Is BB Your Favorite Website/What Does BB Mean To You?

So, basically, is BB your favorite website out there? Why or why not? And, on extension, what does BB mean to you? (I'm thinking that the last one will receive very interesting responses...)

As for me...

Well, as many of you know, I talk about my "mother" forum a lot. The first forum I've ever went to and fell in love with. Kinda like Bangel, actually. 😉 Because it was my first, I'll always love it, and I still lurk on it even though I don't post as much. (sw) Why do I love this site? It's huge, it has over 21,000 members, and it's growing every day. It's extremely organized and well-structured, and everyone there is ridiculously nice, polite, genius, funny, and just all 'round amazing. 🙂 I have met some of the most brilliant people there, although I must admit, I've never made any actual friends there... As an extension, it also has a Sister-Site, a fanfiction archive with strong rules and regulations with over 60,000 of the best fanfics you'll ever read. People there have even been in the newspaper for writing fanfiction that's better than the actual books that they're based on!

Of course, after all that, I still have to say this... I love BB way more. 😀 Why? Because there's a wide variety of people, but not so many that it's difficult to make friends and get to know people. It may not have the toughest rules I've ever seen, but that means that we can be more casual here. We're more close-knit, and we're more accepting. Everybody here is 100% unique. And more than that, we're not just a website here at BB. We're a community. We're family.

Which is why, no matter what, BB will always be the best website out there for me. Because we're more than just a website. 🙂 (Is it just me, or does anybody else think that I sound like a commercial? :tongue3: )

Plus, since my "mother site" is so into rules and respecting everyone, I've honestly never gotten into a debate there. We all come in, politely state our opinions, then leave. And if we do have a debate, then it's so darn polite, you can't even really call it a "debate". :tongue3: And, I mean really, debates are my favorite things here! Why? Because I think that when you're honestly debating with someone you're getting to know them and really seeing them and their thoughts more prominently and more genuinely then in any other time. 🙂 When you're just posting your individual opinion and leaving, it's usually void of all emotion, more or less completely detached from the person. But when you're in a debate... (I wish that I could marry debates... (sw) )

As for what BB means to me... Well, a better question would be 'What DOESN'T BB mean to me?' :biggrin3: BB is everything. I go on here every day, and I stay for, at the very least, four hours per day. It's just as essential in my life as going to school, or even breathing. 😀 You guys, psycho as you are 😉, are all beyond amazing, and I love you all very much. :smile3: BB is more than just a website that I'm completely obsessed with at this point: It's a part of my life. 🙂

In all seriousness, this is my favourite website. The layout, the organisation, the atmosphere & the sheer scope of stuff available to talk about is just awesome. Buffy Summers is a freakin' legend & all the admin staff & mods deserve every bit of credit they get & then some.

Gosh. I'm not sure even where to start with my reply to this!

It's pretty simple: I love this place. But, I imagine that's obvious considering I log on here almost every, single day.

This place contributes a lot to the fandom, and we all appreciate it. *points to referrals* I tell people to join here all the time! I have met so many great people here, and I love discussing the show with everyone. I love how unique this place is; the awards, the dorms, the sub-boards and everything. It's all so well-maintained and well-moderated. The effort all of the mods put into this place shows, for sure.

Is this my favorite website? Probably. It's had a space reserved in my "most visited" queue for quite some time, which has to mean something, right? 😉

I honestly look forward to logging on here everyday. I love having a place to share my love of the show with others.

OK, as a starter, I'd like to say that I owe more to BuffyBoards then I could ever possibly ever express. 🙂 As I said, we're more than just a website here. I'm more "myself" around many of you than a lot of people in real life, which, granted, it's kinda freaky 😉, but still. I love you guys. :inlove:

So, lately, I've been thinking about what makes BB so much better than other websites. I think that it's because of the people. There are very few people here who I'm not totally in love with, and I can honestly say that I don't strongly dislike anyone. We're all so close, it's hard to imagine that I've been here for less than two years!

On a more negative note, as we all know, in this modern day the internet has become an exceedingly less safe place. There's always that slight chance and that slight worry that somebody isn't really who they say they are. And, admittedly, we've had problems here at BB as well. 🙁 But you know what? We've always overcome it and we're stronger because of it. 🙂 We're very unified here, which is another reason for why I love it here so much. We're so together and friendly, people are way more awesome here than at my new school. :tongue3: Also, as I just spoke of the negative side of not actually knowing who it is that you just gushed the details of your day to, I'd also like to mention one of my favorite parts of it. You really can't judge on looks or stereotypes. This can also be considered negative, but I've always kinda liked how the only thing you can really judge a person by is how articulate they are and what their personality seemingly sounds like... 🙂

Speaking of new schools... As some of you know, I moved in August 2009 (back when I was still away from BB land) to a new city and a new school. I REALLY loved my old school, it was extremely small (20 kids per grade, so all of us were always together through eight whole grades) and, although I moved there, I always felt like I belonged at the old school even more than at my old old school. So yeah, I loved everyone, and we were all extremely close. So when I moved and found that I really didn't belong in this new school very well (I normally make friends extremely quickly- In minutes is my average... So when it took me WEEKS to form actual friendships at this school I obviously felt very discouraged and "cursed".), I slipped into this antisocial attitude. I didn't like anybody, I just wanted to stay at home, and I felt like being so unsuccessful at this school was kinda like justice, showing me what it's like on the other side, since I was amazingly well-liked and known before. And pretty soon, I had an odd craving for my Buffy discs, which I hadn't touched for around a year. So I started watching my favorite S6 episodes (Spuffy of course) and remembered an old forum that I had deleted from my bookmarks menu a while ago. Somehow, I remembered the name of this place, and got my password right. It was a bit difficult at first, after all, I had been gone a LONG time, but within a week I was back in the swing of things, and I feel closer to y'all than ever before. In all honestly, one of my biggest fears is losing BB, because it would be like losing a huge and important part of my life. 🙂

Anyway, I'm pleased to say that I'm a million times more happy in life now than I was in that emo time 😉, and you guys are a big part of that, although I still miss the good 'ole days... :embarrassed:

If it weren't for BB, I probably would've gone through those "antisocial" months feeling as alone and isolated as can be. Like, I dunno, it's just a really wonderful feeling to know that no matter what I'll always have you guys. 🙂

But, in conclusion, I'm going to bring back my main statement of what BB has done for me. Well, it's remarkable how much I feel that I've matured, like, just in the past month! It's pretty well-known that I'm one of the youngest members of BB (not yet a teen...), and so, who knows, maybe it's just because my brain is constantly developing and absorbing new knowledge, but really, you guys have helped me learn more than you could ever imagine. In particular, Becky, Queen Crabbit, Miromurr, The Grandmaster, Kean, and MANY others... There are simply too many people to name. All of you are like my teachers in life, expanding my horizon ever farther and inspiring me to be my best. You've made me realize things about myself and the world around me. Really, thank you guys so much, I'm in debt to you all always and forever. 🙂 *Tears up* So, to quote Cordelia, what I'm really trying to say is... I love you! :biggrin3:

Ah, but I talk too much, lol, so I better stop now before you guys get me ranting on the pros and cons of internet chocolate and whatnot... (Yeah, that wasn't supposed to make sense. 😉 )

I *love* BB. For the first time, I realized that I wasn't the only one who had deep personal connections with fictional characters and thought about the philosophy of Bangel and Spuffy. And it's more than that, too. Sometimes I feel like I don't always belong here, but the Boards are sort of like a new family. Especially VH. It always makes me feel better being on here and just talking and hanging out. I can just come here and be me and everyone else is them and it works. So yes, the BB is *totally* my favorite site!

Yeah BB is my favorite site. I like the variety. You can talk about fandom, share your daily life and post art. Buffy and the mods work really hard to keep everything working and it's nice to be able to talk to people around the world. It's also refreshing to see members who are friendly and speak their minds.
I am on facebook, but I hate it. I think it just gives people an excuse to be nosey. 😀 Here you can talk openly and freely and feel good about it and not have to worry that a scary work colleague is stalking your page. * Hopes scary Tommy isn't reading this * 😀
No other site really draws my attention. I like DeviantArt, but I just snoop there. Buffy Boards is always the first site I check when I go on the net. And usually the last I look at before I go to bed.
So thanks Buffy for such a great hangout and for all the hard work you put in here. 🙂

BB is the place I spend most time on online and it's my start page. So now that I'm visable it looks like I'm here even more (since it takes 15 or more before you look offline) than I really am. Not like it's important. BB is the place where I've met some really awesome people and although a lot of them has moved on to other places BB is still easily my favourite place. Still lots of great people and discussions. VH is one big reason why I love the boards so much. And I hope others feel the same for their dorm. It just gives bb that "extra" that is hard to find elsewhere. So if You haven't been sorted do so as soon as possible. 😉 This is my online home for sure. But taking breaks now and again doesn't hurt (I'm not talking about months). Makes you appriciate it even more. It's easy to spend too much time here. Which in itself is a sign of how great it really is.

I can't say that BB is my favourite site - that honour would go to Livejournal. But it's amongst the sites I must visit everyday and I really do enjoy the discussions here. I'm often hesitant to join in on meta discussions on livejournal, I don't feel like my voice will be heard or that I can articulate my thoughts in an intelligent-sounding way.

So the more informal debating/posting style here is something I like. I am a member at another Buffy forum and I did spend much more time there at one point. But I found it too comics-oriented and as I really dislike the comics, I drifted away.

I still don't feel like I entirely "fit in" here at BB, outside of the dorm I don't feel like I 'talk' to people very much.

And this is something I find quite... insular about the boards, to be honest. Like you get to know the people within your own dorm and not many others, as there's no general chat thread or common thread. Seems like everyone else loves the dorms structure, though, so I think I might be alone on this.

Anyway, yes. I like this forum and don't see me going anywhere soon.

Since I don't use it myself I don't know how much people use it nowadays. But IRC was a good way of getting to know people from other dorms.

Like, here at BB, the only way to fit in is to stand out. 🙂

For example, GrrArghx3/ Angel (Sorry if I spelled that wrong, lol) joined here in early December I believe, but by the end of December, I was 100% convinced that she had been here as long as I had. Being outgoing always helps on this site, like Pieceofgosa (another newbie who fits in) can attest to. 😀

But anyway, as for the Dorms, am I the only one who doesn't like them? :cool2: I never post in my Dorm, since I never seem to have any idea of what most people are going on about. And because of that, I really don't fit into my Dorm, since, you know, I doubt that anybody even KNOWS that I'm in Drogyn. 😉

For me, as I said, general discussions and debates are my main way to get to know people here. 🙂 The more I debate with someone, the more I feel like I know them. Facebook is also fantastic. :biggrin3:

BB is probably my second favourite website, after facebook. A lot of that is due to my dorm, and just the fact that I tend to get stuck in on whatever takes my fancy discussion wise.

I don't know if BB is my favourite site, but it's up there. I like the variety, there's always something new and interesting being disscussed. It's also more well ordered than most forums, so everything is easy to find. So yeah, great job to all the mods and admins for bringing us a great site 🙂

There's only 3 forums I frequent and BB is one of them. I find it hard to find interesting forums outside of the one's I'm on currently. Usually I get bored with them after a couple of days and never visit again. So I think BB is one of my favourite sites since I have to check it daily.

BB is my absolute favorite site in the world. That says a lot, considering how much time I spend on Facebook. But yes, BB is the first place I visit when I log on and usually the last one I'm trying to tear myself away from at night when I go to bed. 🙂
I love BB for so many reasons. I originally came here to find a place where I could discuss my favorite TV show of all time, BtVS. At first the board was so big and overwhelming, but then I started gradually getting involved in areas of the site like the Fan Art forum and then eventually I got sorted into a dorm. Being in a dorm, I think, REALLY helped pull me out of my shell around here and gave me the confidence to really be myself because for the first time since I'd joined, I felt like I really belonged. 🙂
I love the organization and structure of BB. It makes it so easy to figure out where I need to go to read or post about something, so I love that.
I love the fact that we have rules that are regularly enforced without getting too crazy.
I love that we can choose from a big gallery of avatars and be able to have our own custom siggies without having to reach a certain number of posts.
I think the way Buffy has created this site works so incredibly well, and much better than any other Buffy-related board I've ever been on.
I love that we have a big group of members who are active, but not so many that you can't get to know people and feel like you're forming real friendships here.
And most of all, I love the dorms. I think it's the best feature of the board, actually. It gives new members the chance to feel like they don't have to work so hard to make friends here because once you're in a dorm, you're automatically part of a tiny "family". Sometimes the family can be a little dysfunctional, in my experience, but overall I think the dorms are what make this place so much better than others.

The only thing about this place that I could say right now that I wish were different is that I wish the IRC were still enabled all the time. It's so much more fun than sending 100 PM's back and forth. 🙂

Personally, I have found it equally rewarding making friends both in the open boards, through discussion and on Merrick (Best.House.Ever.)

I'm not all that shy though so I can see how other people would struggle to find a connection on the open boards, especially if they weren't participating in discussions that much.

As far as the IRC goes, well, I'm delighted it's gone. This is a discussion board and I think it serves us all better remaining that way, PM's are fun, they give you something to look forward to, and if you want to instant message there are countless hosts you can use. To me, discussion of the show should always be the priority and makes for a better BB.

Well BB is a decent forum where you can discuss shows/characters/ships in a very interesting way. I am addicted to it! I like the way we exchange opinions and remain polite and respectful of others' point of view. This forum and facebook are the two sites I visit the most when I am connected in the internet.

I have no idea what houses are(such as merrick, raiden etc) and where you can find them but I certainly enjoy my time when I am with you people here and we are having fun!

You can't find them until you're sorted. And once you're sorted you can only find your own house. So why not get sorted in The Sorting Tome I doubt you'll regret it. But in case you're unsure it can be good to know that there's no commitments what so ever. If you like it, great. And if you don't you don't have to go to your dorm ever again.
