When we left Faith at the end of Season 7, she was still a wanted fugitive, and Giles said that he could clear her record in Season 8, but with all that was going on at that time, he might not have gotten around to it before being killed. Angel almost certainly could have gotten something done while he was running Wolfram & Hart, but apparently didn't, even though, if my memory isn't playing tricks on me again, he was the one who convinced her not to turn herself in, because she could do more good as a free Slayer than as an incarcerated killer.

So, is Faith still a fugitive from justice, or is her record clear?

I'm pretty sure Giles left all his money to Faith Lehane at the end of Season 8, that'd be pretty hard to do if she was still wanted by law-enforcement. (The lawyer calls her by names after Giles leaves her all his stuff- house, money, everything.

Also she and Giles spent a lot of Season 8 travelling in Europe, which implies some mobility/ freedom on her part. (although this could be a bunch of fake passports)

At the start of 'No Future For You,' Giles offers to help her disappear after 'one last job', so before that she certainly is wanted by the authorities.
Faith turns Giles down in favour of teaming up with him and going after and helping other rogue slayers like Genevive Savidge.

So I guess somewhere in Season 8 Faith must've had her record wiped. Makes sense.

And yes, she's totally wanted by this fan.

As you say, Faith and Giles spent quite a lot of time traveling around Europe in Season 8, which is one reason that I was wondering if he actually had the time required to make the arrangements to clear her record, though I suppose that everything could have been set up in advance, so that all he had to do was make a phone call. And I'm not sure just what the extradition laws and agreements between England and the United States are, so that could have been one reason why she was staying there.

As for Faith's name being mentioned in Giles' will, I think that that would fall under the rules of Client Confidentiality, so there wouldn't be any chance that the lawyer would have been reporting her to the authorities

However it was done, though, I suppose that it was done, otherwise Faith wouldn't be back in California in Season 10, even temporarily.

Extradition laws are pretty one way between the US and UK, if Faith was wanted bt the US authorities she would've been shipped over there pretty quickly.🙂

As for the inheritence, I'm not sure about lawyer/client privelige trumping giving lots of money to a wanted criminal.
Still, as you say, Faith is back in the States in Season 10, looking for a job no less, and not that eager to return back to London.

So I guess Giles must've fixed/erased her records somehow, but it would be nice for the issue to be cleared up, especially since Faith is going to be working in some Slayer-security network, and that sort of thing usually requires background checks.

Even though it wasn't stated out right I think it's fairly safe to assume that her record has been wiped by now. If not by Giles during Season 8 then maybe as part of the deal Buffy cut with the authorities between Season 8 and Season 9.

I thought it was implied pretty strongly that Giles had her record taken care of, either in S7 or in S8.

Giles used clearing her record as a bargaining chip in Season 8 to get Faith to work with him, but he was never actually shown doing it or mentioned that he actually had, so it's possible that he never actually got around to making the arrangements before he was killed. Most likely, he did, but the chance still exists that it never got done.
