Is Buffy Being Punished?

okey, another one you probably discussed already, =) but this will be the last one for today..

"Innocence" is sometimes being interpreted as punishing Buffy for her sexual relations with Angel. I know Joss thinks of it as the boy who doesn't call back, but some people don't get that. what do you think?
I've read an article about this, and the author mainly said that Buffy had problems with her relationships and whenever sex was involved things whould go bad.. like with Angel and Parker (I hate him! He had Buffy and he let her go! fool!).. therefor she stated that the show stood for a more conservative view on sex.

Did the writer watch season six, not exactly what I would call conservative. How I see it, Angel going bad was a) a great storyline and b) the classic "boyfriend gone bad" thing. As far as Parker goes, he was the ass you meet at college who uses and abuses you, nothing serious. She found Riley and had lots of happy sex with him and while ultimatly he left she was only 20ish at the time, and was still "cookie dough".

Yea I think they are reading way too much into that, I never thought it had anything to do with punishing Buffy. I mean those things can happen, and the Angel thing is really interesting and obviously he had to become evil just to show how much he really loved Buffy (and therefor became "perfectly happy"). The Parker thing had less to do with sex and more to do with the fact that he was a jerk, which he would have been if they had sex or not. These two things are interesting though 'cause it is obviously things that influence Buffy's future life a lot, and the way she looks at sex/relationships/love and so on... Don't think it's punishment in any way though.

Personally, I think that alot of people are reading too much into this. Guys just normal don't call women after we get it on with them. That is what we do. It is what makes us us....kind of like how women like to shop and spend money. That is what women do.

Um yeah, I'm not even gonna comment on this.. Except that I love this post, for various reasons 😀 (Me agreeing is not one of them though, heh.)
