Iron Man?

Anybody see it during the past week? I had the opportunity to be the guy who got to go to the Leicester Square premiere in London last Friday (I work freelance for one of the Londn free papers) and I had to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Awesome movie, probably the best origin story done since the first Spider Man movie. What are your thoughts?
 
I went in not knowing much about Iron Man, was never a super hero i grew up with. But i came out loving it! Robert Downey Jr is fantastic anyway. i love Tony Stark, so full of himself and yet oddly likeable lol. It was so much fun! And i actually am looking forward to the sequel.

Robert Downey Jnr. as Tony Stark was perfect, no-one else would have played Stark better IMO
Robery Downey Jnr. is signed to do two more films, and also expect a cameo from him as Stark in the upcoming Incredible Hulk movie (which will hopefully help to erase the existing turgid crappy one, it should do, Ed Norton as Bruce Banner! 😀)

Let's just hope Downey can stay off of the drugs and booze this time. From what I hear, Iron Man just may be his last chance.
I liked Iron Man. I agree that it was possibly the best comic book movie so far. And since it seems Joss is off the Wonder Woman project, it's probably the best there will be, too.
 
What about the original batman movie? (well, not THE original with Adam West, im talking the one with Keaton). That might be my fav comic book movie and the only one that makes me tear up a bit (that ending when he's on the roof...eep! gets me everytime. but im a HUGE batman fan).

NOT a fan of the hulk, didnt bother to see the first movie...the hulk always bored me. i love ed norton though...eh...maybe my boyfriend can convince me. and if RD Jr is doing a cameo, sure lol.

Batman is awesome. I liked Batman Begins best, though. Minus the parts with Katie Holmes. I hate her.
Iron Man was fantastic! I plan to see it again some time, since I left during the credits and missed the secret ending. Definitely the best recent superhero movie (and by "recent," I mean within the last decade or so.)
 
i have not seen it, but i guy i work with did and he said that i have to see it in the theatre. he gave it 10/10.

i am going to see it this sunday. i cant wait!
 
I think the official BB verdict is in as a big gaping 'awesome!' then? And white avenger, RD Jnr. has been clean for quite a while now. His comeback was an awesome film called Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, a movie made from an Elmore Leonard pulp fiction novel and also an awesome movie. If you watch it, you can see why they picked him to play Stark.

I'm not trying to condemn the guy, I honestly like him as an actor. I really do hope that he can stay straight. I still stand by what I said, though. Unfortunately, Mr Downey has used up about all of the strikes anyone is willing to allow him. It's like the old saying, "One 'Aw sh*t' can cancel out a hundred 'Attaboys'." And I look forward to seeing "Iron Man." From what I hear both here and elsewhere, it's a very good movie.

No worries dude, I just thought I'd mention it. And btw, those who did see the movie stayed 'till after the credits right? If you didn't, you missed something AWESOME. And I mean AWESOME.

I haven't seen the film yet, they've only recently had the previews on the TV. I do like the previews though, but that's mainly because of the music used. Iron Man by Black Sabbath.

There was stuff after the credits? *sigh* I've gone to see it twice already but I didn't wait either time. After I left a movie another time, one of the people who worked there said you should always wait until the lights come up, just in case theres more. So I did and the lights came up both times during the credits so I assumed it was finished.

Guess I'm headed off to YouTube...
 
Yeah, the post-credits scene was fun. I'm so glad Marvel has its own studio now. Hopefully this film's greatness wasn't a fluke. Looking forward to IM2, Thor, Captain America, The Avengers.
 
As a former comic book geek, I've been waiting years for a live action "Iron Man", so the first chance I get, I'll be seeing it. It's heartening to see all the enthusiastic kudos this movie has been getting thus far.

A question...is Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" featured in the movie itself, or did they just do that for the trailers? (huge Ozzy Osbourne fan here 😛)

If I recall correctly...they either used the original Sabbath "Iron Man" without the vocals, or it was just a really good instrumental cover. But it's in there, yup.
 
I saw it. I liked it. I'd never heard of Ironman prior to this movie, so it was all new to me. I thought Stark was an interesting character. He reminded me of Jeff Goldbloom's character from Jurassic Park, only super-hero-ized. I also liked the contemporized origin story. I tend to get motion sick in movies that use a lot of jarring camera work or flashing lights, (like, say, any of the "Bourne" movies) so I also appreciated the fact that this movie didn't go overboard[/i[ with the special effects and weird camera work. For a super-hero movie, it took a really minimalist approach, using only what was necessary to tell the story and not trying to provide a false sense of excitement via tricky cinematography. I wouldn't call it great cinema, but it was definitely a fun flick and worth the admission price.

And yes... I remained for the scene at the end of the credits. It was fun. 🙂
 
According to my metal-geek hubby, Black Sabbath doesn't let people use "Iron Man" whenever possible because it still has Ozzy's name on it and they're still mad at him.

I'M grouchy because they used Curve's "Hell Above Water" in the preview but not in the movie. I love that song. Snarl. Snark.
 
According to Numbers.com, attendance the second week has been rather disappointing, having been kicked out of the top slot by "Speed Racer," of all things. I still hope to see it soon.
 
Early weekend estimates,in terms of money earned:

1. Iron Man....$50.5 million
2. Speed Racer...$20.2 million
3. What Happens In Vegas....$20 million
