Is He Now or Has He Ever Been?

I was going through the seasons of ATS last week and I noticed that Angel kind of had a tendency to "fall" for the first woman that came along. LOL...For a guy that's suppoused to be tortured and alone....It just seems like he "crushed" alot. Let's see...Through the seasons there was Kate, The occasional appearance from Buffy, Jheira, Rebecca, Darla, Cordelia, Gwen. And a sporatic moments of flirtation with Lilah , and Fred. Not to mention his infatiuation with Jasmine (Although that could not be helped). Did I miss anybody? So what do you think? Was Angel kind of a love-slut?
 
Angel was brought on as the love interest, but it was specifically of the puppy-love variety. So, yeah, I think being in love with love - especially the hearts and flowers and virtue kind - is definitely part of his character.

You're right! Didn't Joss once say something like, "We finally found the right girl for Angel... and it's Spike!"

Those two had fabulous chemistry together on Angel. And they have that suggestive habit of, umm... comshucking... the same women.
 
That they do...the little comshuckers. there's definitely some hidden psychology thing in there. definitely. i just loved them two together in season 5. Bloody marvelous chemistry ;-) and I love that Joss quote.
 
I think Angel is just the guy who loves love. Or maybe he was just constantly trying to find a substitute for his love with Buffy- trying to fill the hole breaking up with her left behind. All Cangel fans are gonna hit me now for suggesting that that 'ship is cheapened, aren't they? :ducks for cover: hehe

Okay, he might have had a lot crushes, but it was always as one door closes, another one opens. SO yeah, on some level he might've been looking for substitutes.
But Cangel was still an exception, this was not just a crush. For once Angel didn't just coveniently fall in love like with every other girl (yup, I mean Buffy as well), he built this relationship up. With every other girl it was just her meeting him for the first time, them getting along and BANG Angelgot all crushy. Cordy's really the only one who doesn't fit the pattern.

And other than that, I just figure Angel can't deal without love in his life. Maybe it's part of dealing with his soul.
 
I do agree that he did fall for Cordy. It was a friendship love. You know something that grew from their deep bond as friends; it was a natural progression. However I don't agree with the Buffy was convenient comment. It was a love at first sight deal for them too. Unfortunately that road never did run smooth, more so for them than anything.

But I do think Angel always needs love in his life- including in that Connor as although it wasn't a romantic love it was a love just as strong if not stronger- to bear the pain of the curse of his soul, like you said SS.
 
If you think about although he loved Cordy, Buffy opened the door to humanity to Angel. He didn't fall in love with anyone apart from Buffy and Cordy that we know of. Finding someone attractive doesn't have to be a big deal, but finding someone you love I think is to Angel. Buffy already had too important relationships by the time Angel started to fall for Cordy, but with Buffy, I think she opened him up and he was less the 'alone tortured guy'. Although it is implied that at some point he had 'dealings' with the Furies.
 
i think I'll disagree with this one..first of all Angel ever had a thing for Kate..neither he had with Lilah or Fred.also with most of the rest it was just moments of passion (for example Gwen)..he was only interested with a couple of the girls mentioned and i think that in 5 years 3-4 relationships(if they can be called so) ain't much...
