Is Buffy Immune to Fire

In Season Six, "Once More with Feeling," she sings, "I touch the fire and it freezes me...why can't I feel, my skin should crack and peel..."

Later on they imply that the changes Buffy went through during her resurrection were not all that physically significant.

At the end of Season 7, as Spike bursts into flames, she grips his burning hand and does not appear to feel any pain.

Is Buffy immune to fire, since her resurrection? Is there another explanation for this?

Yeah, I guess she is. I'm not sure if she really touched the fire in OMWF. But I think that after she got stabbed by an ubervamp and got up, she is immune to anything at that point. 🙂

I mean, I believe she healed or didn't feel hurt by the stabbing after she told The First to get out of her face. So I guess she didn't feel hurt when she touched the fire after that, too. Hope you won't be confused again. :)

The fire referred to in "Once More..." referred to her inability to feel any connection with anything or anyone around her. At the end of "Chosen," Buffy clasped Spike's hand BEFORE he burst into flame, and her expression at that moment seemed to me to be more wonderment and shock than pain. I believe that at that moment, Spike was actually giving her back the fire that she had lost and had not, up until that moment, regained.

That, and, of course, the flames were just a physical manifestation of the passion and sheer raw heat that is Spuffy. (What, you thought that I'd let an opportunity like that get away?)

Well, I don't think she is immune, I think that fire was metaphore for their love. She felt it. IDK. Maybe it is a blooper but I fon't think she is immune.

I certainly don't think it could have been a blooper. Given that James Marsters was not actually on fire, they would have had to add it after the fact into the scene where they are holding hands, and if they wanted to they could have done a tight pan in on their nonflaming hands as the rest of Spike caught fire.

Certainly it could be metaphorical though.

Maybe we'll find out in the comic books, but I can't think of a scene after her resurrection other than this where Buffy deals with fire one way or the other.

Sorry i still don't understand, she wasn't actually Literally immune.(metaphorically maybe)
I think she just found the strength to fight,
( if that makes sense)

Lol, sorry. It's just my thought. Now I think that finding the strength to fight makes more sense. But she's really touching the fire. Maybe it's temporarily immune.
 
Well, in OMWF she doesn't really touch the fire...And in the lyrics, it's more like a metaphor for passion, and how that's something she couldn't have anymore at that point. So "I touch the fire and it freezes me" refers to the passion she is trying to regain, but without success. And as it's metaphorical fire, it doesn't burn her 😉

Agreed on the metaphorical front. Plus, we can't forget about the song "Walk Through the Fire," which further insinuates that "fire" may be representative of many things (like, I dunno, passion? Hardship? Not too sure.)
 
I think her slayer strength, would lower the pain, but no, I don't think she has an immunity to fire. Spike put her back on track, literally fought for his soul for her, and saved the world as a part of her team - I think she would have held his hand, no matter how much it hurt.
As for the stab wound. Let's not forget, Buffy is one tough lady. She may have been put down in normal circumstances, but the first takes on her appearance, taunts her and that little " oh mommy" reference - nah, that's just asking for the ultimate smack down, so she gets up and shows what a slayer can do. And that's why we love her. 😀

More like she was run through with a sword!
It wasn't a case of her being immune to the pain, more that she was seriously annoyed at the First appearing as her. Hence the, "Get outa my face" comment. It was that, that gave her the will to carry on.
 
The fire was symbolism for the passion between them. 🙂 She couldn't feel it at the time because the only thing she could think about Spike. So, while she wasn't immune, she WAS able to overcome the pain.
