Lyrics by Thirteen Senses 'Into the Fire'
Prue was in LA, of all the places to be, she shook her head and blinked back tears. She'd left her sisters a short note in her flowing hand telling them the magazine had sent her to do a shoot. Her thin fingers worried the strap of her bag, something just didn't feel right in her, she was really adrift this time. Life had lost its colour, drained of butterfly beauty to flutter moth-like in darkness, attracted to fateful lights. A tiny sob escaped her and quickly she pressed her bony fingers over her mouth, as though stifling the sound could stifle the emotion also.
She walked the streets not sure what she was planning to do, she had realised, if she didn't get out of the smile-filled Manor she would scream and never be able to stop. Everything was bright and gaudy, why LA? It was just foul, everything was either torn and seedy or too new and hopeful. Just like the people, the women with their pink painted lips dragged into a smile, didn't they know that life would just disintegrate in such a superficial atmosphere?
From the summer to the spring
From the mountain to the air
From Samaritan to sin
And it's waiting on the end
She continued to walk, she didn't feel tired and it was as though if the night extended forever, she could walk forever. Mindless pacing, searching for a flicker of something, anything in people's faces.
Power crackled in her veins but her angry impetus had dissipated, so instead of acting as a release it gnawed at her, an animal slathering and smiling cruelly. She felt a second humming in her blood, lower pitched, more primal. She looked up to see that a man was staring at her, that in itself was not unusual, but the man was. She snapped her head away from him as though she had been struck, his intensity frightened her.
Come on, come on
Put your hands into the fire
Explain, explain
As I turn and meet the power
This time, this time
Of their own accord her feet picked their way towards him, around the rubbish in the filthy street. There was a raw strength in him, she just wanted him to crush her in his arms until she couldn't breathe. He was so calm but his eyes raged like a storm on an open moor. His features were strong and perfect, he towered over her.
Turning white and senses dire
Pull up, pull up
From one extreme to another
He pulled her towards him, touching her face, he stroked his hands over her throat possessively. She was feeling dizzy, she didn't know if it was his body pressed against hers, the thrill of freedom or his fingers which were tightening around her throat.
Finally they clashed, her dry lips were strangely soft in their parched state, his melted and pulsed under hers. Somehow it had gone too far, she felt like a small child who had thrown themselves too enthusiastically into a handstand only to realise they were falling.
Come on, come on
Put your hands into the fire
Explain, explain
As I turn and meet the power
This time, this time
Turning white and sense dire
Pull up, pull up
From one extreme to another
She twisted her fingers in his short hair and yanked it backwards, he didn't seem to need to breathe but she did. His face was horrifically twisted, ridges that melted under her inquisitive touch, eyes tarnishing from gold to brown.
"Vampire." She whispered.
"Witch." He replied.
From Samaritan to sin
And it's waiting on the end
He lifted her diminutive body from the ground as they kissed once more, her nails bit into his shoulders procrastinating with his flesh. She flicked her tongue over his pointed teeth with a smile, this was reckless oblivion, this was why she was in LA. He pulled her into an alleyway, smashing her into a wall. He shed her jacket for her like the skin of a former life, her shoulder blades grazed roughly against the wall as he pinned her there. She pushed his head to her shoulder and his teeth tore her skin, he smeared her blood with his thumb as it rolled down her arm.
He grabbed her hand and ran, pulling her with him, her arm nearly wrenched from its socket. There was no middle ground, no waiting. Once inside he pulled her to him, she was elastic in his arms. She was lost, her blue eyes glowed with alluring incandescence as their rhythmic union reached its peak.
And now I'm alone I'm looking out, I'm looking in
Way down, the lights are dimmer
Now I'm alone I'm looking out , I'm looking in
Way down, the lights are dimmer
The whole situation was strange but she was gasping, dying, losing her energy to pleasurable shivering. She slipped into blackness as he siphoned her blood, his hand smoothing her skin, melting her tears. Her final escape so painfully human it overwhelmed both of them.
Angel woke to a woman in his arms, she was like an alabaster statue, beautiful and deathly cold. He saw the puncture wounds red, livid against her pale skin. Her power, her beauty, her desire for him to destroy her and take her from a weary guilt ridden world - she had just been too much for him.
She lolled lifelessly as he kissed her wintry lips. Slowly as though she were a doll, he dressed her in her dignity. Both their bodies were littered with marks, a testament to how they had attempted to tear apart the bodies that enmeshed their souls. He stroked her stomach, so cold, she was gone - her face seemed luminous lit by some inner light.
He'd never seen a corpse so beautiful, he could hardly leave. He saw purely the woman and had no comprehension of what it would mean for good and evil. He had given her something that belonged solely to her, her death was not the possession of her sisters, of an innocent or of witchcraft. It was her own, she hadn't looked for it yet it had been searching for her.
Come on, come on
Put your hands into the fire
Come on, come on
He stared longingly at her and attempted to conjure some feeling of remorse, but somehow his action seemed to be a moment when two worlds crossed over, and in that pocket of double-ness all rules dissolved. She seemed made for this moment. All her imperfections were woven together and placed like a veil over all who saw her "“ blurring her, perfecting her. In death he loved her and she blessed him. He touched her face, tracing her high regal check bones and then left.
The body of Prudence Halliwell was discovered in an apartment in Los Angeles, her body shown signs of being beaten and sexually assaulted. She died of immense blood loss. At the moment the police have no suspects.
