As of "Dirty Girls," in Season 7, Buffy was still classified as an escaped fugitive, but I can't help but wonder if, the next year, when Angel became CEO of Wolfram & Hart, he didn't have some of his staff, even though it wasn't ever mentioned on screen, take steps to have Faith's sentence either reduced to time served, or have all records of it removed from the books entirely. Angel has cared for and watched over her since "Sanctuary," is fully aware that she has reformed, and is fully aware that she can do far more good on the outside fighting than she ever could in prison.

Granted, in the "No Future For You" arc, Giles states that he can get Faith false identification papers that will allow her to start a new life in Europe, but he might have either not known about anything that Angel might have done or been purposefully lying in order to assure her help (he's done worse than lie in the past in order to serve "the mission." There's no reason to believe that he wouldn't do so again)

Anyhow, do you think that Angel might have taken steps to make sure that Faith doesn't have to return to prison, even if he never got around to telling her about doing so?

Hm, I've never even considered the idea that Angel might've pulled some strings for her. I really do think that she is still a wanted fugitive, not that Angel wouldn't help I just don't see him getting around to it with all else that was going on in season 5.

I think that either Giles or Angel pulled some strings at one point to make her record vanish. The Watcher's Council seemed to be pretty influential and by that point Giles more or less was the whole Watcher's Council and I think he'd think that Faith was of more use (also to him) outside, especially after his estrangement from Buffy following S7.

And well, you already pointed out Angel's motivations, which I agree with.

I'm sure, for her to still be out and free in Season 8, that someone had to have done something to make her record go away, or at least get her sentence knocked down to "time served".

Never thought about it but I like the idea that you pointed out saying that maybe Angel took care of it. Also I see why Giles would to. I doubt she would help them both so much and they not try to help her.

I think it's definitely plausible that Angel pulled some strings for Faith. Otherwise, she'd have been hounded by the police.

More interesting is that if Angel did do something for her, he would have to admit to being involved with her and/or harboring a fugitive. Of course, what with all the power he held at the time, I doubt the cops would even care enough to even question him what with all the other illegal stuff that was most likely going on in W&H.

I like to think they helped her out of her record. I do think she desirved it. Faith was never truly evil. She was just lost and confused. She turned to the one person who showed her respect and love. That person happened to be evil and told her to do evil. It took her going through so much to finaly see where she really belonged. She turned her self in to the cops. she was not cauputed. and she only broke out of jail to help save the world (BTW I loved when she broke out of jail. that was SWWEEEETTT!!!!)

In #6 Giles mentions that she tried to buy a forged passport, and she says she's an escaped con (present tense). So I guess she's still a wanted criminal.

Yeah, the last two references we got to her status were her almost being recaptured in BS7 and that reference in BS8.

Personally, I think the best explanation for Angel not pulling strings for her in S5 was that he didn't want to taint any more people than necessary with Wolfram & Hart's influence. That would also explain why he didn't simply set Xander up with one of his doctors to transplant a new eye.

Or maybe Buffy or Giles discouraged Faith from turning to Angel.

I awlays been curious how AtS season 5 could go with Faith as one of the regulars (maybe instead of Spike, if TheWB couldn't afford two new regulars).

Imo, Faith would have been a terrible replacement for Spike. Spike was brought in to lighten the show, Faith's not an especially light character.

I liked the dynamic Spike added since Angel viewed the rest of his team as people who he needed to protect. Spike on the other hand didn't see Angel so much as a leader as he saw him as a rival.

Not really, in "Damage" I think it was from S5, he tried to take Dana a slayer, then Andrew double crossed him, and basically told him off. I think the Angel a champion was gone by the end of season 5, he basically murdered two people(Lindsey, Drogyn), for just about the most pathetic reasons, both murders were Betrayals. Lindsey was murdered because of what he Might do in the future, and Drogyn to protect his Black Thorn plan, or the Greater Good BS excuse.I'm not saying he was never a champion, but him being Twilight makes perfect sense from his characters history, and if you compare BVS 5 and ATS 5, the BVS 5 message gets it right, ATS 5 failed with that at least in my opinon. Angel from season 5, is not even close to the Angel who gave up his humanity to protect Buffy in ATS earlier seasons. Also some sad irony in Doyle's death, he died protecting other half breeds, or people that were part demon and human, the same as the slayers. I see Angel as a fallen hero, like Darth Vader, he could still do something heroic in the end, but I hate whitewashing it ruins any story.

Let's not forget that his plan to overthrow the Circle of the Black Thorn, the Senior Partners' executive Committee on earth, which he himself admitted was little more than a suicidal gesture on their part, something similar to spitting in the eye of one's executioner, and something that they had virtually no chance whatsoever of surviving, put the lives of the entire population of Los Angeles in jeopardy, and actually succeeded in sending the whole city to hell.

Maybe she's not a wanted fugitive, but she's still wanted. (sw)

For the seriousness, I think The Watcher Council(says, Giles and the ones who survived from the bomb) got everything done for her. No more cops after her, IMO.

I'm sure Angel would have helped her if he could, but I'm not sure if W&H would have let him. They broke the law, but I wonder if they could make a wanted fugitive, known from TV, just disappear. They've seemed subtle in the past, and not always willing to do everything for their clients (remember the mob guy in season 1 of Angel that didn't get help after he tried to kill Kate, because that was one step to far for W&H?)

Maybe they would have let Angel do it, since they wanted him happy.

In that case, he already sold out to Wolfam and Hart, an evil law firm, which had actually harmed and endangered Cordelia in the past, and ended up bringing the death of most of the fang gang, by the end of the season, his judgement was just bad in that season. Andrew was completely right in that circumstance, it had nothing to do with Angel helping, but getting Dana to people who were uncomprised that could help her, which Angel was compromised morally, when he took the deal with Wolfram and Hart. One of the reasons I really liked that scene, because it showed how if you compromise your morals, it will have consequences.

Sorry, I answered your post wrong, I didn't realized till I read it again, but you could actually be right.

Skytteflickan88 agrees: In the case of what? How does this post, with Dana and Angel's morals have anything to do with what I said?

Your right I answered it wrong, and I agree you could be right W&H is capable of anything.

For that matter, however, we must remember that Faith was a Wolfram and Hart contractor just before she went to prison. This sounds like it would weigh on the side of Wolfram and Hart being willing to help get rid of her record.
