Let me start this thread off:

One sperm cell has 37.5MB of DNA information in it. That means a normal ejaculation represents a data transfer of 1587TB in about 3 seconds.

In the days of the old black & white movies, the color red would actually appear black on film. Because of that, normal stage blood couldn't be used. The substitute that worked the best was...chocolate syrup.

(Well, I thought that it was interesting, anyhow)

The microwave was invented after a researcher walked by a radar tube and a chocolate bar melted in his pocket. Eww.

Remember guys, this thread is called 'interesting facts' and not just 'facts' 🙂

Just because it not be interesting to you doesn't mean it's not interesting to someone else.

Kissing is very good for your teeth: the extra saliva released during the act helps to keep the mouth clean "“ reducing the risk of decay.

Ah but you just posted an interesting fact here, so it seems you realised that we needed to up the ante of the thread! I think that one may come in handy in the future.
If there is a pair of identical twins who get married, not only are their children cousins, but half siblings.

If identical twins marry identical twins, their children are all brothers and sisters.

Watch me genobabble. 🙂

Jeopardy?? My fav show 🙂

Did you know that "Series star Sarah Michelle Gellar initially auditioned for the role of Cordelia Chase, and Charisma Carpenter, who plays Cordelia, auditioned for the role of Buffy. Others who auditioned for Buffy and got other roles include Julie Benz (Darla), Elizabeth Anne Allen (Amy Madison), Julia Lee (Anne) and Mercedes McNab (Harmony Kendall). Bianca Lawson, who played Kendra the Vampire Slayer in season 2, originally auditioned for the role of Cordelia."

You want *interesting* facts, Chris? I'll give it a shot.

1- Each year, 13 people on average, die from vending machines falling on top of them. 🙁
2- Proportion of males who are colour blind: 7%; of women: 0.4% (What does it imply?!)
3- Dislocating your thumb is a good way to get out of handcuffs. (Neat trick.)
4- If you fart consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb. (Cool!)
5- Only one person in two billion will live to be 116 or older. (Lucky peeps...)
6- Donald Duck comics were banned in Finland because he doesn't wear pants. (ROFL!)
7- More people are killed by donkeys annually than are killed in plane crashes. (Oh my god!)
8- Cockroaches are the most well designed beings. They've been around for 350 MY and could live through a nuclear or meteor disaster. Within 1 year, 2 german cockroaches can reproduce up to 750,000 new cockroaches. (That's why they're so fugly, they couldn't have everything going for them)
9- Some lions mate over 50 times a day. (Man!)
10- Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour. (I'm gonna have to try this sometimes)

Some of these made me really think. I can't believe more Donkey's kill people than planes. Then again I am afraid of planes lol.

I'm now picturing roaches eating bratwurst and drinking beer from a boot.
(Here's another old one from the old man)

It was in Clayton Moore's (TV's Lone Ranger from the '50's) that every time that this scene:

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Td4RHvyAFsM[/ame]

was shown, for the rest of his life, anywhere in the world, he would receive a royalty of $5.00 (He actually was the rider, no stunt man substituted for him. In fact, through the entire run of the show, he never used a stunt man, preferring to do all of the jumps, falls, and riding himself)

2- Proportion of males who are colour blind: 7%; of women: 0.4% (What does it imply?!)
[smartass mode] It implies connection of the color-sight gene with the gendered X-chromosome, as XX is more likely to be able to correct a mutation on one chromosome with an unmutated/undamaged other counterpart. In the XY combo, you'd only have the damaged one X with no potentially whole other X to correct it.

To an evolutionary psychologist, it might also imply the "men as hunters, women as gatherers" hypothesis, as fruit-eaters (= gatherers) gain much more from working color-sight than carnivores (= hunters)... being able to correctly ascertain the color (and thus, ripeness) of a fruit or berry gives an evolutionary advantage to gatherers, but not to carnivores. Which is why most predatory animals are, indeed, colorblind. [/smartass mode] :einstein:

Haha, thanks IM. ;)
More people get struck dead by a drinks machine than killed by a shark.
(Steven Spielberg's movie Jaws is most likely the reason why many people are afraid of sharks.)

Ok i think i'll join the fun:

1.Humans and Dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure.
2.Polar Bears are left handed.
3.Speaking of left handed: on average, right handed people live 9 years longer than left handed people. I wonder what happens if you're ambidextrous.
4.The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It's like a human jumping the length of a football field.
5.Starfish don't have brains.

Polar bears being left-handed is an urban myth. As is them covering their noses with their paws.

Cool. I got new way to insult people. Like "You starfish!!" :p
-Cheetah's are the only cats that can not retract their claws.
-Each cocolate bar has an average of 6 insect legs in it. (Umm protein)
-12 newborns are given to the wronge parents daily. (Well that sucks)
-7% of Americans don't know the first 9 words of the American anthem, but know the first 7 of the Canadian anthem. (I know all of both 😀)
-5% of Canadians don't know the first 7 words of the Canadian anthem, but know the first 9 of the American anthem.

Elvis Presley never learned how to play the guitar. He learned 2 chords, and all of the rest was faked.

Also, he never in his life owned a pair of blue suede shoes, and, until her dying day, Elvis' mother urged him to "quit singing and get a job with a future, like a furniture salesman."

I knew that about using the guitar as a prop, which is why he was 'jealous' of Eddie Cochran.
The first recorded use of the abbreviation "OMG" was in 1917.

The French used to use a decimal system of time, but it wasn't successful, as the rest of the world had already established what we know to be the correct units of time.
