Question Is Dawn Still The Key in Season 6?

I just watched the Season 6 premiere but I'm wondering (without spoilers, please!) is Dawn still the Key throughout the rest of the series? Or after the portal was opened was the Key freed from Dawn's body?​
 
It's never actually confirmed. The closest we get is:

Dawn: I'm not the Key anymore, and even if I am, I don't open anything.

Could be that her powers are dormant now, or she's like a battery and all her juice was used up when the portal opened.

However, the Key was never actually supposed to survive the opening of the portal.

Giles: When the blood flows, the gate will open. The gate will close when it flows no more.

So we know that she beat the prophecy by surviving. I like to think that she does still have powers, they just haven't been tapped into yet. Hopefully, it'll get explored more in S9.

I think it's undefined, because it's never been said as evident. All that was said was, Dawn: "It's not like anyone's coming after me. I'm not the key - or if I am, I don't open anything anymore. It's over, remember?" to Spike.
 
I was going to quote Dawn, but it's useless. Dawn is still a person, still that energy in human form. I agree with her. She's still the key, but she doesn't open anything anymore. I think it'd be neat to see her experiment with Wicca.
 
I disagree, I think she's still the key. I do think it's a bit undefined in the series, but(Spoiler for s8 up ahead)
she is referenced as the key in season 8. Nothing ever comes of it, heck nothing comes of it in seasons 6 & 7 either, but they lead us to believe that it's still important. I sure hope they do something with it in season 9.
 
There's also when
Willow goes evil, she almost takes Dawn's energy before Buffy stops her and, for some reason, they all go to the magic box.
 
Depends what you mean.
Obviously she is still what the monks created...but first and foremost, they created a human. A human out of energy with a unique gift to open a portal to other dimensions.
But aside from that one party trick...we're not led to believe that the Key possesses any other "powers."
Her blood did open the portal, and I don't see how that would have stripped her of the Key abilities.
Also, it's important to note that Glory had to perform the ceremony to open the portal at a specific time and date....she was even told that if she missed her opportunity, that was it, so I think we can infer it only happens once in a long, long time. Longer than a human lifetime.
 
Wait... does this mean that if someone were to redo the blood ritual that Glory did, would Dawn still open dimensions? Glory didn't need to be there to initiate it right? All she needed to do was jump through her portal home. It wasn't even her to started the ritual. It was that creepy old guy with the tail.

The key opened ALL the dimensional walls. It's highly unlikely Glory would even get home.

Only at a specific time and place though, which was at the end of S5. I think it was a one time only thing.
