So BtVS and AtS have a well known trope of tearing down a character and then having a friend give them an uplifting pep talk.
So, if you had the chance, which character would you want to give a pep talk to? At what point would you do it? And, most importanlt what would you say to them to make them feel better/special/appreciated? How do you think they would react?

This of course assumes that you know their character and they consider you a trusted friend or what have you, that your opinion would matter to them.
To keep this thread on topic try and rep (or not) somebody instead of posting a direct rebuttal refuting what they've said.
After all, every character needs a little love. 🙂

Okay, I'll start:

1) Wesley in Belonging: He's just got off the phone with his father having just had his fragile self-esteem torn to shreds in a heart-breaking conversation. 🙁 Resisting the urge to just give the guy a hug, I'd point out that it takes more guts, strength and sheer intelligence to go it alone with some friends, helping people day in, day out. Having people who know you and trust your judgement at your side, than it does to have the backing of a stuffy, inefficient, rigid, organisation at your back. I'd say that Wes has grown to become his own man, and a good one at that. 🙂
Then I'd channel Gunn, give him a fist-bump and say 'You rock English!'

2) Faith in 'Touched': Whilst Buffy gets her 9th pep talk of the season Faith is left with getting hit on by Wood. 😡 Not fair!
I'd tell Faith that she, out of everyone else there who's badly screwed up (Anya, Andrew, Willow, Spike) has earned a second chance at being a good guy, a leader. That a group of hardened monster hunters in L.A trusted her to get their boss back, which she did at great personal cost, so she should be able to handle leading a bunch of girls. I'd tell her to trust her instincts but listen to the wisdom and suggestions of others. I'd tell her I'd always have her back. 🙂
Then, well Faith being Faith, I'd probably get a reward for my kind words...😀

Willow throughout Season 1, I'd remind her that there's a world outside of high school where she will flourish.

Cordy, post her impalement, I'd try to promote her confidence again, although she did this herself.

Buffy, in season 2, Becoming part 2: I'd tell her that she's silly to think her mum meant what she said.

Definitely Wesley! Throughout everything that happens in season 3 and 4. He has been completely teared down but he is such an incredible person and he should know it!

I would take him out for a pint at the pub and just give it to him straight. He is stupidly, crazily intelligent, sure, but he is also witty and caring and unique and has this incredible knack of wanting to keep making sure that the right thing is being done. Not to mention the fact that he is likely the best looking man in the entire world.

Yes! Wesley deservedly needs a lot of love thrown his way.
