What music intro/theme, or whatever you want to call it, you know the music at the start of a television programme, do you think is best?? And WHY?? And apart from Buffy etc, what other TV intros do you like??

I'd have to vote Angel, 'cause I like violins and stuff, the music from Angel just seems more SOFISTICATED. But I do like Nerf Herder, I've got some albums.

Of the three in the poll I love them all in different ways but right this second my vote goes to Firefly.

Then it comes to shows in general one of my favourites is always Freaks and Geeks Yes, people it´s right. I´m never gonna stop nagging about it. Watch it!!! And well, this tune hasn´t disappeared from my mind yet. Knight rider 😀

As far as Whedon shows go, I'm torn between Firefly and Angel. Hmm...I think my vote goes to Firefly. The theme song just fits the show so well (I guess it should, 'cause Joss wrote it, but you know what I mean!) and I love the way the intro looks.

Now, other shows...I kind of like what Heroes does. They don't really have an intro. They just have their trademark eclipse come onscreen with some cool Indian music playing in the background. If that doesn't count, the Arrested Development intro. It just looks really good and I love Tobias' outfit in it.

The Carnivale theme song was ace. The violins and the choir.. very atmospheric.
If anyone is interested I found linkage
Carnivale Theme

I voted Angel but it was a hard choice between that and Firefly. I love that song so much.

I voted for Buffy, I love the AtS one too but its gotta be Buffy (I've never seen Firefly)

As far as other shows... is it just me or does anyone else really miss the days when shows all had opening credits with theme songs? Now-a-days pretty much no shows do an opening sequence which gets a big boo from me. So I have to give credit to Bones for being the only show I can think of right now that does have one and a great one at that. Oh and Dexter's opening sequence is BRILLIANT!

TK is so beyond right about Freaks and Geeks, the opening is classic. Also the opening sequences for Popular, Roswell, Ally McBeal, Dawson's Creek, Felicity, My So-Called Life, The O.C. and Beverly Hills 90210 🙂

"I've been dowwwwn, this roaaad, walking the line, that's painted by pride..." "That's an AWFUL theme song!" LOVE Ally McBeal!

Ally McBeal.. my God! I'd forgotten how good that show is!
I like the start from Friends.
It's always funny, and just cheers you up. It's really great.

Actually, not really.

I love the Lost intro (even though I am not a fan of the show) simply because, bar a 10 second bit, it goes straight into the 'action'(again not Lost. Action is the wrong term for that show). I mean an intro is good once, maybe twice BUT when you are watching DVD's it gets irksome.

I like the start from Friends.

I can't believe I forgot Friends.

I love the song and the intro - you are quite right, it is very uplifting.

If I like credits I always watch them, even if I'm having a marathon of the show.
My favorite intro is from SCRUBS coz it lasts like 5 seconds. Thats the way every show should be

I voted Angel of the three options.

Overall i love opening theme of House, Airwolf and Magnum P.I. I bet i am forgetting many altough 😛

I voted Angel, but it was pretty much entirely for the music. The visuals kinda suck. Buffy would have gotten my vote if they had kept the "AAAAAAAA" from Season 1 all the way through. I miss that.

About intros in general, I tend to like them. It gives you a chance to properly remember what happened last ep after the "Previously" or the teaser, without making you feel like an idiot. Plus, a lot have great music. Honourable mentions go to Tru Calling, Ally McBeal, Cold Feet, and Skins series 1.

However this sentiment only extends so far as to assume that there is a scene break directly after the credits on DVD. Cause without that, they drive me mad.

I took Intro to mean opening credits.

IF we mean the teaser before credits too including (when required) the 'previously on...' then I like that.

Actually, I like the fact that there is a teaser and break - it works well on shows like Doctor Who.

But yeah, we need all shows to have a scene break directly after credits for 'skip' ability

Well, yeah, the intro is just the opening credits, but I like that it breaks up the "Previously on" and the Teaser from the main show. Without the opening credits (like on, say, Heroes) you get straight to the action, but at the cost of being able to get your bearings if it's been a week (or more) since you last watched.

What I loved about Friends on VIDEO was that for a few of the seasons they only had the opening credits on the first episode on the tape.

I just get bored with them because they are the same every week.

If this is about all the Whedonverse ones (as the subforum suggests), I would also consider the HIMYM intro. It's so addictive. Though I'm still a Buffyverse kitten, so Buffy/Angel tunes are my favourites.
