Hi, im a big fan of the 7 seasons of Buffy. However I have seen a few things on the internet possibility saying Buffy is gay or has a girl friend. I am very confused. Am I completely wrong or not. Can some one quickly explain.. Also is it worth buying the comics are they any good compared to the TV show and is there anyway to read them on the internet??

You can read the comics on the internet, but not in a way that gives the author's money. (Though if you live in the USA the Doctrine of First Purchase applies to comics as well as written books, and it is legal.)

It is worth buying them, they are very great. If you are not a comic reader it may take some getting used to, but the comics are still very Whedon, and the characters all pop.

Buffy has a lesbian encounter, but does not have a relationship with a woman specifically because she is NOT gay.

Yea she's not gay. I wouldn't even say bisexual...but weirdly enough I feel like she'll sleep with Satsu again... it's a weird experimentation thing that's like not frivolous, but not gay either... it's a weird thing to explain.

It's very good, I love the comics you should check them out.

In the season 8 comics, she does, in fact, sleep with a girl. Still, she's not gay (or if she is, she hasn't explicitly said it)...she's just an open-minded person who wanted to try a little experiment (or two *coughcough*)

i am sure that she is straight. she would of gone for willow a long time ago, BUT you could say that willow could of been gay a long time ago too. the fact remains that she is buffy. they wouldn't make two main characters gay, especially as buffy the vampire slayer is for all audiences. ok. ok. we are talking comics now, just buffy in general then- it's for everyone. buffy, would be great as a bi-curious woman figure, which i'm sure she could be after all the things that have happened. ya'know, me know a few people who are "straight" / straoght w.e. but their actions speak bi-curious-wise, yes yes.

merry christmas guys.

As Joss Whedon has explained, his view of sexuality is that it's a spectrum and no one is really truly set in one place in that spectrum for their entire lives, so Buffy has had a sexual encounter with a woman but that doesn't mean she's gay now, or even that she'd consider herself bi and date multiple women.

I wonder if he ever would have gotten away with that on network television. 🙂

Thank you! Great explanation, and Joss is right.
As the terms are generally understood, I would say Buffy is bisexual. She obviously still likes men, but, she slept with a woman, loved every second of it, and then did it again. She obviously has feelings for Satsu and her reasons for not pursuing the relationship were more concern for Satsu than a lack of feeling on Buffy's part.

Examples:
Buffy says Satsu's love makes her feel "a little bit less lonely"
Says it is "the sweetest thing ever"
Tells Satsu that a relationship between them would be "fine for me, bad for you"
Tells her their first time together was one of the best nights of her life

But Joss is right in that it's not really about labels.
