The last thread I made didn't really go as planned and the mods had to step in and break everything up. I've learned my lesson and it won't happen again. Buffy Summers gave us permission to start a second thread, which I will do so I can get insight from the other board members.

The last thread was made for me to see what you guys think about the disrespect on the board and than for us to talk it over with the mods/admins and see what can be done about it. I won't lie. I too am guilty of disrespecting people on the board. If anyone wants to see example they should take a look at the thread before this and the matrix thread. All this drama was bound to happen and it might happen again.

Towards the end of the previous thread I was discussing with Buffy Summers how we can all get together and put an end to all the needless disrespect on the boards. I know that it's just not going to stop all together, but aren't you all sick of being talked down to for no reason? I am and that's where all of tonights drama came in; because I had been pushed over my limit.

Some of you might be close to your limit because of the disrespt you've received from other members. This thread is for you to talk about how it makes you feel and a possible solution. The mods always take suggestions into consideration as long as they are within reason.

So, people of the board, what do you think can be done to stop the needless disrespet that's been taking up home on our board?

Yea....I really hope this can be cleared up in a civilized manner. And I would like to see the opinions from other members as to if they feel the same way. Because I know I do, and I'm just hoping this doesn't get blown out of proportion.

I too make comments like that. Look at my comments to Shekinah and Cordy_Chase.

Though sometimes I think when a person says something, you automatically have to say something if you strongly disagree. I mean its just human nature. Maybe we could try to refrain from personal attacks, just tell others that you disagree and state your own opinion, but not call them pety names.

But if someone says something to you, you have a right to defend yourself. Though whether in a hurtful way to them is a topic undiscussed yet.

Yeah, we all have feelings and they get hurt when we're called names. Your seperate "personal attacks" from "disagreeing" is what we should learn to do more. The use of "you're an idiot" or "your mother beats you" shouldn't be used. Everyone does have a right to defend themselves. We have options on the board to do so, but letting tonight serve as an example, those don't work all the time. And when people refuse to talk it out in PM's, there's not really much you can do. That's where problems come in. We have to remember we're on the internet, and not in person, which thank god we are or we'd all be in the hospital LoL.

I agree everyone has the right to defend themselves but they should also bring the matter up to the mods everytime they feel like they are being threatened or attacked by another mod or member.... Thats one reason they're here is to keep us from jumping eachother like we started to do in the other thread.....I know for a fact all the members on BB have the ability to be kind and respectful to eachother i just hope we can find a way to get to that point agian

I wasn't going to post in here as I want to hear what you all have to say but I HAD to say this is really nice and so true:

It was just a really nice way to sum it up. Good job!

🙂

But, tonight for example, again, a mod wasn't around to watch us and it got out of control due to both parties. Sometimes as we wait for a mods return to the board, things build up. Maybe we should be mature enough not to start a big commotion, but as I stated before, everyone has their limit.

Well personally I would just like to see a little understanding on the board. It seems like everyone expects everything to be just the way they want it every moment instead of understanding that there are other people on the other end of the tridub.

But again, if people don't retaliate then things can be dealt with when a mod comes on since they don't escalate into towering infernos.

Oh yay me i said something right anyways *Cough cough* yes we should be mature about things alot of us are old enough to be mature but i agree we all have limits i know that one for a fact i've got a badddd temper which i haven't really shown on BB (Yet) but i believe the mods understand that and can respect that you tried but maybe if you know ur about to loose your temper maybe you should just like concentrate on other things on other posts?

I've noticed that too. I, again taking responsibility, have been a little big hypocritical when I tell someone to be nice and than explode on someone at the same time. Usually the threads about religion and stuff tend to be a little heated because people don't understand where the person is coming from and why they believe that. Open mindedness would help out a lot. that a long with the disagree, but don't insult, issue would do a lot of good.

Aw. I know you did. ::hugs:: but, im talking about the mod that can moderate that forum. Like, as if that conversation was in the angel section than no one could have done anything except Faith, Buffy Summers or Cordelia (she runs that forum, i think). Or i think that's how it goes. You can only moderate your forum, right?

Jules, Jacklyn, nerd4hire, Mr. Pointy and Xander Harris can all mod the entire board (as can Faith and I). 🙂 They are listed on the forum leaders page as "Super Moderators"

Thanks guys!
😀

Yes I see what you mean now. Normally it isn't a problem but when things go so crazily out of control like that so quickly...well let's just say I was quite frustrated. 😉

And that's why I calmed myself, because I knew I'd be getting you and the other mods frustrated.

such complete and utter b.s.
Ok well I think that people just need to refrain from saying hurtful things, if you disagree then you disagree theres no need to blow it out of proportion, and if you feel the need to blow it out of proportion take it off the board. It seems like lately alot of people are blowing things up on the board and the mods have to come break it up, then that person who blew it up decides to leave the board. I mean is it worth it to go through all of that and then leave as the result, I don't think so.

And i've noticed lately, not sure if its just me or not, that people seem to be ganging up on the mods. Seems like people are saying that the mods are a seperate group from the board and they all stick together and mods this and mods that, I personally feel that people need to have more respect for the mods. They take time out of their board time so that they can go through and clean out all the spam and crap that people are putting on the board and go though all of the threads to make sure everything is ok with them. All mods get a standing ovation from me, I think they are doing a great job with having to put up with all of the disrespect that they are getting.

Ok i'm done ranting.

Personally I sometimes have to look twice at a post before I believe what was written. I certainly support any ideas I post, however I am also open to others opinions. Therefore I do not believe that I have ever insulted someone on the board (if I did it was unintentional). Personally it comes down to an issue of respect, I will not insult someone if it isn't to their face. I can't do that online so I don't do it at all.

I mentioned in another thread that many people feel they can do and say whatever they want to on their computer with no repercussions. Unfortunately many of these people would not do, or think the same if they were standing immediately in front of the person.

Truthfully it is not very difficult to say, "I disagree," as opposed to, "You are an idiot, your opinion is wrong." The difference between those 2 comments is being polite and being rude. It really isn't hard to be polite.

There is my rant on the subject.

Well we all know that things definitely got out of control last night (sorry mods 😉 )
I for one am sorry about the things I said. At the time, everything was making me so frusterated and angry that I just completely snapped. Sorry 'bout that 🙂
I'm glad to see that at least now things have calmed down very much.

I agree that hurtful things should not be said because eventually the board would become an all out fight.

But I'm not saying I regret some of things I said. This person was extremely crude and after reading their goodbye post, I'm kinda glad I did. There were so many insults in this post, too many to count.

But lets move forward and continue our Buffy/Angel/Tru Calling/Something rather debates...............................................................

Or about Smurfs. I love smurfs.
