For the holidays this year, my girlfriend was hoping to send her mom a Data CD containing a slideshow or movie file of her life this past year (her mum lives abroad and can't visit all that often). We know how to create the cd fine, but we weren't sure if her mum would be able to open it: as she lives in Scotland and we're in Canada.

I've heard of problems with playing North Amercian DVDs overseas, but does anyone know if this problem applies to CDs as well?

Thanks in advance! Any help would be much appreciated! 😀

As far as I know, CDs are compatible in any country. I've ordered CDs from Japan and have also bought other imported CDs, so I am pretty sure they will work!

Good luck.

Dvd's have different regions cd's does not. North america have region 1 while Europe have region 2. A lot of people have region free dvd-players though. Will she watch it on the computer or in a dvd-player? Because depending on what format the files are some players won't play them. Or maybe it's because I have old ones and it'll work just fine in all newer ones.

As for DVD players pretty much all of them are capable of being region free. I made all the DVD players in my house region free, looking on the internet for a code you enter by remote control.

I assume your able to do this as the manufacturers must just make the same batch of players for everywhere and then just put the code in for where they are going to.
