is Buffy the slayer ??

or is Faith. Who is the official slayer ? Ive read that another slayer wont be called till Faith dies so does that me she is the True slayer ??
 
Um... okay. here in North America (I snort at the US idea) they are BOTH slayers. when buffy 'temporarily died' in first season (or second or something) for about a second, another slayer was called, and she was Kendra. Kendra died, and Faith was called. Both Faith and Buffy are slayers. Neither of them are the "True Slayer" although Buffy had been doing it for a longer time period.

yes but if buffy were to die again a slayer wouldnt be called. It has been said when faith dies a slayer will be called so i would think that this would make faith the 'official' slayer
 
I'm not really sure who the offical slayer is since they both have their slayer powers. ^_^ All that I do know is that another slayer wasn't called when Buffy died because the slayer blood line runs through Faith now because she took the place of Kendra who had taken the place of Buffy when she died for that little while in Season One.....It's really complicated. 😀
 
Which leads to my next question: Who does the calling? I mean, why when Buffy was only dead a second was a new slayer called? If it was an actual person you'd think they would have gotten the news that Buffy was still alive...
 
I've struggled with this same question myself. I've just come to the conclusion that Faith is the true slayer and should come back and kill Buffy and the show should be Faith the Vampire Slayer. 😉 Kidding! That would be cool though. 🙂 Really though...I think they both have the powers so they are both the slayers. However, since the blood line runs through Faith.. I'd say Faith is the official slayer. (Did that make any sense?)

Who does the calling? Hmm. I guess I'd go with a higher being on this one. Maybe The Elders or TPTB or whatever they are called on Buffy. That is the only way they would have known that Buffy was dead. Then they could have notified the council and ordered them to send a new slayer.
 
She's still got the super-strength so I'd have to agree. However, Faith's still at the end of the line. When she dies, the next one's called.
 
weird... I never thought of it that way. I never realized that three can only be ONE "Buffy's dead. call the new girl" things. I thought the who "Joss says NO, there will NOT be a third slayer" thing was just because he really didn't want one, but now it all makes sense.
 
I don't think there is a person who does the calling. From what I've gathered, is that it just happens, basically like magic. When a Slayer dies, the new one automatically becomes stronger. That's if you believe what is written in the books. There are always "Slayers in Waiting". No one knows who will be the next one until the true slayer dies. However, all of them have the potential and often fight before they become the Slayer.
 
I never though of that, but yes I suppose that Faith is the "official" slayer, but anyway it's Buffy the Vampire Slayer, we see Buffy's life not Faith's.

I guess it must be something magical or natural about the calling lol I don't think a person does it.
