Into Every generation a slayer is born...

.For more questions, please feel free to ask.I will answer them all.

Sounds good. I have a few.

When exactly does Giles say there are other girls in Sunnydale? You're talking about Chosen right?

Let me see if I understand correctly how you know half the girls went on the bus and half stayed. You counted the girls in the room when Buffy made her speech, right? How many were there? How many girls got off the bus? Are you positive none could be out of view?

Some of the slayers were injured in End of Days, correct? How do we know Buffy left them in Sunnydale? Couldn't she just as easily have sent them out of town. Wouldn't she have needed someone to take them? Therefore even if there are fewer girls getting off the bus than were in the room aren't there other possible explanations for their absence than "they refused Buffy's offer"?

Is there a full view shot of all the slayers in the bus after the battle? Because if there isn't how can we assume we know what was happening out of shot? Doesn't adding up little bits and pieces rely on assumptions?

Can you explain to me exactly how you believe you know Chao Ahn died? I have to confess I still don't get it.

You, me, TVTome, and IMDB.com all agree Shannon was in Chosen, correct?

You, me, TVTome, and IMDB.com all agree Caridad was not in Chosen, correct? So, would it be safe to say we don't really know what happened Caridad?

The way it stands right now I'd have to say Shannon seems to have lived. Chao-Ahn and Caridad may or may not have lived. It's inconclusive. This means we could think of them as "possible" slayers until we're proven wrong, and add them to our list of favourite slayers, correct?

A couple final questions. The actress who played Caridad is filipino. You tell me this proves the character she played is also filipino. Does this mean Dania Ramirez can only play filipino parts? Do you think Dania would agree with that assessment?

Aren't you just assuming the casting director went looking for a filipino actress to play a filipino part? Isn't it just as likely they were casting for the parts of slayers from different parts of the world, saw a pretty, dark skinned girl with an exotic accent, and said "She'll do?"

Is Caridad a name exclusive to filipinos. I'm going to make an assumption here myself, and assume it is not.

My favourite Slayer is Buffy - she always did what was right...

I liked Faith, I just didnt like her as a Slayer, and Kendra was too much of a Slayer, if that makes sense...

I liked Amanda out of all the Potentials...but I didnt really like her for her Slayerness, I just liked the person she was...

My favourite Potential for Slayerness was Chloe...she looked like she was built to be a Slayer, even though we never got to see her fight...

I was watching Buffy the other night, on my tape. And I found out that there was actually 8 slayers that survived. The pics from buffyworld.com, didn't have every pic.Of course Caridad is a filipino name.I'm filipino, canadian, nd half spanish.Since Caridad wasn't in chosen, it must mean she refused to go into battle against the ubervamps.

Or she was too wounded to fight in the final battle from the bomb that went off in End of Days.

Rite..In end of days, after the bomb, she looked alright to me.It's just that this character was only in a few episodes. They thought the fans wouldn't notice, that she was gone. That's why they didn't show every1 fighting in the war.

8 sounds about right going by impressions, but unless you can point me to a scene where 8 and only 8 appear in a single shot on the bus leaving the battle, with no possibility of others appearing behind the camera, I have to say it's not canon. Does it really matter though?

As far as Caridad being an exclusively Filipino name either by origin, or usage I tend to want to disagree.

As I understand it Caridad is Spanish for Charity.

If you check out the Caridad Search Page at IMDB.com I think you'll find most of the people there seem to have Latin American connections.

Here's an example:

Caridad Bravo Adams

Date of birth (location)
14 January 1904
Villa Hermosa, Tabasco, Mexico

http://imdb.com/name/nm0106039/

I'd also like point out when I first saw Caridad on Buffy, my impression was she was Latin American (Yes, I do know Dania Ramirez is from the Phillipines). I have yet to be convinced the people making that episode meant for me to think otherwise. If they want to tell us Caridad was Filipino, Seychellian, or Swedish immigrant though, I'll believe them. As of yet they don't, so I feel free to accept whatever feels right for me. I just won't tell anyone else my belief is the only one that can be considered correct. If anyone wants to believe Caridad is Filipino I'm going to say good on them. They should enjoy themselves, but if they're going to tell me I have to believe there is only the one possibility, I'm going to say, prove it. I've yet to see such proof.

Caridad's nationality also doesn't really matter of course, but she is one of my favourite slayers, so I have to tell you nothing I've heard so far has changed my original impression of her. In my personal Buffy view Caridad is Latin American, but Joss can tell me at anytime she's something else, and I won't hate him for it.

I also am not prepared to believe as yet, there is any evidence saying Caridad refused Buffy's offer. We don't know where she was in Chosen. As I said earlier, for all we know she was taking injured slayers to the hospital in LA under Buffy's orders, or maybe she was in the final battle and died off camera, or maybe she just slept in - who knows?

I know we only saw, like, two shots of her, but I really liked the potential in "Chosen" who was playing baseball in the "so here's where you make a choice" montage. She just seemd so comfident in herself at the end, and my heart just went out to her.

I didn't really like Faith in Buffy originally, but I really warmed up to her after she went to jail ("Judgement" and afterwards). Buffy just seemed a little too whiney at the beginning and a little too self-righteous at the end, but that's just me.

Okay why would the SITs be in the hospital? The whole town went all crazy, and left.If you know the history of the philipines.then youd know the answer. The second language in the Philippines is spanish. Our names are spanish, like mine. There was a time when spain ruled us, thats why we're a mix of spansih, nd flip.My name is spanish.

I'm sure Buffy didn't let any of the potentials who didn't want to go into battle stay in Sunnydale. If there were some that weren't in the final battle, they most likely evacuated with the rest of the town's population.

Not counting Buffy, Faith, and Kendra, my favorite slayers were

1. Amanda
2. Rona
3. Chao-Ahn
4. Dana

Yeah, Fat Elvis - Dana! I wanna pick Dana too. She was wild. I have a fantasy of a Dana-Faith spinoff.

But now I wanna talk to XxSlayerxX some more.

Why would the Sits be in the Hospital? Who said they would be? It's an assumption of a possibility. I'm assuming there are other possibilities to explain where Caridad might have been during the time of Chosen, other than assuming she died.

Let's see if I understand your point correctly. You counted slayers at the school didn't find Caridad to count, and assumed she was dead. First of all it's understandable you couldn't find her to count. She wasn't in Chosen.

Yes Caridad could be dead. She could have refused Buffy's offer and left town. She could have hitched a ride out of town with Clem in his punch buggy. Perhaps he returned to town, because he'd forgotten his cheese puffs. She could even have been sent by Buffy to take the injured Slayers to the hospital in LA, or maybe even Oxnard where Xander was taking Dawn (although why they would do that I have no idea).

You get my point though right? When multiple possiblities exist you can't just pick one and assume it to be fact. It isn't rational. It's one thing to assume something is possible. It's another thing to assume something is fact. Facts require support. The only thing we know for sure about Caridad after End of Days is we don't know anything about what might have happened to her.

Now as far as Spanish being a language they speak in the Phillipines goes; yes I'm aware of that. You know where else they speak Spanish? Spain. Also Mexico, parts of LA, and I think Magui will support me on this one - Argentina. Caridad could just as easily have come from any of those places.

Dania Ramirez comes from the Phillipines. It is never stated where Caridad comes from. Assuming Caridad is Filipino, because the actress who plays her is, just isn't good enough.

Look...I'll try explaining the problem with assumptions, with an analogy. Maybe this will help.

The other day I was browsing the rag mags at the checkout counter. I saw this one with a big picture of a cellulite ridden butt in a bikini. Next to that picture was a picture of Britney Spears with a caption, "Britney Spears Has Cellulite".

The mere fact that a photo of a cellulite-butt exists doesn't prove the butt in the picture belongs to Britney Spears. It's even possible the photo was a pic of Britney's butt, but the butt photo had been tampered with.

Having said that I'll tell you it wouldn't surprise me if Britney's butt was the one in picture, but the picture itself isn't conclusive proof Britney has wrinkle-butt.

Here's another explaination for what happened to Caridad: Joss didn't consider her a really important character, so decided to save more screen time for the major characters and those potentials who had larger roles (like Molly and Kennedy), and a bunch of stunt people to make the fight scenes exciting.

You guys could also try writing fics that follow Caridad after "Chosen" and came up with any explaination you want. N4H is right--there is no hard-and-fast true answer to what happened. Maybe she'll have a cameo in one of the movies (if they ever get made...)

thanks for putting an end to this " where did she go " thing. Its been getting me annoyed, trying to explain.I have another potential thread that im gonna make.maybe this one will make a large chat, too.

So, nopw that that's cleared up (here's hoping):

What do you guys think the Slayer ability really is? I can come up with a few ideas...

1. Blood: Slayer blood is the only cure for the mayor's vampire poison and aparently an aphrodesiac

2. Demon Posession: at least thats what it seemed they were getting at in "Get it Done"

3. Reincarnation: I think this follows more along the story of the movie than the show, though.

huh?i dun really get what you mean.can u explain it more?

Well, I was justr thinking...a slayer is definitely not like other girls. There's someting about her that makes her special, and I was just trying to figure out what it might be. Is she born a slayer/potential, or is she chosen after the fact?

I hope that made more sense, I'm kinda overtired and babbling right now...

I'm going to rate my favourite slayers in order, just for fun.

1. Fray
2. Buffy
3. Vi
4. Faith
5. Kendra
6. Chao Ann
7. Caridad (She lived to be a slayer, right?)

Kennedy didn't make my list.

Very good choices, my friend, very good. Mine are the same people, but just in a different order. Mine are:

1. Vi
2. Caridad
3. Faith
4. Buffy
5. Fray
6. Kendra
7. Chao Ann

Concerning the whole Chao Ann/Caridad thing, unless I see official 100% proof that both of them died, then I'm not gunna believe anything. As others have stated, Caridad/Dania Ramirez was not in Chosen. It's possible she left town or whatever. You can't say you know for sure she died when she wasn't even in the episode!!!
