Now, to take part in a Buffy themed forum, I think it's fair to say that we all really like Buffy, but is Buffy your favorite show ever? If not, what is? And for clarity, I'm including the Angel series when I say "Buffy". I know they're separate shows and all, but I've always linked them, and I never really think of one without the other.

For me, Buffy is the best show I've ever seen. I have other favorites, like Game of Thrones, LOST, Smallville, The Wire, and in certain areas I'd say that they're better than Buffy and Angel, but on the whole, I can't think of a single series I've liked more, has impacted me more or been "better" than Buffy.

I would say Buffy is my second favorite tv show. My first tv show love would have to be House MD. It helped me through a tough time in my life. So I'd say House is. That show always made me laugh no matter how I felt. Buffy is a different type of show that I usually didn't watch, but somehow it charmed me. I enjoy it, but there is something about House that makes me like it more.

Ah theres lots of brilliat/fav shows of mine! but i think Buffy has something about it that rises above the rest as its funny, sad, gripping, sweet, scary (hush) its an all rounder hehe 🙂

At the moment, I would say that Buffy is my second favourite show. The West Wing being the best ever. I also think that if 'Suits' and 'Game of Thrones' continue as they are in the coming years, that I will prefer those to Buffy as well.

That having been said, this is the second time I have been involved in the Buffy fandom, the first being back in 1999/2000 and I didn't have the urge to join another fandom in the intervening 12 years. Buffy is far and away the show that I have related to the most, has made me think the most and has a continued relevance to me personally. The other shows, although I think they are 'better', it is because they are better written and/or more entertaining. I can't believe that I have found three shows that I think are better written. Sorry Joss 🙂

If I had seen all of the other programs first and Buffy was the new kid on the block, I wonder if it would become my favourite. Hmmmm....

You know why.
Yep! Although... I haven't watched very many TV shows outside of half hour comedies. But I'm watching X-Files now, and I much prefer Buffy to it.

I never saw anything good as Buffy/Angel, and everytime I'm asked my opinion a show I just can't help but to make comparisons with Buffy.

Buffy is most certainly my favourite TV show. For a little while I explored the option that perhaps The Walking Dead would be my favourite TV show, but as time has passed I realise that Buffy will always be my 'go-to'. Throughout the hardest times that I have had recently it has been Buffy that I have turned to. Buffy gives me strength when I need it and provides me with life lessons about everything. From boys, to life, to death to moving forward in the face of dark times.

How can a show that I turn to for answers and wisdom after the death of a loved one NOT be my favourite TV show of all time?

Nope. Not that I think any of them are bad. Joss is great at writing emotions (often emotions I don't want to have) and quirky dialogue and I appreciate that very much.

I got loads of shows I like or enjoy and if I'm in the middle of watching a season or more of a certain show I'm bound to like that one even more at that moment and it can be my "right now" favourite. In the long run though some shows stick out more than others and one is clear at the top for me.

I'd also like to mention that what you got as a favourite has little to do with quality. "Crap" tv can be entertaining and hence be loved and had as favourites.

The West Wing being the best ever.
That's how simple it is. We've got a few more fans during my years here but not many. No show is for everyone but people really should give the pilot a chance. So many great characters.

I have to say, yes it is. I have many favourite t.v shows such as The X Files, Friends and so forth but Buffy has always been my favourite and still is. When people have asked me the same question in the past they say "but it's not on t.v anymore or but that's old." I just say "well it's as new to me as it was then." I can go without watching buffy for months and watch my other fave shows instead but I always go back to buffy again. I don't think I'll find a t.v show that beats Buffy anytime soon.

Yes. But Supernatural is in very close second. I almost love them as much, except that Supernatural is not done yet so I can't completely compare them until I see the finale (which seems to be what we'll get in May 2013, according to the trailer.....)

Yes, it is. Firefly comes very close, though.

Edit:
Besides Firefly, there's never been a show I got so addicted to. I don't remember how long it took me to watch all of the episodes (and I'm excluding Angel here), but I started watching during summer vacation and I watched one episode after the other, all day long, every day.

I excluded Angel, because I haven't watched all episodes yet. I don't like the characters quite as much as the ones in Buffy. But it's still one of my favorite shows.

In all honesty, I would have to say no, "Buffy" isn't my favorite TV series ever, but it is definitely within the top 10, which is saying quite a bit, considering the fact that I have been watching TV for almost 50 years. My favorite show of all time has to be the original "Star Trek," even though when I watch it now, the crude, cheesey special effects ALMOST at times detract from the skill, talent, and imagination of the writers, directors, and performers who made it.

I love Star Trek TOS.
I would say, without a doubt, that it is, with Angel being my second favorite. I've really grown to love the characters, and I really wish I had discovered them earlier in my life.

Buffy is absolutely my all-time favorite t.v. show. By far. And I'd be shocked if any show ever eclipsed it in my fancy. My second favorite is 24. I'm always amazed by the complete paucity of 24 fans here.

There's a few but the show is rarely discussed.
Buffy is definitely my favorite... I've never loved a show as deeply or for as long as BTVS. The Walking Dead definitely is on its way to tying with BTVS though. 😉

It's my current favorite, but I don't know that I can say it's my favorite overall. I tend to get really obsessed with a show, and it'll be my favorite until something else comes along to take that spot. It's why I don't even necessarily try to rank things, I just have a lot of things that I enjoy.

It's definitely in my top five though. I'm not sure what my very favorite is. Top favorites overall are probably Buffy, Firefly, Babylon 5, X-Files, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Quantum Leap, Doctor Who, and Gilligan's Island (yes, really). But don't ask me to rank them within that! 😛

Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel is absolutely 100% completely by a longshot the best television series I have ever watched, and I am 100% certain that no show I will ever watch will surpass it.

Absolutely my favorite. It's been over a decade, and I'm still talking about it, I'm still thinking about, and as the years go by, my appreciation for the show continues to grow. No other show has permanently made its mark on my psyche the way Buffy did. While "Breaking Bad" is my current favorite show, and excells in ways that "Buffy" never did, it never touched my soul the way "Buffy" does.

This article perfectly explains why I will always prefer "Buffy" to anything:

Ten Things Buffy Does Best

My favourite show ever is the X-Files. Buffy is my 2nd favourite followed by Supernatural. But now after seeing the first four episodes of Game of Thrones season 1, that might change.
