Interview With The Vampire

I was talking about the fact that something must happen to her when she is a vampire because she isn't in the first book.
 
I haven't even passed 200 pages yet, so I still got a lot to go.
 
I absolutely love both the movie AND the book! I think the books are superbly written, and a set of the most interesting books there are. So far, I've read Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, and Queen of the Damned... However, I am a little hesitant to read any of the remaining books i the Vmapire Chronicles, as they seem, to my sceptical teenage brain, as though they are developing more into the realms of romantic fantasy than what we've been used to from the Chronicles, so I'm going to stop reading where I am

As for the movie.. what can I say? I thought Tom Cruise shone as Lestat, despite the slightly worrying curly blonde wig. I particularly loved the hotel scene, with the girl in the coffin... There's something about that I thought was brilliant.

Speaking of brilliant... Considering how young she was at the time, she was an AMAZING little actress!

Out of the three main cast members, I thought its actually Brad Pitt who wasn't as good as I would have though : blush : He seemed a little melodramatic to me. But then, that IS just me.

Antonio Bandearas.... He was good, HOWEVER, about twenty years older than he would have been, had the movie been faithful to the book

But overall, great books, great movie, I highly reccommend it to anyone!!
 
I've not read the book. I've read about half of The Vampire Lestat, but like many other books, I never finished it.

I love vampire movies, but I found Interview With the Vampire kind of boring. Maybe I need to watch it again. Its not that I need big explosions and distractions to keep me occupied, I love character driven films, but I couldn't get into this one.

On the other hand, I did enjoy Queen of the Damned, which I know most Anne Rice fans hated.
 
I am actually now over 300pages, so I should have it done in about a week or so. I think that I am going to continue to read the books and maybe I will watch the movies
 
I think Interview With the Vampire, other than a few miscrepancies, is actually pretty faithful to the book. From what I've seen and heard about Queen of the Damned, I don't think that movie is particularly faithful to the book... It can't be, given the average length of a film, and the sheer volume of the book.
 
Beyond that, I think fans were disappointed that Queen of the Damned didn't feel as 'sophisticated' as Interview with the Vampire.
