Interesting interview--Megan Fox on being a star

I came across this on the Yahoo News ticker today, and it kind of made me think. Megan Fox did an interview with Esquire magazine where she talked about how being a star, and a sex symbol, isn't what people think. I thought it was pretty interesting actually. She gets a reputation for being everything that's wrong with Hollywood, but I found she came across as pretty insightful.

I think she gets a worse reputation then she deserves. Although she looked like an alien at the Golden Globes, she's done something weird to her face.

I don't think she's everything bad about Hollywood, I think Lindsey Lohan is the walking embodiment of everything bad with Hollywood.

The only thing about Megan I dont like is the fact that for whatever reason she was not in TF3 destrying the contenuity of the story
If it was her falt fine if it was Bays falt because of something fine they should have been bigger pepole about it and worked it out that way we dint have to scramble around a new girl to make TF3 work

Those comments put her in the 'I'm a dumb bimbo' catagory as far as I'm concerned. Esquire magazine is known for publishing pictures of good looking girls in little clothing, flaunting themselves for the buyer.
Didn't she know what sort of clothing that she would be expected to wear?
About the clothing she wore in the Transformers films, when she agreed the six or seven figure salary, didn't she know what she'd be expected to wear?
Complaining about what people might think of her, after the fact. That to me seems silly.

It's not her wearing the clothes that's wrong, it's people judging her for it and calling her a bimbo.

I like this interview, it feels honest. but I don't like the parts where she disses Marilyn and Lindsey.

I'm sorry, but bitching about how wearing very little clothing "devalued" her in a magazine that has photos of her wearing barely anthing along side the interview?! Ha!

Sorry, obviously I don't know the girl, she might be really lovely. But I just don't like her and this interview kinda made that worse.

I agree that she gets a worse reputation than she deserves, but I have trouble feeling sorry for her since she seems to be the one who frequently puts herself out there to be judged harshly.

While I think she has a point about becoming a sex symbol early in her career; I can't help but wonder how genuine she is in the article. As it has been pointed out, she is saying these things while wearing lingerie in a photo shoot...I have a hard time believing she doesn't have enough common sense to see the hypocrisy in that.

I also don't think I would equate a celebrities fame with bulling. Celebrities have the ability to step out of the spotlight if they choose whereas people who are being bullied often do not. (These are the sort of alienating comments she makes that people hate on her for.)

I think everyone, in every profession, has things they don't like about their job. We just don't allow celebrities to complain because they make more money than us. I think her point, and I could be wrong of course, is that she's been typecast in a certain type of role that often doesn't allow her extend beyond being something to look at. I can see how that would be frustrating. It's easy to say things like "well she can always stop". Sure, but really, how many of us would quit a job because one or two areas about it bug us? I have a friend who's a professional athlete, and he absolutely hates dealing with the media. He thinks they twist his words and meanings and are naturally arrogant, and it frustrates him that he often has to just take it because he has to be so mindful of his image. It pisses him off, but he's not going to quit his job because of it.

The way I read it was that she has to draw a line for herself on what's not acceptable to her but necessary to continue her career, and I can see the negatives to that. I think that we tend to roll our eyes when celebrities complain about anything because there's this innate presumption that they have these amazing magical lives and shouldn't be allowed to complain about anything. That's just not realistic.

I get what you're saying.

I don't at all think that celebrities shouldn't be "allowed" to complain. Just because they have money or whatever dosen't mean their lives are perfect. But I still find the article some what hypocritical, sorry.

I don't know, it's really hard for me to judge....first of all, I'm pretty certain that I'd interview really badly...I'm not even good at, "so, what's new?" or "how are you?" and secondly, she's so pretty!
