Calgary, and I think I thought we were going to live in a fort. To me, for some reason, a fort meant 'a brick wall' They said it was big, so I pictured a very large brick wall that we were going to live under.

I used to think you got pregnant from reading pornography magazines.

When we (my brother, some friends and I) broke into our neighbours yard and started pulling his carrots out and eating them, I actually believed he would shoot us with a shotgun if he caught us.

One of my uncle's has a very imaginative sence of humour and when I was little he told me that he used to be a little girl too, so for the longest time I thought I'd grow up to be a man (and can you believe I'm telling everyone that...lol...)

The same uncle told me that he used to eat worms for his breakfast 🙂

My mother will tell you, and anyone else who cares to listen, that I actually did eat worms and slugs when I was little.

I can't remember much from when I was little (senility, too long ago etc 🙂) but I sometimes think that life should be as simple as most of us thought it was at three or four years old - complete with lies our parents told us...

When I was lil I thought that I can made my dog speak. So I was talking to him for hours without any sign of him understanding me..I also believed that in the mirror lives second me and I wanted to make friends with her..

That is great! 🙂 OHMYGOODNESS!

WARNING!-I do not mean to be gross-it is very natural but...many years ago I had learned that a woman only had so many eggs to be released throughtout her life (in regard to menstal cycles and ovulation). I thought that every time you had an orgasm one was released and so I was afraid by the time that I became old enough to be a mother I would not have any eggs left to be released!

Of course there is Santa Claus...believed in that one for a long long time!

FOI-My dad also used to always tell me if I ate watermelon seeds, a watermelon would grow in my tummy.
AND Smurfs DO exist in the woods!

LMFAO! Chas, have I mentioned lately that you're my hero? (But if I start singing Wind Beneath My Wings, please take me out back and shoot me like Old Yeller).

I had a big "paranoid consiracy theorist" phase when I was eight years old (and too young to know what a conspiracy theory was). There was this nutjob who killed a few people by putting cyanide into Tylenol capsules. It was all over TV, and my parents had a US News & World Report lying on the coffee table so I read the cover story, which was about the cynaide poisoning. I think there may have been a couple of copycat crimes too...can't remember now.
Anyway, I came down with Pneumonia and I was convinced that my mom was trying to poison me with the medicines she was trying to get me to take.

Hmmm....you know, when it was in my head that story was much funnier than how it came out.

Okay...how 'bout this one:

After I saw Superman II, I was convinced that I could make a fortune by smooshing all the stones in my backyard into diamonds (I didn't understand about it needing to be carbon). I spent all my spare time for like two weeks pressing this one little rock as hard as I could...

Were they all squishy and taste like chicken?.....lol.....😉

To this day I don't know if my uncle did actually eat the worms or not, I did watch him a few times go to put the worms in his mouth...but you know how kids are....they believe anything....lol....but knowing my uncle I wouldn't put anything past him 😀

I believed in Santa, the tooth fairy and the easter bunny for years. It wasn't till i was about 9 or 10 that i knew they didn't exist!

I used to also think that little people lived inside the radio and thats what made the music come out!

I didn't understand how telephones worked when i was little. I didn't get how you could speak to someone you couldn't see and thought they were maybe in the next room or something!

I have short term memory loss I don't remeber much below age 10. Or much since yesterday really. But I remember my Dad telling me chocolate was made out of cow stomach. I didn't eat chocolate for months, until he told me he was joking. I was like 4 or 5 at the time...I think....i can't really remember. That's really all I can remember, I'm sure there was more....

I though a brain was a big control room (à  la StarTrek) with little green people running around.

I used to think that if you throw away your food, a monster would come and punish you, lol.

When I still lived in Vietnam (I came to the US when I was 4), I lived near my grandmother's house and her house had these long flights of stairs that just seem endless. A little kid can easily slip and fall, so the adults told me when I was a little kid that an old, scary man lived up those stairs, so that I would never go up those stairs by myself and fall down and break something. I really believed it, too because it's a really old house and some of the lights don't work anymore and as you get higher up the flights of stairs, it gets dimmer... I went back to Vietnam a few summers ago and my family was telling my little cousin (who was two at the time) the story about the old man. Ghosts were added, I think.

I used to think that the waves in the microwave could hurt me if I stood to close to the microwave. Don't ask.
