I'm glad that Joss isn't just throwing ex-Buffy people on Angel. It's a show in its own right and I think its good we have not had loads of cross-overs in the last 5 years. Other spin-off's never really get off the ground because they are always under the shadow of the show they came from. The distance between Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer has allowed the show to grow on its own and step out of Buffy's shadow and become more than just a spin-off. It's made its own mark on the TV world and established its own fans. Many people even think that its better than the show it came from (which is rare for spin-offs). Your views?

I think it's great that they parted ways because it gave Angel a chance to grow on its own. Angel is an amazing spin-off with its own mythology and essence. Being apart from Buffy has let it form its own fan base and that's really good.

Basicly what I was trying to say but with much better wording.

I agree..These are 2 different show both of great quality..As much as I'd like to see some guest appearence from Buffy cast I know it wouldn't always be the best fro Ats...

slayerangel explained what I'm thinking😛...btw,No Angel,I'm one of poeple who think Angel is better than Btvs,..am I the only person?

Angel has been better than Buffy for it's past two season! As much as I love Bangel, I would sacrifice it for all the greatness that is Angel the series. It's one of the best shows on TV.

Aww, but you guys are forgetting about the sheer brilliance of BtVS. Remember: If it wasn't for Buffy, Angel wouldn't exist. 😉

But who doesn't love Angel? It totally rocks. 🙂

Angel is an awsome show. The show really grew into its own. It not overshadowed by BtVS. I think it's great that the Angel spinoff was made. Its truely a brillant show. I like both shows equally, we wouldn't have Angel with out BtVS, but in some ways I do believe Angel actually has been better than Buffy.

I'm a diehard, Hardcore, BTVS fan, But when I made the decision to start watching Angel, I freaked out because I thought It was so good. I prefer the characters on Buffy better, I find them more likeable myself, But I cannot deny the magnitude of Angel. Most of my friends who I get hooked on Buffy, End up switching to Angel. But still for me, I like Buffy better. I would watch it before Angel anyday.

I don't think we should even be comparing AtS to BtVS. IMO, they're both very different shows and it all depends on what you prefer, not which is better.

Blake, I prefer Buffy also. Angel has been amazing, but it took a long time to find itself. Overall, I definitely think Buffy is better...

Angel is a great show, by itself. But the Buffy crossovers are an added bonus. Especially now that Buffy has gone off air.

Can't say I see the show as something completly apart from Buffy. They're equals, but they both belong to something bigger, and I'll never be able to think of the show without keeping the verse as a whole in my head.

I think that they parted in good terms, Season2-3 is where the show really grew by itself since we didnt have any crossovers(except for a 1 minute Willow) and Season5 is going somewhat well and it is shying away from being known as the spin-off of Buffy a little, but it will always be known as just that. I dont think that Angel is better then Buffy but I can see why some people think that the last 2 seasons were better, Angel is a lot fresher and was only in its 3rd-4th year while Buffy was in its 6th-7th year thus being harder to write for.

If they get contracted for another 12 episodes. (That's twelve eps into season 7 of Angel). Both series will have had an equal number of episodes and then, Angel starts to count. When it has been running longer it really will become the driving force.

I'm glad that they parted ways. It gave me two different shows, that had the same element, to watch. Angel is a lot more darker than Buffy, except for maybe Buffy season 6, but it still uses the same mythology that I love from Buffy. Plus we've been able to watch a lot of different plot lines, where as if Angel had stayed on Buffy we wouldn't have seen them.

Very well put jules, I think that pretty much sums up why it's good that they've spinned off.

I'm definitely glad they parted. I like the characters of Angel and Buffy so much more when they're apart (Angelus is a different story, however!). If they had stayed together, just think how less interesting Buffy S4-S7 would have been... not to mention there would be no AtS, which is great in its own right.
