Yes. I would say he is most definitely gay.

Warren/The First: You know the rules. I can't take corporeal form. Here feel.
Andrew: Cool.
Warren/The First: Pretty bitchin', right? I'm like Obi-Wan!
Andrew: Or Patrick Swayze!

That's gay.

as well as ignoring Willow and Kennedy Kissing on the couch
Just saying, that's blatant enough a hint in itself... isn't it the "Playboy test for straightness" to check if a guy will be turned on by two gals making out?

(OTOH, I pass that test with flying colors and certainly don't identify myself as straight... mh, there goes my argument out of the finely carpenterred window. 😀)

Well anyway, I'm pretty sure Andrew isn't exclusively straight - not sure if he's into girls at all, but he pretty obviously likes guys not just for geeking around with them. 😉

Even better than charmedones193's scene is this one from ATS season 5 "Damage" where Andrew sees Spike for the first time post-Chosen:

ANDREW
(stands)
Spike?
(runs toward Spike, touching his shoulders)
It's you. It's really you!
(hugs Spike, sobbing)
My therapist thought I was holding onto false hope, but... I knew you'd come back.
(sniffles, releases Spike from the hug to look him in the eyes)
You're like... you're like Gandalf the White, resurrected from the pit of the Balrog,
(touches his palms to Spike's face)
more beautiful than ever.
(hugs Spike tightly around the neck)
Ohh... he's alive, Frodo.
(sobbing)
He's alive.

Oh yeah, definitely gay. 🙂 I've been thinking lately how annoyed I am at Joss' treatment of gay men. Gay people in general, actually. In all of his works so far, Willow & Tara are the only openly gay people, and the only gay relationship we see. I was disappointed at how the Firefly storylines both of Inara having a female client & her attraction to Saffron were treated like Playboy-fodder. I mean, my god, it's the future, aren't we more evolved than that?! I'm in the middle of Dollhouse season 2, and other than a passing reference to a female engagement of Echo's, there are no openly gay characters/relationships. Maybe it's because I expect more of Joss, because the Tara/Willow relationship was ground-breaking on TV. But yeah, here we have a super-long season 8 with Andrew playing a big role, but he never comes out of the closet. Annoying.

The question is, does any guy who's a little girly, looks up to another guy and geeky looking, have to be gay? Just because he's all that, doesn't mean he's gay. We just assume because of behavior, but gays come in many different forms. Some you can even tell they are gay.

That said, I voted yes, because all of the things I said above! HAHA!

I'm not sure if Joss has decided.

I think that he was suppose to be gay during season 6 and 7, but then I wonder if the writers decided it be more fun to make him ...uncertain.

When having Andrew take out those girls in The Girl In Question, I think the writers simply decided "Who cares, it's too much fun to leave it up for the viewers to guess".

So now, I think it could go either way. I doubt we'll ever find out for sure, but if Joss wants him to date a girl, he will. Or a boy. He might not have decided. Hell, if you ask different writers who wrote for Andrew, they might have different ideas of it. Or, maybe it's decided, and they're just playing with us.

I would guess he's gay, but he simply doesn't realize it. He might not even be interested in sex at all. Thinking he wants girls, almost raping Katrina, dating those girls; I bet he was just doing what he thought he ought to. But I bet, that unless Joss wants to suprise us, it will be confirmed he's gay (unless they'll let the jokes go on forever, leaving us clueless).

Yes, this is the point I was trying (badly!) to make. It never seemed all that consistent, so I think the writers never really felt the need to decide.
Yes, he is. There's many scenes you can tell he's attracted to guys. I used to have a crush on him in earlier S6 episodes, though. 🙂

The moment I thought he was gay was when they saw Anya and Spike going wild and he said something like "He's amazing...I mean, the girl is good too". Yup, gotcha Andrew :tongue3:

Either that or he is asexual, like Sheldon Cooper.

"He is so cool! I mean, the girl is cool too" Maybe it says the opposite
I thought he was bisexual. I think in season 8 he is more into women than when on the show? Someone correct me on this.

Good point... I did see some scenes in the webcomic that had me going "Huh? I thought he was gay!" LOL

Yeah, I figured that because the actor's mannerisms/voice (stereotypical, I know) were no longer involved, they can make him do exactly what they want. Maybe they figured Tom came out, and now that he's no longer acting the part, they won't associate him with the character anymore in the comics? So then they can make him focus on girls and it "work", but still have some ambiguity.

I suspected it and then that bit in storyteller in season 7 was the confirmer. The bit where Willow and Kennedy are making out on the couch and Andrew goes: wow, just look at xander's craftmanship on those window frames! or something like that. 🙂

As irritating as Kennedy was, she was still smokin' hot. And of course Willow is the hottest woman in the history of mankind. No heterosexual man would say "look at Xander's craftsmanship" and that precise moment. Not one. 😉
