So I tried to restore my iPod to factory settings, and I ran the updater etc and everything was fine and dandy. But now it is showing an icon on the screen of the one end of the cable that you use to connect the ipod to your computer (the end that goes into the iPod, not the USB end). I can't find anywhere what this means - anyone know?

🙂

Can you post a pic of it? I don't know anything about i-pods but I know a stepson who does 🙂

What kind of iPod did you end up getting? 'Cause they have different cables and symbols etc. Mine is a firewire cable (on both ends) "“ yours probably isn't, maybe not in either end, but yeah, which symbol would that be?

Well here's the thing. I found at work a 40GB old school non click wheel one. And I called up Apple to see if they could trace it's owner, and it was never registered. So I ask the girl if I can use it and she said yes.

So I plugged it into my computer (with my nano's connecter) and I had to update the software yadda yadda and I did a restore of the factory settings because the original owner must have had a Mac. So it was successful and told me that I would have to plug it into the ac adapter for it to finish the restore.

So I bought the USB AC Adapter but when I plug it in that icon of the large end of the dock connecter comes up on the screen and then it turns off again. But all the things I read on the net about ipods and icons is that there is an icon of a plug that happens when you need to plug it into the wall socket. I can't find anything about this particular icon anywhere. 🙁
